SOTC : Circles - Passenger

Gladly the weekend was the next day. Danyelle and I had slept in till twelve in the afternoon. Michael let us sleep, he told me he'd heard us talking.

Michael and Danyelle went off to find jobs for Danyelle so I stayed home with Benjie.

I lounged on the couch and watched tv while Benjie colored in a book on the floor. The front door opened and closed.

"Why are you guys back so early?" I called.

Calum appeared in the doorway and smiled.

"I just got here whatcha talking about mate?" He giggled.

"Oh, I thought you were Michael and Danyelle, sorry." I laughed.

"Is Michael not here right now?" He frowned.

"No, why?" I smiled.

I sat up and turned the tv off. My full attention was on Calum now.

"Oh never mind." He nervously chuckled.

He started for the door.

"Wait, Calum!" I called. "You can talk to me."

I patted the empty seat next to me. Calum slowly made his way to the couch, and sat down next to me. Benjie had switched out the notebook for YouTube. I'd given him my headphones and phone while waiting for Calum to sit.

"What's wrong?" I asked.

"I," he paused.

"Yeah?"

"You know I'm gay right?" He spoke seriously.

"And?" I laughed.

His eyes grew wide.

"No, I didn't know. But do I care? No." I smiled.

"Well.." He hesitated.

"Take your time." I encouraged.

"I love Michael." He mumbled quickly.

"Wow." I mumbled.

"Yeah.. It's unfortunate to fall in love with someone you can never have." Calum mumbled.

"Why can't you have him?" I asked.

"Well didn't he tell you?" He spoke hesitantly.

"No.." I mumbled slowly.

"It's not my place to say." He frowned.

"No, please tell me." I begged.

"Jai, he likes Jai." Calum mumbled.

His head fell, along with my heart. I held Calum in my arms. It's funny how I'm broken but I'm helping everyone else.

"I'll sweet talk to Michael and persuade him to get with you." I tried joking.

Calum glanced up at me, he looked like such a puppy. A big smile grew wide on his face. I let go of the hug just as Michael and Danyelle walked in.

Calum got up from the couch and said goodbye to everyone. I gave him one last hug, and said goodbye.

"Michael, can we talk?" I asked.

He nodded and followed me into the kitchen.

"Did you ever talk to Jai?"

"Yeah." He smiled.

"What'd he say?" I asked.

"He wouldn't tell me, I didn't want to annoy him. But he did want me to tell you that he was sorry." Michael frowned.

"Is there something you wanna tell me?" I frowned.

"No.. Why?" He chuckled.

"Michael do you have any feelings for Jai?" I spoke lightly.

Michael chocked, and his cheeks grew rosy red.

"No." He mumbled.

I stared at him.

"Fine. Yes I do, I'm sorry I can't help it. I've known him since I started college." He mumbled quickly.

"I'm not mad, but I know someone who's upset about it." I spoke.

"Calum?" He frowned.

"How'd you know?"

"Seriously?" He spoke excitedly.

"Why are you excited?" I muttered.

"I'm not.." He tried to cover up.

"Oh." I muttered.

"Why is he upset?" He asked awkwardly.

"That's not my place to tell you, call him up or something. Just a tip though, asking him in person is better." I smiled.

I walked off, and used my crutches for support.

I entered into the living room, Danyelle shared news that she would start a job on Monday after school. Michael came back into the living room and explained we would be moving into our new apartment in the next two or three weeks.

I'm not all that flattered with the idea of being crammed in a small space, but it's more about what we can afford.

----
