I didn't notice that I remained spacing out inside my car kahit na wala na si Den at Bernard sa harapan ko. A ring from my phone brought me back to reality.
Ly: Hello?
Greg: Dr. Park, where are you? I'm going to introduce Dr. De Leon to all of the ER staff. Lalo na sa mga bago.
Ly: Yes Greg. I'm here in the parking lot. Susunod na ako...
I ended the call then got out of my car. Before, whenever I walk inside the ER, ang saya ko kasi makikita ko si Den. Ngayon, ang bigat ng bawat hakbang ko, knowing that starting today, I must learn to forget everything and be happy for them. Papalapit na ako sa office kung sa'n sila nagtipon lahat ng nakuha ng atensyon ko ang babaeng anak ng pasyente kagabi na tumatakbo palapit sa'kin.
"Doc! Doc! Bilisan niyo po!"
She frantically grabbed my arm, trying to lead me to her father's room.
Ly: Anong problema?!
"B-Bigla bigla na lang po nahihirapang makahinga si Daddy!"
Pagkarating namin sa room ng pasyente, I immediatley checked his breathing. He's lying unconscious but he's having a difficulty of breathing. Agag kong kinuha yung oxygen mask sa tabi. Habang inaayos ko, the girl kept on crying as she kept on begging me to save her father.
"Doc! Bilisan niyo po! Please! Save my father! Iligtas niyo po siya!"
I got my phone from my pocket and dialed Greg's number.
Greg: Dr. Park? Where are you? Kanina ka pa na—-
Ly: Doc! Emergency! Room 32! Now!
After a few minutes, boss arrived with Dr. De Leon and some interns. We immediately rushed the patient to the Operating Room. After some hours, lumabas kami para kausapin ang asawa ng pasyente. Outside the OR, may dumating na rin na ibang family members. Sinalubong agad kami ng asawa ng pasyente na halatang wala ng tulog ng ilang araw.
"Doc? Kamusta po ang asawa ko? Okey lang po siya diba?"
She looked at us with hopes of good news.
Ly: The surgery was successful. He will be undergoing his second surgery next.
Para siyang nabunutan ng tinik sa lalamunan niya pero agad rin itong nabawi ng magsalita si Bernard.
Bern: But he is already critical. Mas magandang ihanda niyo na po ang mga sarili niyo sa mga pong pwedeng mangyari.
Muntik na siyang mahimatay sa sinabi ni Bernard pero inalalayan siya agad ng mga kasama niya. We were about to go back inside when suddenly, I felt someone grab my arm. Lumingon ako at nakita ko ang anak ng pasyente. Her eyes are already swollen from crying too much. She looks like she aged a lot and that she hasn't been having any proper sleep.
