Third Person P.O.V

It had been a month now. One long, weary, and lonely month since John and Dave had split up. They had agreed it was for the best. That they fought too often and would be better off separate. That didn't mean it hurt any less for either party. Dave stopped going out to hang out with Karkat and Terezi and John seemed less excited about everything. Even Nick Cage movies didn't hit him the same way. They missed each other. But they remembered their agreement and didn't want to sound clingy. They hated it but they stayed apart. Just like any other day, Dave was sitting in his room alone with his music. John had just gotten in the car and turned on the radio. John had to go to the store despite really not wanting to. They both just so happened to flip to the same station at the same time. It started playing a song that they couldn't help but sing along to. A song they could relate to. "You only need the light when it's burning low. Only miss the sun when it starts to snow. Only know you love her when you let her go. Only know you've been high when you're feeling low. Only hate the road when you're missing home. Only know you love her when you let her go. And you let her go. You let her go. Staring at the bottom of your glass, hoping one day you'll make a dream last. But dreams come so slow and you go so fast. You see her when you close your eyes, maybe one day you'll understand why. Everything you touch it surely dies. But you only need the light when it's burning low. Only miss the sun when it starts to snow. Only know you love her when you let her go. Only know you've been high when you're feeling low. Only hate the road when you're missing home. Only know you love her when you let her go. Staring at the ceiling in the dark, same old empty feeling in your heart. Love comes slow and it goes so fast. You see her when you fall asleep. But never to touch and never to keep. Cause you loved her too much, and you dived too deep. But you only need the light when it's burning low. Only miss the sun when it starts to snow. Only know you love her when you let her go. Only know you've been high when you're feeling low. Only hate the road when you're missing home. Only know you love her when you let her go. But you let her go. You let her go. Cause you only need the light when it's burning low. Only miss the sun when it starts to snow. Only know you love her when you let her go. You only know you're high when you're feeling low. Only hate the road when you're missing home. Only know you love her when you let her go. But you let her. Go." By the time the song was over, both boys had tears in their eyes. John could barely see the road so he pulled over, turned off the car, placed his head on the steering wheel, and cried. Dave turned off his own music, removed his shades, and cried as well. John had been the only one besides Bro to have ever seen his eyes. Dave had been the first one John had admitted his homosexuality too even if he didn't have feelings for Dave at the time. He had been the only one to know for quite a while. Memory after memory flowed through their minds. All the happy times they had spent together as both friends and a couple. It was heart-wrenching for the both of them. Eventually, Dave couldn't take it any longer. He picked up his phone and called John, praying he hadn't blocked his number. John hadn't so when his phone rang he quickly wiped his eyes and composed himself before checking the number. He was shocked to see Dave's name staring back at him. Dave had wiped his own eyes and mostly composed himself as he waited for John to pick up or hang up. Slowly, John answered. "Yeah, Dave?" There was a pause as Dave thought of what exactly to say. "I... I miss you, John..." His voice cracked as he spoke. There was another pause. "I... I miss you too, Dave... But we agreed. It's better this way..." Tears were forming in both their eyes again. "I know I know... I just... I don't know... My life's been terrible without you..." John sighed. "Mine too..." There was a long pause. "I still love you, John..." "I... I still love you, Dave... I still love you too..." "Can we... Maybe... Give it another shot?" John thought for a moment. "Yeah. Sure. I'm coming over. I'll see you soon. I love you, Dave." He replied with a wide smile. Dave smiled as well at the words and put his shades back on as he spoke. "Great. See you soon John. I love you too." Dave hung up and sat up happily to wait for John. John started his car and got back on the road with a new destination in mind. He could shop later. Right now he wanted nothing more than to see his boyfriend again.
