Sparkling

CHAPTER 5

"I can't allow Jane to be around this boy. It might ruin my plans". Scarlet said. She moves out and walks into the library. "It's been a while", she said as she closed the door behind her.  She walks to the far end of the room  and pulls out a big black book that was placed behind the shelf. Immediately, the shelf begun to make a creaking sound and out of nowhere the shelf opened into two. Scarlet walks through the secret passage. After some minutes, she comes into a dark place. It looked like no one had been there in days because the place was dusty. She pulls the string and the lights comes on . The room was filled with old boxes and bottles and on the walls there were pictures of some people. Some pictures were old and crossed out with a red pen and others too were new. She walks to one of the pictures which was a young lady. "Oh dear Mara, you brought this upon yourself. If you had agreed quietly, none of this would have happened. But here we are. You lost everything and I Now have everything. Your house, your family and your kingdom. But that's not all. I still need to get the key to the gate of Alexander. That fool Nigel refused to  open the gate for me even before I tried to kill him. He was such a foolish King. But I do know one thing. The gate can only be opened by a true queen of Xander and that's what your daughter is going to do for me once I turn her into a queen. I hope you're enjoying at where you are Mara because you're going to be there forever". "And you my dear Anna",she said as she turns to Anna's picture. "If you're not careful with me and your son tries to get in my way, it might not end well", she said with a grin

"This is the best birthday ever! ", Jane said as she held Chris's hand . "Thanks for the hang out Chris" . "Oh don't mention it Anna. You know I'll do anything for you. We should do this another time". "Yeah sure" Jane replied. "I'll see you tomorrow",Chris said as he kissed her on the forehead. Jane replied with a smile

"I can't believe Chris is not answering my calls", Anna said as she furiously puts the phone out. "Mum?", Chris said behind her. "Oh my God Chris you're okay", Anna runs to hug him. "I was so worried about you why weren't you answering my calls", "I'm sorry mum, I didn't see you calling". "You don't know how worried I was. Don't tell me you were with princess Jane. The queen was very angry today. She said you kidnapped her daughter. And even threatened me". "She threatened you! , who does she think she is". Chris replied furiously. "Calm down my son, I don't want you to mingle with the royals. Know your place",Anna said in a pleading tone. "I'm sorry mom but I can't".  "why can't you?",Anna asked. "Because I love Jane mom I really do"
There was a long silence before Anna finally spoke. "I'm sorry son, I didn't know you liked the princess. I didn't even speak to her well today. I'm so sorry my dear. But even though you love her you can't be together. The queen will never allow you. She despises you", "who said I care about that mom. The most important thing is that Jane loves me too. Forget her mum there's nothing she can do. I'm not afraid of her."

"Mum", Jane said as she entered her mum's lair. "where have you been Jane. You scared the hell out of me", Scarlet said. "I'm sorry mother I didn't mean to get you worried. I was just trying to get a little time with myself". "It's okay my love ", Scarlet said as she hugs Jane.  "I know you were with that bastard, but don't worry, very soon he'll be history ", Scarlet said to herself. "There's something I want to show you my dear come with me", Scarlet said. She takes Jane to the top of the tower. They enter through a dark place and finally came to a great gate. "The great gates of Alexander ", Jane said as she read the writings on the statue standing in front of the gate. "I thought it was a myth. I didn't know it was real", Jane said surprised. "It is real my darling. The great gates of Alexander is the soul of the kingdom of Xander. With the power that the gates hold, one can turn dreams to reality. One could create and destroy nature with just a snap of the finger. Behind the gates is a magical place. But it can only be opened by a Queen". Scarlet said. "Great. Open it then ", Jane said. "I wish I could my dear but you see I'm too old to do that. That's why I want you to become queen. So that you can do what I couldn't do. So that you can save our people from crisis. Listen my dear, this is the reason why I'm so desperate to make you a queen as soon as possible. You are the one to save our kingdom. It's your destiny so I'm begging you, please accept this". After a long silence Jane finally spoke, " I'm so sorry mum. I thought you were forcing me to be a queen. I didn't know it was for our own good. I'm really sorry mum", Jane said with tears in her  eyes. "Now tell me my daughter, will you be Queen of Xander?", Scarlet asked, "yes mum. I'll be Queen".....
