The story so far:

---- Aija is a Volunteer at the Pristine School at Innermost. She works along with Zuri and Ze, who are her friends. Aija witnesses a strange event one night – light emanating from Rez's body. The kidnapper is after her soul, next, but he leaves her alive and goes away. Another man finds her, he wants to take her somewhere else - Aija though wary of him agrees. Aija learns of the existence of the aliens – the Ytai. Also, about the R'ies and H'eon, Harvesting and Àvo from Etrie. Etrie tells her that the man, who Harvested Rez (Thieron), will now go after her. He tells her that the spy/kidnapper's name is Luka. Etrie asks her to work along with him.

---- Aija is invited by Etrie for a Harvest Stopping Mission. Aija tells Zuri about Quinn – she's to meet him as an order from the Leadership. Kuna, who works for Etrie, picks Aija up for the mission. Etrie partners Aija with Kuna for the night. Aija goes along with Kuna as he trails the target – a girl. The Harvesters turn up for the girl's soul, it ensues in an attack in which the target's friend is hurt.

---- They manage to save the target – Taylor. But her friend dies. Aija is affected by all the events and cries. Aija agrees to work along with Etrie on Harvest Stopping Missions.

---- Ze, after the dinner with Aija and Zuri, woke to find himself in the basement, still. He goes back home, and he hears news that there is a kidnapping. He goes to check it out and finds Zuri, who tells him she is unable to contact Aija. Later, they find Aija returning to the Apartment but Ze finds something off about her – she's still in the same clothes as last night.

****11.1 - Ze****

The dining table and sofa hovered mid-air.

Ze opened his eyes and was proud of what he saw. He was able to lift heavier objects now. He set them down to their places and switched on the light in the room without touching the switch. He had mastered switching on and off the lights as well, by removing the auto mode.

Ze had been practicing using his powers at the Apartment every day before school. He had soon found out that he was getting better, quicker. His mother would be horrified if she ever found out. So he had never used his powers at his aunt's house again. He had made himself a routine – wake up early by four-thirty, practice his powers for about an hour and then go for a run for about half an hour to forty-five minutes. He felt the running helping him. It helped him focus better and made him stronger. He felt the discipline of his routine calming.

Ze changed into his running clothes and shoes. He inserted the two small sound rounds into his ears and left; the door beeped twice as it auto-locked.

"Start the music," he commanded into his Scroll now shrunken on his wrist.

The playlist of his favorite classical music started, and he took the stairs two at a time. Once he reached the open lawn between the blocks of buildings, he broke into a run. He looped between the blocks of buildings on the grass. He increased his pace slightly, midway. He wondered where Zuri and Aija had come across the songs they had been listening to the first time he had visited them at Zuri's place - the songs with people singing in them.

They were good – those old-world songs as Aija had told him. He made a mental note to ask them sometime if he could have them; they would be so much better to listen to when he worked out. He wondered why the Leadership had banned such beautiful music. He contemplated what the logic was behind anything that they did.

He finished his run and stopped in the open lawns a little distance from the buildings. He was sweating, and he sat down to regulate his breathing.

Ze thought about his powers. Would he be able to lift more massive objects with practice? Would he be able to do more? But, what would he do with his powers? He knew he was supposed to be doing something with it. Something good; but what was it?

Who had he got his powers from? Or, from what? His mother didn't like to speak of it. She avoided talking about it as much as possible. She hated talking about it. She also never spoke of his father; Ze had never seen him. He had once overheard his mother and aunt speaking of his father. But, the only information he had gathered from it was that his father had left even before his mother herself knew she was pregnant with Ze.

Ze kept asking her if his father left because of him only to instigate her into saying something about him, but she adamantly refused to speak of him. There was an immense possibility that his father didn't even know that he existed. The thought made him sad.

Ze felt like his powers were connected to his father. It was apparent his mother didn't possess such powers – she outright despised them. If not his mother, then it had to be from his father. Right...? Unless he was involved in some kind of freak accident or much worse – he was an experiment. Ze hated the thought of it.

Once he caught his breath, he performed a few stretching exercises. He had always liked the physical defense classes that were mandatory in school. Everyone was supposed to attend those classes – to keep fit and learn how to protect themselves. There always had been kidnappings and people going missing without obvious reasons. Only recently they had become frequent, and they were making the news more often. He had enjoyed those classes as a child. He had also been the best in class, which is why he had first been interested in joining the Army (though it wasn't of much use lately) or the Secures.

Ze bent backward stretching his back. The sun's light was slowly oozing into the dark sky and eating up the shining stars. He leaned forward stretching as much as possible and as he straightened, he saw her.

Aija was walking towards Block H – with two young men. She was even wearing one of their jackets; it was huge on her, drowning her arms. One of the men was holding hands with her. Ze paused his stretching and moved a few steps further to catch a better look.

The three of them went in through the main entrance; they would be taking the elevator. What in the world was Aija up to? How many times had she gone out like this? He was seeing her for the first time.

He waited to see if the two men would leave. He went into the building through the main entrance and sat there in the lobby looking at his Scroll. After about fifteen minutes, the two young men exited the elevator. One of them was still not having his jacket – Aija still had it, then. Was she seeing that man? And the other man; was he his friend?

But, dating was not allowed. The Leadership chose one's partner. She would be in danger if she really were seeing him. He had to warn her. Maybe Zuri knew about it. He had to speak to them.

Ze took a shower; the different oils blended into the soap smelled good as he lathered himself with it. He couldn't believe Aija of all the people he knew would be seeing someone secretly. Zuri, he could believe. But, Zuri was doing no such thing, and Aija was. The quiet ones always did the most surprising things.

And then he remembered the day the boy Rez had gone missing – Aija had been out the whole day. She hadn't told Zuri that she was out and hadn't replied to a single text message or call. Had Aija been out with that man, then too?

Oh damn! What was Aija getting herself into?
