General POV: it's been a few months ha since the season finale and we last saw our firefighters a lot of things had changed like for one Emily foster went back to med school and doesn't work at the firehouse m. Another thing that has change is the whole world is dealing with COVID 19 and the firefighters are trying to work their job with making sure everyone is healthy. The season premier starts off with the chief talking to the new paramedic
CB= the most amazing important word to firehouse 51 is community this is a neighborhood house when this community calls we respond when it raise it hand we pull it to it's feet so it's isn't good enough just to show up to this house on time punch in and punch out at the end of your shift I expect you to become a part of the lifeblood of this community cause we as a family
CZ= ( runs in out of breath) am I late oh damn it, I hit a pothole on west Harrison and I blew a tire I got it changed but then I had to park like two blocks back down on Rocine
K= what were you saying chief about showing up on time chief
CB= mm-hmm
CZ= I'm so sorry I'm so sorry
GM= it's okay
CZ= chief you meet Gianna , Gianna this is the chief I uh I was supposed
GM= is joe's tiredness gonna affect your perception of me because you know I would yeah I would definitely deny knowing him
MC= too late cruz already told us you grew up on the same block
GM= damn
SB= it's best we found out your association with this scoundrel before we were in too deep
GM= ( laughs) guilty but just so you know the whole neighborhood was well aware of the cruz brothers you know the words " stay away " on every mother's lips
CZ= ( slaps her on the arm) hey excuse me
CB= Gianna Mackey looks like you're gonna fit right in welcome to ambulance 61
SB= thanks chief
CB= dismissed ( everyone leaves the chief office)
CZ= I cannot believe that I was late to introduce you on your first day
GM= you can make it up to me by giving me a full tour
CZ= right this way ( they leave)
SB= she seems cool huh
MC= yeah she is one lucky medic to have you as a partner

SB= how is foster doing at northwestern
SB= loving it there's no remote leading when you are in med school during a pandemic of course it's Emily so she's volunteering in the COVID ward on top of all that
MC= sounds like her
K= when are they gonna allow more civilian staff in here
MC= I heard the CFD isn't letting anyone back out of " an abundance of cations0
K= the same thing with Stella's program
SB= girls on fire I loved it
K= yeah she's trying to get it started again but it's like pulling teeth
Stella's POV: the last few months has been crazy the only good thing that has happen is mine and Kelly's relationship we have gone stronger and he is making me fall completely in love with him each and every day. The bad part of the last few months is COVID has became a pandemic and everything has shit down like my girls on fire program right now I am meeting with a the public relation guy to see what he can do to help me get this program up and running again
S= this is what I'm saying I started girl on fire to show young women in Chicago women who have been hurting this year by the way that they have an opportunity they've probably never thought and it was working
OH= this is about public health during a pandemic
S= we will keep it small we will mask up we will stay outside just please just please think about the girls
OH= okay okay I'll run it up the flag pole

CZ= uh hey everyone Um I would like you all to meet Gianna Mackey I have known her all of her life and she is now gonna be working with Brett On 61
S= so you grew up around cruz
GM= oh yeah yeah I was just a few years behind his younger brother Leon
S= girl you are gonna have to tell us some stories
CZ= uh-uh no that is not gonna happen
After Gianna leaves for her call I start try to come up with ways to get the higher up to let me have my program back. I decide to head to Kelly's office to vent to him and see if he has an idea to get it off the ground again
S= I want to grab these pencils pushers by their throats as make them actually push their pencils I mean why is this taking so long
K= girls on fire
S= girls on ice is more like it I mean look I talk to the community relation guy that told him everything will be done outside, all the girls will be mask up, no one is gonna get within six feet of each other you know they're worried about liability, I'm worried about these girls losing a year of their lives
HC= I heard about Saturday count me out they can't make us come in
K= hey you'll be there
HC= fine
S= I'm going to break through on this if it's the last thing I do
K= ( pulls Stella on his lap) do you know how proud I am of you
S= tell me again ( kiss) thank you
I hang out with Kelly in his office for a while until someone comes and get me to tell me the chief is looking for me so I go to his office and see what he wants and when i get to his office he isn't in there so I turn around and he is right there
S= oh good you wanted to see me chief
CB= yeah sorry distracted Um I've received word form CFD brass
S= uh-oh
CB= the opposite actually you can resume girls on fire as long as you keep it outdoors limited it to ten girls at a time
S= oh my god oh that's so great thank you finally
CB= you know I've been trying to get more than one civilian in this bullpen for over six months nothing denied denied denied how'd you do it how'd you pull that off
S= persistence chief
CB= yeah you got that don't you
S= oh ask sevride when he doesn't want to watch the bachelor with me he seen every episode
CB= okay
S= okay I got some calls to make thank you
CB= your welcome
I start making some calls now that my program is finally back off the ground next morning I take a morning shower for the day at home
S= did you know Casey isn't in his room
K= so
S= well when he left yesterday he said he was going to Brett' s meaning that Casey probably slept there maybe ( Casey walks in)
MC= morning, what she thought she was broken into I was keeping watch
S= is she okay
MC= yeah she's all good I'm going to bed don't wake me until lunch
S= I wasn't totally wrong
K= you wouldn't admit it if you were
S= well someone around here should get some action, do you want to see what's under my towel
K= definitely
We run off to our bedroom so that Kelly can see what is under my towel. The next day in shift the whole house got called to a photo factory, truck 81 went one way while squad three went the other way working five minutes I saw two people going the wrong way so I went after them and then tunings turn bad I saw Kelly and he got trapped one Gallo and mouch help get the victims out I went and find Kelly at first I couldn't find a way to save Kelly but I was determined to find a way. One I did I broke through a wall and when to save him
K= what took you so long
One I got him untapped we found one more victim and then went outside. Once we were outside he said thanks for saving him. After we clean up the place we head back to the firehouse. Once I clean my self up I heard the chief was look bad for me so I headed to his office
S= you're looking for me chief
CB= yeah I heard about your ingenuity in the fire
S= I just uh just reacted
CB= really sevride said you save his beacon
S= he did
CB= ( walks over toward her and points to a picture near by) look right here that's Kenyon, porter, penthybridge, Hawkins, Johnson, Paine, Adams, Reed, and Watkins. Engine 21 Chicago's first all black company of firefighters
1872 they had the eyes of the whole city on em looking for any reason to shut em down. So they made it their mission to be the first engine at any fire and they were. Brave, fearless, strong firefighter who made history and they are not forgotten. Reason I'm telling you all this there are not enough women or people of color in leadership positions inside of the CFD so when the lieutenant test is offered in a few months I want you to take it
S= do you think I'm ready
CB= Stella Kidd you are courageous, intelligent Fierce and Honorable that is the very definition of a leader it's time everyone got to see it
S= okay
I can't believe what the chief just ask me to do but he thinks I will be a great leader one day. I leave his office one I do that I head to Kelly's office to tell him the news and see what he thinks
S= what's that
K= new life detector listening systems we test it for the CFD this weekend. We could've used it today picked up heartbeats in zero visibility what's going on
S= ( shuts the door) uh Boden wants me to take the Lieutenant test
K= that's great what do you got a few months
S= yeah it's just uh you know down the road for sure I though this is something I would do but now that there is a date actually circle on a calendar somewhere um I'm just not sure
K= two things, one you have plenty of time so you want to cram you'll be ready
S= well what's two
K= you have me unlimited help day or night 24/7
S= ( sits on his laps ) let me see this ( puts the device on his heart) this says you have a good heat ( they kiss)
I came believe I have Two men who care about me so much and see great potential in me to push me to be the greatest I can be. The man I love so much and the man that I think of a father figure. I can't wait to see what's my future is going to be.
Authors note : first off thank god the show is back and I love the new paramedic already. Next I love that Stella wouldn't give up getting her girls on fire program back. I love when she got it back and the chief asked her how she did it and she said just ask Kelly when he doesn't want to watch the bachelor. That means Kelly watched that show and it's kind of funny it means Kelly will do anything to make Stella happy. I live through our this episode Kelly was so supportive of Stella. I love in the fire Stella was so determined not to leave Kelly trapped and she rescued him. At the end of the episode we see that Boden see great potential in Stella and wants her to take the Lieutenant exam because she is going to be a great leader one day. I love when she told Kelly about the Lieutenant exam he told her that he will help her study and I love that he is definitely living up to his words he said in the season 7 finale about being the man Stella deserve.
