"How are you?"

"I've . . . been better." Kara looked at the Daxamite. "What're you doing here, anyway?"

"I just . . . wanted to see you." He placed the potstickers on the table, gesturing towards it. Kara just shook her head. "Halk Kar treated me to dinner already."

Seriously? He shot her an incredulous look. Kara knew better than to argue back. She just collapsed back on the sofa. "Why are you really here, Mon-El?"

A question - and a demand. He wanted to deny her that, but he couldn't bring himself to.

"I-I wanted to apologise for-"

"Save it, Mike." Kara snapped.

He stopped instantly. Kara hadn't called him that since they had found out each other's identities.

Mon-El shifted uncomfortably in his seat. Kara noticed, and softened her tone.

"Look, I'm sorry. I'll be here. Whenever you're ready."

"H-how'd it go with the new alien?"

Kara stopped. "H-Halk Kar? We got along, if that's what you're asking."

"So you'd rather hang out with him now?"

Kara choked on a laugh, "Is this jealousy I'm detecting, Mon-El?"

He shook his head, laughing along with Kara. The Kryptonian looked at him. "Why don't you get to know Halk Kar, Mon-El? We've all got quite a bit in common."

"Maybe. But I want to talk about the other night."

Her face dropped, as did her emotions. "Y-yeah? What about that?"

Mon-El shifted again, his hands clearly becoming clammy as he rubbed his palms together. His heart raced and his eyes were lost in deep thought.

"Mon-El?"

He broke out of his reverie, "Right! You said you . . . liked me?"

"Well, yeah, I did-"

"But I said I wasn't ready. Not yet, at least." He began fiddling with the edges of his clothes.

Kara looked up, refusing to speak, so the Daxamite continued, "I-I-I just needed some time to think. I just came out of a long-distance relationship, and, well, I wasn't ready to enter another just yet."

"O-oh, I'm sorry . . . "

"Don't be. You didn't understand what I was going through."

Kara walked to the kitchen area, pouring out two glasses of water, almost unable to control the shaking. Tears clouded her vision, and it wasn't long before she felt someone take the jug from her hand.

"Kara," Mon-El said, as he poured the water, "I do like you. You were, I-I mean, are my first love, after all, and I had never given up on you."

"But I forgot you, I forgot about my friend!"

"And I don't blame you for that. But I just need some time to get over the breakup with Imra. Maybe . . . a week or two? A month, at most. At least, I hope." Mon-El looked over to his friend, eyes shining with tears.

Kara nodded, using the back of her hand to wipe away the tears. "As I said. I'll wait for you."

She looked over her shoulder, and caught sight of her laptop, which was still on. She recalled something. "Oh! Kal invited me to his home! Would you like to come? I've asked Halk Kar, he's available. I'd like you two to meet Clark Kent, not Kal-El."

A shadow seemed to flicker in his eyes. Indeed, Mon-El was jealous.

She let out a broken laugh, "I'll give you time to think about it. I need to use the bathroom right now - I probably look like a mess, don't I?"

Mon-El winked at the blond Kryptonian girl, whom he had loved since childhood. "You'll always look beautiful in my eyes, Kara Zor-El."

A/N: Okay, it's official. You guys are insane! I came back to check this week and saw that this story has hit 2K reads! Maybe it's not a lot to some of you, but this is huge to me! I'd never thought this story would even get 1K reads and yet here we are. Anyway, I've got some good news and bad news.

The good news is that my exams end in about a week (or slightly longer), so I'll be able to post frequently again, but the bad news is that I've got writer's block. I have no clue what to write next. There are two chapters after this already lined up, and I have even thought of the way this story is going to end, but some readers want the story to keep going. If you guys have any suggestions, please comment them (or message me). If I can't think of anymore ideas, there can only be maybe about five more chapters before the end. I love this story and I know many of you do too, so it will be appreciated if you do.

I want to do one chapter on Kara under the effects of different Kryptonite or something like that, but I have no idea what to write.
