The moment Claire stepped out of the private elevator and took three steps, she was surrounded by multiple employees, all wearing faces full of concern.

“What’s wrong?” Claire blinked in surprise at them. “Did something happen?”

“We should be asking you that.”

“What did Heath Bishop want with you on the top floor?”

“Did you get in trouble?”

“Are you getting fired?!”

“Whoa, whoa!” Claire raised her voice. “Nothing like that is happening! Heath just brought me up on the top floor to have a little talk.” Their stares of concern immediately changed into stares of misinterpretation. Suggestive misinterpretation that involved eyebrows lifting and quick, shared glances. “Logan also happened to be with us. Now get back to work.” She added flatly before she stomped past them.

What was wrong with everyone in the hotel? First the kids, now the employees? There was absolutely no personal relationship going on between Heath and Claire, but it seemed everyone thought otherwise.

Claire went to the front desk to give a few of the receptionists a break. As she was looking through the computer, checking which guests were still in and which were out, she saw that Aiden Johnson’s name had completely disappeared from the databases. Claire couldn’t help it when a small smile formed on her lips.

Movement from the corner of her eye made her look up towards the daycare room, and she saw that Jenny had been sticking her head out and looking at her with curious eyes. But then she suddenly turned around and said something and soon enough, Elli came out of the room and walked straight towards Claire.

There weren’t any guests needing assistance at the front desk, so Claire just patiently sat and waited as Elli came up to her with a look full of expectations.

“I heard what happened.” She said in simple terms.

“And what exactly did you hear?”
