I stand there in shock, Heath wanted to get our dad out of jail. Brax was pissed, Kyle was worried but hiding it. Casey wasn't impressed but willing for a second chance.
Eyes turn on me, nibbling on my lip. I shrug, I didn't care if he stayed in there or not I barely knew him but from what I heard he was an asshole.
I remember a few times when he was out of jail, he would shower me with gifts and love. But then it would change and he would call me names.
Wringing my hands "I don't care. I don't remember him well enough to judge"
My brothers nod. My leg begins bouncing with anxiety. Eventually Brax loses it yelling at Heath to do what he wants then leaves.
I disappear into my room think, glancing at the photo I have of my brothers *Minus Kyle* mum and dad.
Brax had a split lip, Heath had a bruised cheek, mine and Casey's eyes were red raw from crying, Casey also had a red mark on his cheek from being slapped.
Brax was 20, Heath 16, Casey 7 and me 4. Brax was holding me, while I was reaching for Heath. Dad had his hand on Casey's shoulder and the other arm was wrapped around mums waist.
Dad had started yelling at my eldest brothers, that has scared me and Casey, dad then hit Casey from crying saying he was too old to be crying.
Later that week dad had been arrested, it was the first time he had gone to jail while I was around. I remember Brax yelling that he managed to stay out a measly 5 years.
After that Heath had taken me and Casey to our room, distracting us by playing a game.
Eventually a knock sounds on my door, it's Kyle. Poking his head in, he comes in joining me on my bed. He looks at the photo, smiling.
Then noticing the split lip, red eyes and bruised cheek he frowns. "What happened?"
"My dad, I don't remember mum but he had said something about mum that Brax didn't like, he said something back and got punched. Heath stuck up for him go punched too, dad was yelling scaring Case and I, we're 4 and 7, so of course we're crying. He slapped Casey." I explain.
Continuing "not even a week later he was locked up. Last time I saw him"
Kyle sighs, wrapping me in a hug. "That makes sense. Last time I saw him was my 10th birthday, I want to see him. But I don't want to go through the pain of losing him again"
"I know, but Heath is adamant about getting him out. There's not much we can do"
I nod, "I'm just not looking forward to it" I whisper. Giving me another squeeze "I have to get to work. If he turns up here, call me" he requests. I nod.
