Qixi felt a strange and indescribable shift in her emotions. To distract herself from this overwhelming reaction, she lowered her head and decided to change the topic, expressing her sincere gratitude. "Gu Yan, thank you."

"No need to thank me," Gu Yan replied, feeling a bit uneasy. He kept his response concise, saying, "I'm just glad you're okay."

"I owe you a lot," Qixi expressed her gratitude once again. "Now that I'm fine, why don't you go back and finish getting your hair done?"

Gu Yan nodded and turned to leave.

Zhao Yiran came over and hugged Qixi again. "You scared me, sis. Thankfully, you're okay. But we might have to find a new place to live. That thug knows this address, and if he comes out and seeks revenge, it could be dangerous. I'll start looking for a new place, but it might take some time since finding rentals these days is a bit challenging. In the meantime, we'll have to stay somewhere else for a few days. I have a relative nearby, and I'll talk to them to see if we can temporarily stay at their place. What about you? You're a local resident. Do you want to go back home?"

As soon as going back home was mentioned, Qixi frowned. Her attitude was firm. "I'm not going back home. I moved out to show my dad that I can be self-reliant. I don't want him to give me money. I can support myself by working. If I go back now, he'll see it as me crawling back to him, begging for forgiveness. He'll think he can control my life again and start arranging blind dates for me."

Zhao Yiran expressed concern. "Then where will you live?"

Qixi, still feeling dazed after the recent incident, wasn't focused on such matters. She absentmindedly replied, "I'll ask the other female classmates later to see if anyone can accommodate me."

Before Qixi could start typing on her phone to ask a few university classmates who had good relationships with her, Gu Yan, who was about to leave by the door, called out to her.

"Don't bother asking," he said.

Curiously, Qixi looked up at Gu Yan and asked, "Why not?"

"My sister has a spare room," Gu Yan cleared his throat and said naturally, "She lives alone and is often away on business. She rarely stays at her place, so she's been thinking of finding someone to help take care of the house, receive packages, and do some light cleaning. If you don't mind, you can stay there temporarily until you and Zhao Yiran find a new place. It's just a short-term transitional period, so she won't charge you rent."

Gu Yan pursed his lips. "After all, my sister isn't short on money."

After confirming that Gu Xuehan didn't mind and was indeed looking for someone to manage and clean the vacant house, Qixi gratefully said, "Then I'll call Lawyer Gu to confirm and express my thanks..."

But before she could finish her sentence, Gu Yan interrupted her. "No need. I'll call her."

With that, Gu Yan took out his phone and dialed a number. He walked a bit farther away to have the conversation, so Qixi couldn't hear what Gu Xuehan was saying on the other end. She could only hear Gu Yan's side of the conversation.

Almost as soon as Gu Yan answered the call, he began speaking, "Hey, sis. Aren't you often away on business and not staying at the house on Chenping Road? And you were just thinking of finding someone to temporarily stay and take care of that house, right? Well, Qixi has some things going on and needs a place to stay temporarily. I'll have her stay at your place tonight. You don't have to rush back for the deliveries. It's fine, just find a hotel to stay for the night. That's it, bye."

Qixi was surprised that Gu Yan could speak such a long string of words. With his speed, he didn't even give Gu Xuehan a chance to speak. But he did sound like he didn't allow her to interrupt.
