✦
"Where were you?" was the first thing you heard when you unlocked the door, the common area was pitch black, you flipped the light switch.
"Holy Haru, you scared the shit out of me." you gasped when the lights came on and saw a figure with pink hair just sitting on the couch staring menacingly at you.
"Answer my question," he demanded, his voice stern as he strides towards you.
"I went back home to collect my clothes" you muttered as he got uncomfortably close to you, you could hear his every breath.
"Where did you go after"
"I caught up with an old friend," you answered, avoiding eye contact with him. You knew Haru's nature and he'd do more than ask who this 'friend' is. Hanma is the only connection you've left with your brother and you certainly can't allow Haru-, no, Bonten to jeopardize this last remaining friendship.
"Who? A guy?" Haruchiyo continued pressing on, not letting it go.
"It's just an old friend. I'm tired, we'll talk tomorrow" you quickly brushed past him and dragged your luggage to the room.
-
"Hey! You work around here?" a familiar voice called out to you as you stepped out of the office building.
"Hanma? What are you doing here?" you responded as the tall figure dressed in a suit walked towards you, woody fragrance hugged your nostrils as he closed the distance.
"I work around this area. Since you're already here, wanna grab lunch together?" he gave you a sly smile, you checked your surroundings before agreeing to his request.
Unbeknownst to you, Rindo was watching your each and every move outside the office building, with a snap of his finger, his henchman walked up beside him with his head still down, nodding after an order was given to him. He quickly bowed again and left in a hurry seemingly trying to fulfill the orders he had just received.
"I'll see you here again tomorrow then!" Hanma sent you to your office and waved goodbye, after chatting with him you found out that he worked at the building in front of you so the both of you agreed to be lunch buddies as you felt comfortable talking to him. It gave you comfort knowing that you're doing what your brother would have if he was still alive. After all, he did ask Hanma to look after you during his demise.
When you reached your desk and sat down, your colleague told you Rindo called for you. You stood outside his door with a heavy sigh before knocking and entering.
"Sit," Rindo said, his tone flat as he continued flipping through a stack of documents, eyes glued to the desk. You tread lightly to the chair in front of his desk, not because you didn't want to distract him but solely because you're intimidated by the tricks he's gonna pull out of his sleeve next.
After 12 minutes the sound of papers flipping and pen clickings finally came to a halt. Shuffling of leather interrupted the air as Rindo turned his chair to finally face you, he took off the rosegold round glasses that were resting comfortably on his nose, folded them, and gently placed them on the desk.
Your heart was pounding violently at the solemnity, his poker face rendered you nervous and frightened.
"How was your lunch?" Rindo chirped, the corners of his mouth lifted, his pupils barely visible from the smile.
"I-It was alright?" you stuttered at the sudden vibe change. The air was deadly a minute ago but now he's smiling? You're unsure if you should relax your shoulder, or is this another part of the mind games he's playing with you. Did he see you leaving with Hanma? But you made sure to check your surroundings before leaving just to avoid this situation.
"That's good. I call you here to inform you that from tomorrow onwards we'll be having lunch together, I'll be out meeting clients and I need you to be with me at all times." Rindo smiled again, you caught him smirking for a short second.
"Understood.." you muttered under your breath, frustrated that you couldn't say anything else. You saw through Rindo's intentions, he definitely knew you ate with Hanma and now he's stopping your contact with Hanma forcefully under the guise of "work".
"If there's nothing else I shall return back to work" when you stood up and bowed, your hair fell and hid the frustrations on your face however even under those locks it was unable to hide the large grin on Rindo's face from you.
"I hope I didn't interrupt any of your lunch plans~" he jest mockingly as your back faced him, in response you turned your head slightly just enough for him to see the corner of your eyes and lips.
With a slight smile, you retorted playfully, "Seems like I'd have to reschedule." you left the room not turning back once. You heard a loud slam when the door fully shut behind you, a smirk plastered across your face as you skipped and hopped to your desk.
"Y/n 1: Rindo 0" you whispered.
