My name's Kai and I'm Kylo Ren's best friend. I'm a Jedi like him but it's not my strong suit. I'm better at engineering and building, so that's what I do.

I looked down at the mask. Turning the loosening the screws of the respirator. I opened it and started messing with it. Trying to get it to conceal uneven breathing. Kylo sure needed that, he hates that anyone can tell when he's angry. He defiantly thinks he's more subtle than he is.

"What are you doing to my mask." Kylo said walking into my room.

"Modifying your mask, idiot." I said looking up at him. A small smile broke out on his usually stoic face. "You know I can't leave this thing alone."

"You can't leave anything alone." He said. I knew what he was talking about.

"Hey! That wasn't my fault!" I yelled.

"If you hadn't put the compressor on the hyper speed, I could've stopped the accident"

"You ran into a fucking wall!!" I yelled standing up and throwing the helmet on my bed behind me. "You're just a terrible pilot, face it." I said smirking, putting my hands on my hips.

Kylo glared at me angrily. He pushed me down onto the bed playfully. I let out a giggle.

"Take that back!" He yelled.

"What? I'm only telling the truth." I said smiling up at the ceiling. He walked to my side and leaned down over me, entering my line of sight. "You know it's true." I said.

He rubbed his face with his hands. I sat up, my side screaming in protest, I ignored it, I was used to it at this point. I stood up and walked around to Kylo. He was distressed, I wasn't used to this, he usually just lashes out. I didn't know what to do. He looked up to me, his eyes sad, tears forming.

"Hey, what's wrong?" I asked placing my hand on his arm comfortingly.

"I'm sorry, I never should've been flying that ship." He said.

"Hey, your right but it's alright." I said trying to keep the mood lighter.

"No it's not!" He said suddenly angry, turning on his heel and slamming his fist into the wall.

"Stop!" I pleaded grabbing his hand. He yanked his hand out of mine.

"I destroy everything I touch!" He yelled angrily. He reached out towards his saber.

"No! Kylo stop!" I yelled. He didn't he took his saber off of his belt. Before he could activate it I Force pulled the saber out of his hand and caught it. He looked at me, anger flashed in his eyes. For a split second, I feared him.

There was so much anger in him that was directed towards me and never had been before. "You need to calm down. What happened happened, you can't change that."

His ragged breathing calmed and he closed his eyes and breathed deeply, slowing his heartbeat. He opened his eyes and looked at me, sadness filling his eyes.

"I'm sorry." He said softly. I smiled at him.

"It's alright big guy." I said, still trying to lighten the mood, tossing his saber at him. He grabbed it out of the air but flinched and dropped it. I Force caught it before hit the ground and pulled it into my hand. I slid the saber into my belt next to my own saber and walked over to Kylo.

He was looking down at his gloved hand. Flexing it and flinching with every movement.

I grabbed his wrist and pulled his glove off, he sucked in a sharp breath.

His knuckles were bloody, I could see the bone peaking through his skin on his middle knuckle.

"Kylo, you gotta stop punching walls." I said shaking my head. I pushed him down onto the bed. I sat next to him and took his hand. Blood was dropping down from his knuckles onto my clothes.

I sandwiched his hand between my palms smearing blood on them.

"What are you doing?" Kylo asked.

"Something Snoke taught me. I needed to practice anyway." I said. He clenched his jaw.

I closed my eyes and meditated. Focusing deeply on the Force. I heard Kylo suck in a sharp breath and his hand twitched under mine.

I finally opened my eyes and took my now bloody hands off of Kylo's. The wound had
completely healed. Leaving small white scars in their place.

"Snoke never taught me how to do that." He said breaking into a smile, running his fingers over the scars.

"He said usually it's a waste of time but in my case..." I trailed off ashamed of my ineptness.

"Kai, you're not a bad Jedi. You're incredibly powerful just not..."

"Not in the way that counts." I finished.

"To Snoke." Kylo finished. I smiled and he smiled back. He grabbed the back of my head and kissed my forehead lovingly.

"Thanks." I said weakly.

"Now give my saber back, I want to show you what Snoke is teaching me." Kylo said happily, half laughing and holding his hand out. I rolled my eyes and slapped his saber in his palm.

I picked up his helmet and continued fiddling with it as he showed me the sloppy Makashi moves he'd learned. Laughing when he tripped on his feet.

I wish it could always be like this. Be this simple.
