As I was watching TV on an occasion, I happened to see a commercial featuring a kite. At the moment it struck me, kites can fly exceptionally well, but only if they are held back by a string. Life is kinda like that, it presents us with winds of opportunity and failure. It both extols and denigrates us. Without something grounding us and providing stability in our lives, we can be blown out of control. While we may soar high, eventually, without something to provide a base in our lives, we will crash. Our job is to find a base, to get tied to something, so that no matter what life presents, we will be able to harness it for our advantage. Moreover, that we will be harnessed for our purpose with the Lord.
