Chapter Two

I somehow heard my breathing louder than before. It felt as if somebody had blocked my ears, freeing me from the noise raging on in the world. My eyes didn't want to open their eyelids. They stayed shut, almost being glued together by every brand of super glue. I heard a faint beep. It was almost as if the sound came closer to me, becoming more clearer by the second.

When I gathered the energy, I forced myself to be able to see again. It scared me to remain in the darkness of the mind. Blinding light hurt my irises when they weren't protected by skin. My hands automaitcally went into fists, grabbing the sheets beneath me. They felt unfamiliar and rough, not like the soft, silk sheets I got used to know.

I felt a hand stroke my cheek. When I looked up rather to quickly, Ally hovered over me with a sad smile. I felt like running away. My throat was scratching and my head didn't seam to be mercyfull with headaches. "What hap..?" I caught myself off with a fit of coughs. Ally grabbed a glass of water and told me to drink up. I did as commanded.

"You got drugged."

I almost spat the freezing liquid that ran down my throat back out. "Drugged?!"

Ally combed her locks with her fingers. It's then when I realised how dark the circles under her blue eyes were. Her face looked as white as porcelain under the lights. Every single one of the vains in her face seemed to pop out into shades of purple and blue. I don't even want to wonder what I looked like.

"Luke said you just fainted in his arms while he was walking home. After he called me we rushed you to hospital, but we don't remember you actually drinking anything so we didn't think somebody spiked your drink, but the doctor said otherwise."

I saw the sun looming over the mountain outside of the window. "What about going back home?" I asked. "Well, our flight got canceled until tonight. You just need to focus on getting better."

I tried to straighten my back and sit up, but I felt weak and vulnerable. "Wow, hang on there chap." I couldn't help but smile as I heard Luke's comment fill the cold air around us. "Luke."

"Elle, I'm so sorry for leaving you alone or for even taking you to that club." He had walked closer to the hospital bed with his hair ruffled. "You left me alone?" I frowned.

"Yes, to help that lady who couldn't cross the road. Remember?"

I shook my head. I only remember storming out of a building with white walls. "You even said she was just an oxygen stealer." I laughed at his statement, but only a weasing sound came out. "Oh, and you screamed so that's probably why you sound like a dying sheep."

I glared at Luke as the doctor came in. "Miss Parker, I see you are awake." The doctor was dark colored with a fancy white coat. He had a relaxing aurora to him.

"Well, how are you feeling?" He had walked over to my side of the bed after dismissing Ally and Luke. "I'm okay, I guess."

He looked at me skeptically for a second with his beady eyes. "It's normal not to remember after the drug they used on you. It paralizes you completely. You should be glad you got found on time." He placed his thumb to my wrist while looking at his watch. "Your pulse is normal, so you are getting better."

I removed my pale hand from his grip, but he didn't let go. Instead his eyes lingered on my shoulder. I wanted to pull away and tell him he was a creep, but then I realised what he was looking so intently at. I stared down at my collarbone in shock. I had hand made bruises all over my arm and right shoulder. "How?.." I asked in disbelief. I don't remember anybody touching me in the slightest way. Not even a flash of memory seemed to invade my mind. Nor a face or any rememberance.

"It looks like you got abused. I have to report this to the police. For now don't worry and get dressed, because I'm discharging you. I do need you to come for checkups when you arrive back here, okay?"

I nodded as he pulled the curtain back and closed the room door behind him. I was left to wonder about what had happened. Luke said he left me for a few seconds to help somebody, but how could so much happen in such a short space of time? Was a gang upon me or did they drag me into a dark alley?

I honestly hope I get my memory back.

After slipping on the baggy jeans Ally brought carefully over my slightly bruised legs, I tied my hair up and waited for Luke to fetch me.

A few minutes felt like hours as I watched the clock tick. I finally heard faint voices coming closer down the hallway. Luke seemed to be talking to a nurse right outside the door. I really couldn't help but eavesdrop. "She is going to be weak, and I'm not so sure that the blondey will be able to take care of her." A lady voice said strictly but gently to Luke. I heard him sigh before speaking. "She is all I have apart from Ally, and look how much I messed up. It's completely on me. So I'm going with her tonight."

"Okay, just be careful. Come, I'd really like to finish my patient now," That was the last I heard the lady say before the door opened and they came in. I stared in disbelief as a similar looking Luke came into view with the same almond eyes and the same brunette hair, except hers were longer.

"Morning Miss Parker. I just came to give you your last meds," I smiled sweetly at her as Luke sat down next to me. "Drink this." She said and handed me a plastic cup as well as three different looking pills.

"I hereby discharge you." She smiled at me and then at Luke before leaving with a metal tray.

"I know what you're thinking. The reason I never told you was because it's embarrassing." Luke grabbed the handle of my mini suitcase with his other hand helping me stand up. "Embarrassing?" I lifted my eyebrow. An action many people were jealous of. "Yes. A nurse as a mom."

"At least she isn't a stripper." His raspy chuckle vibrated through me after my comment. "That's true."

We walked through the hospital after signing the release vorms. I felt horrible seeing so many people landing in a place they never deserved to be. It reminded me of the time Conner was in a coma. It was so horrible even though I didn't know him that well.

"What are you thinking about?" Luke snapped me out of my thoughts as he started his car. I was so captivated by the thoughts and questions in my mind that I didn't notice I was safely seated in his car.

"Oh, just a childhood friend."

I thought back to when he said he was going with me tonight. "Are you flying with us?"

I saw the hesitation in his features before he nodded. "I'm so sorry Elle. It's all my fault. I just don't want something like this to happen again. I feel an urgent need to protect you and I failed last night."

"Luke." I said his name but got no reaction. "Luke, look at me." When I commanded, he turned his face to mine. "I decided to run off after Rob perved on me, not you. I dragged you home with me. It's practically my fault."

"But I shouldn't have left you!" He shouted as his knuckles turned white around the wheel. I flinched at his sudden tone and he seemed to notice because his features softened.

"I'm glad you are coming with. I'd like my mom to meet the guy who helped me pass this year." I said with a smile. He laughed slightly before pulling up in front of my apartment in the same busy street I saw everyday.

"I'd like to meet the person who raised you to be an amazing, independent woman." I hit his arm playfully and scowled at him. "Since when have you used such formal words?"

He looked at me with a frown as he was thinking.

"Since you came into my life actually."
