CLÍODHNA EISDRACHEN POINT OF VIEW

The four walls of my room seem to close in on me, as the rain pounds against my open window.

The silence is deafening, but it feels like my heart is beating loud enough to fill the empty space. Normally, having the love of my life here with me would make me feel complete. However right now, something is off, and it feels like my safe haven could crumble at any moment.

And it's true, a home without the one person who completes you is not a home at all. Hera is my everything and without her, the air in this room feels thick and suffocating.

She is my home, and as long as we are together, any place can be home.

I am anxious that it may collapse under the weight of my thoughts and fears. Her pure presence is the only thing holding my fragile world together.

Hindi kami nakapag-usap ng maayos ni Hera kaninang umaga hanggang tanghali dahil may kinailangan siyang gawin for her Dad.

She is currently reading a book from her favorite series, "Confession to Satan." She seems at peace as she turns the pages, relishing in its dark content.

Pareho kaming nakaupo sa sahig, nakasandal ako sa gilid ng kama ko habang siya naman ay nakasandal sa dibdib ko.

She's comfortable sitting in between my legs. May dalawang kape sa gilid, isa para sa kanya with cream at sa akin na purong black coffee.

"Why do you like books like that? It's too cruel," I asked, puzzled by her love for gruesome stuff.

"It's good. I like the dark side of the story. It's just perfect for me because it's not entirely focused on romance," Hera answers.

I got silent for a bit. Hera is not really a fan of romance, and her favorite author doesn't seem to be either. Kita ko ito sa kanya, hindi siya iyong tipo ng babae na kayang magsimula ng flirty conversation, hindi siya conservative but more on reserve type of person.

"Out of the Confession series, I'd say my fave's the third one - Confession To Satan: Manipulative. She took almost two years to complete that book," Hera said, setting the book aside after finishing another chapter.

"How about iyong mga nauna? Ano ba ang mga title?" I asked, curious about her preferences. She picked up her cup of coffee from the side and took a sip.

"The first book is Infidelity. I hate cheaters so I didn't like it that much, but I loved the main character's detective skills. It's a good story, but I don't usually enjoy books directly related to my profession - I tend to overthink it and imagine it's all true. The second one is Fraudulent, and it's much better. I really dig the twisted plot, and it's lighter than the first book because it's only about corruption in a company. You should read it, Clio," she toldme before adjusting the blanket that covers us both.

"I'm not really into dark romance," I replied. I'm just reading to lift my mood and avoid getting too stressed out. But I'm also open to exploring other genres.

"Why do you like the third book more than the first two?" I asked.

"It's the most brutal one. Written from the perspective of a serial killer. You need to read book 1 and 2 first though, for the best reading experience. Although, they can stand on their own individually," she answers while gazing out at the large window.
