I woke up slowly from a deep, dreamless sleep. I felt myself floating. I finally opened my dry scratchy eyes and couldn't recognize anything. "Where—?!" I bolted upright, looking around at the alien room. "How did I get here?" I was in a very comfortable bed, covered by a deep blue silky soft blanket. Flinging the blanket aside, I saw that I still had my clothes on but was missing my socks and shoes. The room was overly lavish, with decor that looked really really expensive. There were heavy curtains drawn over the windows so I had no idea if it was light or dark outside. I scrambled out of the bed, but miscalculated the drop to the floor. "Oof!" The air woodshed out of my lungs at my impact on the wooden floor. I've been falling a lot lately. I should be used to the feeling of the air being knocked out of me by now.

I scrambled up on my bare feet, untangling myself. I made my way to the doors that hopefully exited this room. Wrenching the knob, the door opened easily and quietly. It opened to a dark hallway lit by little electric lights and candles on the wall. The windows on the other side showed that the sun had set. No one was in the hallway, and I had no idea which way to go. I went left and hoped that led me to a door out.

I wandered around for so long, I started to panic. There also wasn't anyone around anywhere! I'm too afraid to call out since there were eery shadows and the uber silence every where I went. Where the heck am I? It was too big of a place, and now I've completely got myself lost. I couldn't even retrace my steps. I was currently in a sitting room of sorts with gold and deep red wallpaper.

Arms suddenly shot out when I walked back out of the room, wrapping around me, pulling me sideways into something solid. I was about to scream when my body filled with warmth and peace. My knees went weak, making me slump. I knew who it was without any reason. "Gavril," I sighed.

"Yes, it is me, Little One," his voice whispered next to my right ear. Tears burst from my eyes again, making me a sobbing wreck. Gavril spun me around, letting my face bury in to his chest. "I'm so sorry. I wasn't thinking. I...didn't know that...even being just partially paranormal, you'll feel the withdrawal as much as I," he said, sounding so pained and sad. "I...I couldn't talk to you because I felt so...hollow. It was about to drive me insane. Just hearing your voice...I didn't want to hurt you from my feelings of...I'm so sorry," he muttered, burying his face into my hair. I could only wrap my arms around his waist, holding him tightly like I didn't want him to go anywhere. Like, I was afraid of him going anywhere without me. He held me tightly, rubbing his hand up and down my back. "I-I'm sorry for c-c-crying like this. I just...I haven't been myself. I keep c-crying at j-just the slightest thing. I d-don't know how to control this. It makes me so...s-so scared because this isn't me!"

"That's my fault. Life Mates suffer withdrawal when separated for long periods of time. I just didn't think you would be impacted so much being physically more human than paranormal...I am so sorry, baby," Gavril repeated his apology over and over. "I won't ever leave you alone like this again. Please forgive me."

"It's not your f-fault. I-I didn't know. You didn't know."

"Mother called and said you were...crying. Has this been happening?" he looked down at me, concerned. I couldn't even tell a white lie. I nodded my head. He sighed and wrapped me in his arms again. "You shouldn't hold anything back with me. If you feel sad, happy, angry, bored, or zapping someone-even me, you must tell me. I worry about you since you rarely told me how you felt during our chats," he said.

"I'm not good at...telling people my problems," I replied honestly, "I didn't even know. I thought I was just pissed at you and was in a bad mood because of stress."

"Then I'll learn how to read you to the point I would automatically know when your emotions change." I had to smile. It sounded really ominous. It's not ominous. If you can't voice it, then I'll find other ways. Your comfort is something I take seriously. I don't like seeing you feel so sad. As my Life Mate, I would like to see you happy.

"You felt this way?" I asked hesitantly. His eyes were so soft, the silver looked like liquid silver. "As soon as I had to leave, I was already suffering from withdrawal, Little One. I didn't want to worry you or scare you of this bond," he replied without any hesitation. I didn't like him feeling such a way now that I knew. "How about this. I won't let either of us get to this point again if we are required to stay separated for a period of time," Gavril said, reading my thoughts.

"Same for me too," I replied. He gave me a squeeze before letting go to grab my hand. He flipped my hand to show my inner wrist. He runs his fingers across the tiny X's that now have grown to larger ones, silver in color and now curving into some other design. He flipped one of his hands palm up to show me that he too, had the design. "Did you tell my Mother or your's about the mark?" I blushed and shook my head. A grin spread across his face, making his dimples appear. "Me either," he whispered like it was a very very important secret. I giggled and smiled up to him. "Come, I believe you're hungry since you've slept through dinner. Your Mother's back at her home to finish some jobs my Father requested. My Mother had you brought to a guest bedroom, though somehow, you've managed to end up in the parlor of visiting dignitaries," he smirked. I shrugged. This place was way too big. "Sandri said that she always gets lost in here. I can really understand why," I smiled. Being so close to Gavril, my mind is now feeling like it's not lopsided anymore. I was also feeling much better. And speaking of better. I pinched him in the arm, making him wince. "What's that for?" he asked, rubbing the spot.

"I know why you call me Little One now, hmph," I sniffed. He grinned and wrapped his arm around my waist. "Well...at least we know where each of us stands," he chuckled. I gaped at him as he took off. I narrowed my eyes and... ZAP!
