In the future where teleportation is a normal part of life, Ambrose Aldrin, a retired space explorer and physicist, spends his days as a history lecturer at a local college. When he isn't teaching, however, he's holed up all alone in his basement tinkering with ancient machinery. A hobby of Ambrose is to make unauthorized teleportation devices for his own personal use, and he is always trying to streamline the science behind these inventions. One day, however, he buys some metal from a scrapper he never met before. The scrapper claims the metal sheets are from a space shuttle from centuries ago when space travel was in its primitive era, but not just any space shuttle-the legendary Challenger 2.0. This space shuttle's predecessor exploded before breaching the atmosphere, but the second shuttle nearly a century later went much further. In fact, it went so far into space that humans lost contact. Legend has it that the Challenger 2.0 went through a wormhole... Excited to be using supposedly legendary pieces in his lab, Ambrose attaches a piece of the metal onto his newest handheld teleporter. Standing in the empty center of his basement to test his latest invention, he presses the button that should simply teleport him upstairs. So, when he opens his eyes after the initial flash of light, why is he looking over the edge of a cliff?! While learning the ways of his new machine, Ambrose makes time travel his new hobby and is determined to keep it a secret from the rest of the world. By swearing himself to secrecy, he also inadvertently sentences himself to a life of loneliness. While this has never been a problem before, a woman of the past, Perennia Morando, makes this much more difficult. Follow Ambrose Aldrin on his journey through time as he learns to understand time travel, world history, and love with his new companion Perenna Morando.
