Five Ways to Ruin a Relationship
by the Group
1) MIND GAMES:
You or your partner tries to be manipulative by saying stuff that makes the other feel bad. To get what you want, one of you might say: “If you love me, you’ll have sex with me.” or “I love you but I’m not in love with you.”
2) JEALOUSY:
You or your partner is very possessive and tries to control who the other spends time with. “I don’t like the way that guy looks at you. You’re not hanging around with him anymore.”
3) CO¬DEPENDENCY:
You and your partner feel like you can’t get emotional support from anybody except each other. “If you don’t love me, nobody will.”
4) DISRESPECT:
You or your partner does or says things that will hurt the other—for example, name¬calling or cheating. This might be behind the other person’s back, in person, or in front of other people.
5) THREATS OR VIOLENCE:
You or your partner uses, or threatens to use, physical force against the other. This is abuse and it’s never okay!
