Chapter 13

 Ella's POV

Everything seemed to be a blur. All I remembered was drinking my soda, then THUMP.

I was lying face first on the floor, head throbbing as my body felt so heavy I couldn't even move. My eyes shut and I felt like they would never ever open again.

I could hear nothing. I could see nothing. My voice wasn't working. I couldn't say anything even if I wanted too. It was peaceful almost. Except the fact that I desperately wanted to be freed from the state I was in. Was I dead? Was I still alive? Was I stuck in between?

"Sweetie, you've gotta wake up." I heard a soothing voice say to me.

Who said that?

"Dear, don't be silly. You don't recognize your own mother's voice?"

Suddenly, a bright light shone in front of me, it flashed, sparkled, and dazzled, my eyes opening and registering this new world I was opened up to. Was this heaven? Behind the light pink clouds floating around, peeks of sun were shooting out, lightly up this heavenly realm. I felt like this was a dream. Then again, it felt so real. I could feel my feet bouncing off the clouds. I could feel the fabric of the plain white dress I was wearing. I could feel the warmth of the sun on my pale, misty body. This couldn't be real, but I couldn't help but want it to be. Whatever this was, I liked it.

My mom was there. No sign of Daddy. She motioned me over to where she was. I quickly ran over and ran into my deceased mother's arms. We embraced, heavenly bodies trembling against each other. She kissed me all over my face, making me smile wider.

"You've grown, my dear!" She cupped my face, almost like she couldn't believe it was me. I just laughed and nodded. It was all I could manage to do, really. "Oh, Renee, you've become such a lovely girl."

"Thank you." I smiled as I registered my mother's blonde hair I never received and her beautiful brown eyes I was grateful for. They seemed to be sparkling. They were alive. She seemed to be alive. She was breathing, moving, everything.

This can't be a dream. I must be dead, I kept thinking. I must be dead. This is my life now. Forever and ever.

"Is Daddy here?" I asked quietly.

"Which one?" She asked, a big grin on her face.

My eyes widened, making her laugh. She gripped my shoulders and looked right into my eyes. “They’ve been waiting a long time to see you. Especially Geoff.”

"I can see both of them, right?”

“Of course, Ella. Come with me.” She took my hand, enveloping mine in hers. I just stared at our intertwined hands. They were misty, almost see through, but yet I could feel hers still there. She just lead me off towards the horizon, humming to herself like there wasn’t a care in the world. Sure, I loved the feeling, but everything just seemed so . . . off. Almost too perfect. I didn’t question it. Though I longed to be back with Meg and Luke and Louis and Liam. There was a longing ache in my heart. I wanted to go back.

“At least give Walter and Geoff a proper hello, Ella.” My mum said, almost reading my mind.

“I can go back though right?”

“Talk to Jessica. She’ll see what she can do.”

I had no idea who this Jessica was, but I had a feeling she could help me get back to the other world. Back to earth. Away from wherever I currently was right now. I didn’t know how long I was here, or how I possibly could be here for. I couldn’t help but wonder, as I walked along the clouds with my mother, misty feet glittering down below, if anyone really missed me.
