We both know right now i am not me,
And you are not you.
These situations where we fight,
Why is it us two?
These things make no sense;
They don't change anything.
I see so much happiness our lives could bring.
If only things could get better.
Yet, we are both too prideful to change,
Stuck in our same habits and ways.
Even if we tried there'd be no difference.
You can't ask a cow to stop eating grass.
These are just bad habits.
Ones we made, and they changed us.
Ones we can't fix, they detain us.
We bite our nails, while writing these pages.
Sitting down at dinner, like strangers.
But, knowing there is an effort made,
That does help.
I can't get mad at you for trying to be someone else for me.
But why not instead of fighting,
We just tried to talk things out.
Where we talk about the present not the past,
And hash it out.
All the things I'm doing wrong that hurt you.
I'll tell you all the lies between the truth,
That I've said to you.
And if not even for that,
Maybe just some closure.
Let us both choose if we want to quit,
Or start over.
If it's worth it.
