First Day-3

"Come on, we've got gym next" Ryland stated as he stood up from his stool. "...And please tell me you're thinking about joining the team."

"Team?" I asked.

He gave me a 'duh' sort of look then gave a half smile, "come on dude, I'll introduce you to the coach."

Together we made our way even further toward the back of the school, soon we were greeted by a tall guy in a very weathered baseball cap and shorts that seems just a tad bit too short for him.

"The Titan!" The coach bellowed as he clapped Ryland's back enthusiastically. "Glad to have you returning this year Barbarossa."

"Good to see ya too coach Hart, this is my boy Royce Blackcreek."

Coach held out his hand and I shook it, "good shake son, damn good shake...you thinking of trying out for the team?"

"Yes sir."

"Well with those Mitts you'd definitely make a hell of a quarterback, or if your fast maybe even a running back." He commented.

"Uh, I was thinking something more along the lines of defense." I admitted.

"Oh ho" he smiled wildly..."with you and the Titan here, hell we'd have the best defensive line in the entire state." He said more to himself before remembering Ryland and I were standing there, "you two go get in some padding and we'll see how you do today Blackcreek."

Ryland and I did as we were told and met up with the coach once more, this time on the field.

"Great practice gentlemen, go on and hit the showers, Blackcreek...i'm damn impressed son!"

"Thanks coach." I replied as I trudged back into the boys locker room.

After I showered Ryland and I headed to lunch.

"So don't want to sound...that way," he chuckled, "not there's anything wrong with people like that, I have a gay cousin...anyways, you can sit with me if you want."

I couldn't help but laugh, "sure thing boss, but first I gotta find my girl."

"You're already dating someone?" He asked with a slight admiration.

I shrugged, "she's my mate." I said trying to say it as cool as possible without outright gloating.

"That's cool, I haven't found my mate yet, but my girlfriends name is Piper."

I shook my head, "what are you gonna do when you do find your mate?"

He shrugged his shoulders nonchalantly, "what can I do, my mate will always be my mate, but I've been with Piper since we were fourteen, we've been through a shit load together, good and bad...I love that little bipolar beauty of mine." He smirked.

I nodded, it was hard to empathize with him having never been a situation like that.

"You must know what I'm talking about?" He wondered out loud.

Once more I shook my head, "I wasn't with anyone before I met Lexi, plus even if I would have been...mates are different for Weres with Alpha blood."

"You don't say?" He sounded, I couldn't tell if he was fucking with me or not.

"Yeah," I rubbed the back of my neck, I don't exactly like being put on the spot about my relationship. "Normally mates get to choose if they want to just be friends or in an actual relationship, but with Weres with Alpha blood they don't get the choice, their mate is automatically their chosen life partner in every single way...so one day Lexi will be my wife and Luna."

"Well go find your girl and the both of you can meet up with Piper and I inside." He suggested.

I acknowledged his statement and then pulled out my cell before trying to text her before being seen by a teacher, she merely gave me a stern look, silently telling me to 'put it away.'

I pocketed my phone and when the teacher walked off I finally sent the text, it didn't take her long to respond.

[Alexia: Just leaving the library, meet you outside the cafeteria shortly, stand next to the good vending machine :).]

I smiled and put my phone back into my pocket before looking around, I indeed found a room with a few vending machines, and at first I was wondering what Lexi was talking about "the good vending machine" until I saw what she meant.

Most of the vending machines held chocolate milk, sports drinks, or fruit juices. And the ones that held "treats" we're actually fruit snacks, pretzels, or raisins.

All with the exception of one.

The familiar orange packaging of Cheetos was a welcoming beacon of goodness. I immediately pulled out my wallet and purchased a bag as well as a pack of gum, unfortunately I had to get a power aid to go with it instead of a fully caffeinated soda, but beggars can't be choosers.

"Hey."

I turned and found Lexi smiling up at me.

"Hey yourself." I responded. "Want something?" I gestured toward the machine.

"M&M's" she beamed like a child.

I put in another dollar and happily picked the chocolate candies for her. As I handed them to her she thanked me. "Ready to go" I asked.

"Where are we going?"

"I met this cool guy in Auto Mech, we really hit it off and he invited us to eat with him and his girlfriend." I filled her in.

"Human or Were?" She smirked.

"Were, anyways...how has your day been since I've seen you last?" I asked as I linked our hands together by interlocking our fingers comfortably.

She shrugged, "just the usual, loving my classes so far, got a great reading assignment and Bryson also told me to tell you hi."

I chuckled dryly, "what did that prick want?"

She sighed, "what do you think he wants?"

"Me gone."

"Precisely." She grimaced, "just," she sighed, "try not to do anything too stupid."

I looked at her and a soft smile fixed itself on her face, "you know I'll always back up whatever decision you choose to make as your mate, I won't always like them, but in the end of the day I will always be in your corner."

I couldn't help but bend down and steal a kiss "you really are too good for me."

"I know" she smiled and pulled me back to her as her arms snake around my neck. The sound of a throat clearing caused us to pull apart.

We both got a chastising look from The same teacher who had caught me on my cellphone, once more she didn't say anything so Alexia and I quietly slinked out of the room and finally headed for the cafeteria.
