Hey guys! Just a reminder to check out the music I've put on the side! I think it really adds to the story. Thanks for reading! -Lauren

Rushing into the back entrence of the restaurant, I grabbed an apron and turned the corner in the kitchen to find Sam.

"Sorry I'm late! I had a crazy afternoon with Brendon at the grocery store."

"You're fine. We aren't crowded tonight anyways." Sam was my age, she went to the same high school that I had gone to before I started home school. Her parents owned this Chinese restaurant that I'd been working in for the past year and a half.

I peeked through the door into the dining area. There really wasn't a crowd tonight. This place was usually packed.

"Yeah, my dad closed off the place for the evening. Some special band is coming tonight and they wanted some privacy. You know my dad, always trying to push publicity. Apparently they're pretty popular, the band?"

"What's it called?"

"Not sure. They're European."

"Makes sense."

I calmed down knowing that I wasn't late for my shift, meaning I wasn't in trouble. Sam's parents had always been so nice to me. Her mom took pity on me when I got pregnant with Brendon. That's when I got hired. Her parents were over all pretty cool people. Her dad was very comedic, while her mom was a stereotypical Tiger mother.

"Oh Eva! Nice to see you. How's the baby?"

"He's doing great, but I think he might be getting a cold. I'm taking him to the doctor later this week."

Mrs. Lee was a second mom to me.

"Good, good. Did Sam tell you about our visitors tonight? So exciting!"

"Totally! Something to tell my mom when I get home."

After I dropped out of public school, I lost a lot of my friends. I could count my close friends on one hand, maybe.

"They're here!" Mrs. Lee screeched from the dining hall. The familiar bell rang as the front entrence opened and the rustling of feet and laughter filled the front of the restaurant.

"You're waiting on them tonight," Sam eyed me.

"What! What if I drop something on them, or humiliate myself in some form or another?"

"It earns the paycheck," she joked, turning back to the kitchen.

I took a deep breath and grabbed my notepad. A group of five boys sat at a table.

"Woohoo! The waitress is here!" A brunnette boy called out. Lovely, I was just a waitress. They were all really young. My age or slightly older. As I grew closer to them, I couldn't help but start to recognize their familiar faces. It was the boys from the grocery store. There sat Harry with his back to me, not noticing my existence.

"Hey guys, can I start y'all off with something to drink?"

"Do you sell pints?" Two of the boys asked. A blonde one and the same brunnette boy from before.

"Depends on if you have an ID?" They looked down dissapointed but I couldn't help but snicker under my breath. I dashed my eyes over to Harry, who focused intentlyvon the menu.

"Excuse me? Would you like something to drink?"

"Water would be fine," He looked up from the menu and smiled, pointing to me, "Hey! It's you! From the grocery store. Eva, right?"
