(Y/N) POV - 2533 words (This one is a little shorter, there's not much going on in this episode. There's a little conversation between you and Killua at the end, though. I hope I didn't mess up his character, comment if there's something you don't think he'd say or do.)

The remaining 368 Hunter Applicants are running through Swindler's Swamp, as though marching to the beat of a drum. Myself included. There are only a few people who don't sound out of breath already, Killua, Gon, Hisoka, and I among them. We're running in the middle of the group, probably the safest place. We're surrounded on all sides by people, so we won't be the first ones to go if danger comes, as I know it will.

The fog begins to thicken, reducing our visibility to nearly zero. I hear people talking in conspiratorial voices behind us, "Guys, here's our chance. I say we take advantage of the fog and get rid of him."

I know immediately they're talking about Hisoka. He's a shady character, but clearly too powerful for even ten men to take on at their level, surely they can tell? Apparently not by the grunts of affirmation coming from those around him. I'm not the only one who's noticed the tension. Killua glances over his shoulder quickly, "Gon, (Y/N). Let's try to move up to the front."

I say nothing, even though I knew long before him, only nodding my head. Gon agrees, though for a different reason, "The last thing we should do is lose sight of the Examiner now."

"I just want to put some distance between Hisoka and us. It's dangerous to be too close to him. I can smell it," Killua elaborates. Gon takes this a little too literally, using his ow nose to sniff the air around us, "I don't think he smells."

Oh dear. Gon is wonderful, he's smart and kind and very intuitive, but sometimes he just needs to read between the lines a bit. Only further proving my point, he yells past over a hundred people to Kurapika and Leorio, "Killua says we should all move up to the front of the pack."

I mentally face palm. What is this kid thinking? Never give away your plans. I can tell Killua's thinking the exact same thing as he says, "Hey, calm down, don't you feel the tension in the air?"

Thankfully, Leorio provides the perfect excuse for them not to join us: they can't. Kurapika probably could, but he's far too polite to leave Leorio. Gon's disappointed by this development, but moves on ahead anyways. Korako whines at me, his head level with my hip.

"Are you hungry?" I ask him. He whines again. I sigh, "I can't get you anything right now, but I think Hisoka's going to take care of it soon. Just hold on a little bit longer. I feel awful doing this to you, but trust me, okay?"

Korako yips happily, the prospect of food giving him newfound energy. We run a little faster to catch up with Killua and Gon. I hear evidence of a struggle from behind me, screams of terror mixed with earth-shattering roars. Then, there's more screaming, but much much closer. It seems some of the Applicants strayed too far from the path and stepped on some mushrooms which released spores, killing them upon contact. Mushrooms are scary: noted. The sound of confusion and bodies hitting the wet ground attract my attention. Very few people must be left. They're so far behind the sound is a little unclear, but the number of applicants has to be at least halved. Some of the footsteps stop for a moment behind us, then return in full force, then more screaming. They must've been fooled again. Hell, can't people just stay on the course?

Gon puts words to my thoughts, "I wonder what's happening. I can hear people screaming all around us."

"That's why we need to be careful," Killua replies.

"I haven't seen the guys in a while. I just hope they're safe." Gon glances around as though they'll appear out of the fog. Killua and Gon stop for a moment while Korako and I keep running, we run five feet away from them before realizing they've stopped. I hear them both scream and whirl around. They seem to have been swallowed by an enormous frog. It's kind of funny, actually.
