Before this chapter starts I just want to say that in Harley's back story at some point in the DC universe she had Alzheimers/dementia and I wanted to write a story part about what I think this may have been like so obviously this won't be the happiest chapter ever but let me know what you think.

Harley was dancing on stage when she saw the joker looking at one of the waitresses. She kept dancing and thought nothing of it until he slapped her arse when she brought him a drink. She shot her a death glare but carried on dancing. She would get into so much trouble if she made a scene. The joker stood up and whistled her over. Like an obedient dog she followed instantly. He walked out the club and got in the car. As he waited for her he checked he had the right number in his phone by texting her. 'Hey.' He put his phone in his pocket and waited for an answer. Harley jumped into the car and he tore off down the road. He swerved round other cars and pulled up outside their house. Harley stepped out the car trying not to let on that she was angry. She walked in and went straight up to bed. The joker went into the kitchen and got out his phone. 'Hey J.' He smiled. It had been too long since he picked up a girl. He liked the attention. He deleted the messages then followed Harley up. "Harley baby I got you a drink." He opened the door to find her crying on the bed. He put her drink down on the bedside table, sat on the edge of the bed and stroked her hair. "Harls what's wrong?" She knocked his arm away. "Harley!" She stood up and downed the wine he had got her. "I saw you puddin! I saw you smack that waitress. What the fuck were you thinking? Am I not good enough puddin?" He bowed his head. "Baby listen it was just a bit of fun. It didn't mean anything." Then Harley's memory went. "Puddin your the best!" She jumped over the bed and hugged him. "Harley baby are you ok?" He asked concerned. "As long as I have you I'm fine." She looked up and was beaming. The joker kissed her forehead then instructed her to go to bed. As he got undressed he began to think. He began to get worried. "Harley baby... how far back can you remember?" She shrugged. "Depends." He cuddled her. "On what baby?" She shrugged again. "Just depends on the moment. Sometimes years sometimes minutes. Sometimes I forget things but who doesn't. I'm fine before you start to worry." He whispered to himself. "Too late." She looked up at him. "What did you say puddin?" He shook his head. "Nothing baby good night. Sleep well." Harley turned her lamp off consuming the room in darkness." He stared at the ceiling and squeezed her. "Puddin. Am I ok?" He felt a tear roll down his cheek. "Of course baby girl your okay. Why do you ask?" She shrugged and cuddled into him. "I keep forgetting things... I'm scared... what if I forget you?" He felt her tears fall onto his chest. He held her tight. "You won't baby now go to sleep. You need to rest." He felt a few more tears before she finally drifted off. He lay there just stroking her hair for a while until he too drifted off to sleep.

// a few months later //
"Harley baby please calm down." He tried to hold her but she hit him. "Get away from me you creep!"
"Harley it's me!" He shouted at her. "Its jokey! It's your puddin!" She suddenly hugged him tightly. "I'm sorry Mr J please don't hurt me. I didn't mean to forget to do my jobs I'm so sorry." He wrapped his arms around her head holding her to his chest. "It's ok baby you didn't mean to." Her memory had faded so much over the past few months. It kept getting worse. This is the second time she had a violent outburst at him. "I don't wanna forget you!" She cried into his chest. He just stroked her hair soothingly knowing it was just a matter of time. He knew he had to cherish every moment with her from now.
It was later that day and Harley was in the kitchen. She was washing up when she completely lost her bearings and didn't have a clue what she was doing. She put the plate down and dried her hands before going upstairs. She opened his office door.
"Harley what are you doing?" She didn't answer him she just looked around the room.
"Harley talk to me." Still nothing.
"Harley!" She looked at him and her eyes seemed empty. She shut the door and left. She ran after her and saw her walking downstairs.
"Harley!" He ran down the stairs and stopped her at the front door.
"Harley where are going?" He tried to sound sweet. She just shrugged and suddenly seemed to come back. She fell into him and started to cry.
"I'm so confused Mr J I don't like it."
He stroked her picked her up and carried her to the sofa.
"I know baby it's ok I'll always be here."

As the months went by Harley's memory got worse and worse. They had to stop crime as Harley couldn't remember what she was doing. She would only remember him sometimes.

The Joker walked up the stairs with Harley's lunch. He pushed the bedroom door open slowly.
"What are you doing?" Harley asked seeming stressed.
"It's ok I just brought you lunch baby." She looked at him confused for a second then relaxed. It broke his heart to see her like this. He set the tray on her lap and she began to eat. After eating about half the plate she threw the tray onto the floor. He couldn't help but get angry.
"What the fuck Harls?!" She looked at him tears in her eyes.
"Why are you shouting at me." Seeing her like this was destroying him.
"Harley baby you threw your food." She looked at floor and back at him.
"Did I?" He nodded and she began to cry.
"I'm so sorry Puddin. I didn't realise." He pulled her in close. He couldn't help but smile as she still remembered him.
"It's ok baby I've got you. Your puddins got you."
