"My life had taken a drasstic turn and I realized why Nash wanted me to live my life and follow me dreams-he knew this would happen."

»

I sat on the bleachers, the tassel on my cap flowing around me in the breeze. It has been almost 5 months since Nash died, and I still wasn't okay. So, as I sat there looking out at the sea of 2015 graduates, my heart shattered. Nash should be here.

Anna and Dad stood on the grass of the football field, talking with Cameron's parents as Will bounced happily on Anna's hip. I shifted, my dress crinkling but I didn't care, which was my normal attitude now. There would be days that I would wake up happy. Then I would remember that the love of my life was gone.

I looked up at the sky, blowing a kiss to the clouds above. "We did it, Nashie."

I dropped my head moments later, Astrid and Cam coming to sit by me. "Hey," Astrid said to me, rubbing my back reassuringly.

I licked my chapped lips. "Hey."

Cameron took my hand in a friendly matter. "Mr. Anderson needs to talk to you." He looked up at Astrid, smiles on both of their faces.

I groaned and stood from my seat. "I'll talk to you guys later." As I walked down the steps of the bleachers, my mind began to race of things he could possibly need to tell me. I silently prayed that it was anything but Nash. I didn't need to be reminded of the perfect puzzle piece I once had to fill the gap in my heart.

When I approached him, he smiled to me and excused himself from his conversation with a parent. He quickly led me into the school. I didn't question him; I simply followed him into his classroom.

"Willow," He said happily. "I have great news!" He said as he rummaged around in his drawers.

"Really?" I asked quite boredly. He held up a book wrapped in paper. I knitted my eyebrows together in confusion. "What's this?"

He grinned. "Open it."

I took it from his hands, the book seemingly heavy from its hard cover. When I removed the paper, my heart stopped. The book's cover was completely black, but the white, block numbers stood out beautifully. Just beneath it was the author's name-my name. It was the book I wrote for my senior project. I gasped.

He nodded happily. "Check the back."

I obeyed and flipped it over to find endless reviews. "Inspiring love of two youngsters in a tough situation," I mumbled, reading along to the first one I saw.

"John Green," Mr. Anderson said quietly.

"He read my book?" I asked, my heart fluttering.

"He did indeed," He replied. "Continue reading them."

"Humorous and heartbreaking," I read. "Hilarious but tear jerking love story."

It was when I read the last one that I saw a tear drop onto the book. "Wildly beautiful and tragically heartbreaking." I swallowed. "T-The New York Times."

He nodded proudly. "Willow, they want you to come to New York and publish it. They think it'll be an instant best seller!"

I began to shake with pride. "They want me?"

He nodded excitedly. "They love it!"

I blinked, my eyes focused back on my book. "How?"

He smirked, standing from his chair. "I sent it in to them. I hope you don't mind."

I shook my head. "Of course not! Thank you so much!" I held the book to my chest tightly.

He smiled at me. "Now, get out of here and tell your parents."

I nodded happily. "Will do. Thank you so so much, again."

He just waved me off proudly and I dashed out the door, my heart pounding. I had done it. I quickly pushed through the doors and out into the bright sun, a huge smile plastered on my face. When I found Anna and dad, I was breathless.

"A-Da-Oh-" I tried to speak but words never came out.

Dad looked at me wierdly. "Are you high?"

I grinned, simply displaying my book to them. Their eyes became wide with shock as I nodded my head. "Oh my God, W! This is amazing!"

They took the book from my grasp and skimmed the pages and cover. "Pumpkin," Dad said with tears in his eyes. "This deserves pizza!"

Anna rolled her eyes, the same smile on her face as dad squeezed her shoulder. "You guys ready?"

I looked up at the bleachers, finding Astrid and Cam sitting there quietly. "You guys can go on and get the pizza. I'll just drive myself home."

They both nodded and bid me a goodbye. I quickly but calmly made my way up to my friends, my fingers practically glued to the book.

"Salutations," Cameron said, his robe whipping around him from the wind.

I nodded. "Sup, big papi and 'lil mama."

Astrid smiled softly. "You're back to your old self."

I blinked. "Uh-yeah, I guess," I lied. I would never truly be myself again.

I handed them the book, both of them giving me quizzical expressions. "What is this?"

I smiled. "It's Nash and I's story."

Cameron's eyes widened. "Holy shit."

I nodded, laughing. "I know, I know."

He set the book down and stood on the step of the bleachers, the football field before him. "See all you fuckers at the reunion!" He flipped the crowd off, yet no one was really around anymore to see him. The few that did, ignored him.

He sighed, dropping his hands and turning to us. "I want some ice-cream."

Astrid laughed. "We'll go get some after this."

He looked to me. "Wanna third wheel?"

I looked up at the sky. "Thanks but I have a Willow pizza waiting for me at home."
