Dakota Part 2

Jamie strides to me and puts his hands on my waist and picks me up twirling me around.
I place my arms around his neck
This is where I'm meant to be

He puts me down and places his hands on my cheeks and I put my hands over his.
"You're here" he says

"I'm sorry about your dad"

He closes his eyes and when he opens them there is pain within them.
"It's been hard this past month. But you're here now and I can't believe it."

I turn back to look at Jamie's dad then at the chair next to him and sit down. I look at my hands because I'm so god daamn nervous.
"Wow she's a nasty little thing"

I yelp out loud and put my hands on my chest

"Oh sorry I didn't mean to frighten you."

"Oh my gosh, no I'm sorry I screamed, you were sleeping and-uhhhh I'm sorry sir, I didn't mean to wake you"

He chuckles softly "I'm okay, and no I wasn't sleeping and call me Jim"

"Yes sir.... I mean Jim sorry" I bite my lip and fidget with my blouse

"I just don't want to have the doctors come at me and start checking me with machines and all that gibberish"

"Amelia would you be a dear and call the nurse for me and tell her I'm awake. My call button doesn't work"
