Grayson

Everything was silent when we got back to the house. Nobody really said anything. Iris went straight up to her room.

Selena put the kids to bed and we all were in the living room. Nobody spoke at first, it was just silent.

I looked at Elijah, he wasn't focused. He was worrying about her. Much as I wanted to go up there we couldn't.

"Did you know Adam?" Selena whispers.

"That her real name was Iris? Yeah, I knew about that. I didn't know about the rest," he says.

"This honestly what happens when you let any girl into your bed Adam. A drug addict. I wasn't going to say anything at first, but can't you expect more from people like her," Dad commented.

"People like her?" I repeat.

"Daddy, don't go to that length," Selena says.

"I'm speaking truth. The girl was a drug addict, her father is dead, she said her mother was in real estate just to find out she is just like any other hoodlum street rat," he insulted.

"Alan, watch the way you speak," Mom warns.

"Dad, really what if she was listening," Kevin mentions.

We were all shocked that just came out his mouth. Adam wasn't saying and it making me more mad. He wasn't going to even defend.

It's like all my brain cells seemed to disintegrate in a second. I grabbed the bastard by his shirt and my fist came in contact with his face. I got three more punches before I was pulled off him.

"Watch what you fucking say her about her. You have no right to judge or even stereotype her. She has been the opposite of what that girl talked about. She hasn't disrespected a single person here, she hasn't said anything wrong. Mom and Selena didn't hesitate to spend time with her, because she's a good person. You just go and judge her off a few words from some girl in a restaurant? That's a bit fickle don't you think," I shouted.

I was breathing heavily and I just wanted to punch him one more time. Fuck. I let my anger get the best of me.

"Adam chose to bring her here, because he likes and you just openly disrespect her just because a few things you heard."

"Grayson, you need to calm down," Kevin says.

"I'm calm."

"Gray, let's go," Elijah says.

"Elijah, I'm fine."

"It's not a choice Grayson, let's fucking go. You need calm down."

He stands there waiting for me to move. I look at everyone else in the room. Micheal was checking on dad.

I took a deep breath and walked towards the front door and Elijah followed. I opened the door and he closes it behind him.

I walk down out the gate and down the road. Elijah walks next to me.

"What do you think?"

"I don't know. She never told us any of this because she wants forget. Maybe she would have told us in her own time," I shrug.

"I don't think so. She's always lying for a reason think about it. She doesn't tell us if she's with a different guy, she uses it as a defence. I have noticed that she slowly regresses as well," he mentions.

"Speaking of it, I can see it. She gets quite defensive or doesn't say much. Although if she does regress, I don't know. I don't think I can handle it."

"I don't think she will regress that far, but more back to around the time where she lost her father," he says.

"We are going to have to wait and see then. I still can't believe she was a drug addict. Was it that bad, that she used drugs to get away?"
