"How much longer do you need to keep doing it?" The voice that I had now discovered from someone named Riley.

"Like a few months. He gets paid every month and he's just saving it to pay me."

        "Good luck."

        "Thanks, I'll need it."

        20 minutes.

After a moment of silence, I assumed the two of the girls left the bathroom, so I unlocked the bathroom stall and pushed it open. But I was soon met with Fernanda and the other girl, flipping around to face me.

        "Oh, hey Dani!" Fernanda smiled.

But now she's acting like she wasn't just talking about me. Was she even talking about me? Maybe they were talking about someone else? But then again, who else in the school has a celebrity sister?

"Hey?" I said, making it sound more like a question.

"I never saw you in class today, where were you?"

I need to come up with an excuse. She doesn't have to know that I was hiding in the bathroom for half the school day, does she?

"I was in the principals office. I had to discuss something with him."

She nodded, twirling a piece of her dark hair with her finger.

        18 minutes.

There was now an awkward tension in the room, and I wasn't sure if I should continue to stand here or leave the bathroom.

"So, how's your sister?" Riley spoke, breaking the silence.

I narrowed my eyes at her at the mention of Demi.

"She's fine." Was all I replied with. But the look on Fernanda's face said otherwise.

"Honestly? She didn't seem fine when I left your house the other day. And what Wilmer did to her, I would think-"

"She's fine." I repeated, interrupting her.

"Kay," She said and grabbed onto Riley's arm, dragging her out of the bathroom.

        15 minutes.

Should I leave now? By the time I walk home, school would be over. I could just tell Mom that I got a ride home, because she'd obviously ask how I got home so fast. I usually get home twenty minutes after school is over when I walk, and when I have a ride it's usually five to ten minutes depending when I get out of the school. I'll just tell her I got a ride, she doesn't need to know I went out early. She doesn't need to know anything.

Stepping out of the bathroom, I make sure there's no one in the hallways. I cannot get caught. When there was absolutely nobody in the hallway, I made a run for it. But just as I was about to reach the front doors, I felt finger tips wrap around my forearm, making me flip around to look who it was.

"Ms. Lovato, where do you think you're going?" Mr. Holly, our vice-principal said.

"Home. My mom's here to pick me up." I tugged on my arm expecting the male to let go, but he didn't loosen his grip at all.

"We have a rule that you can't leave the school without your parents permission. One of your parents have to sign you out. Come to my office and we'll wait for her to show up, yeah?"

I rolled my eyes and crused under my breath, as Mr. Holly let go of my arm and walked toward his office, me trailing behind.

Once we reached his office, he sat down at his desk while I plopped down onto the couch in front of him.

The only sound in the room was the ticking of the clock, each second passing, a second closer to the end of the day.

I was trying to avoid eye contact by playing with my fingers.

"Oh!" The sound of Mr. Holly's voice, made my eyes quickly look up at my fingers to make eye contact with the older male.

"I just got informed that you missed three of your classes today. And now you're trying to leave the school without your parents consent. Something seems fishy about this. Is your mother actually coming? Do I have to give her a call?"

I never got a chance to reply, he was already dialing my mother's phone number.

"Hello. This is the vice-principal. I was calling about your daughter, Dani. She told me that you were here to pick her up. Is this true?"

There was talking on the other line, but I couldn't make out what she was saying.

He locked his eyes on me, and there wasn't a friendly look on his face. "Interesting."

I fell back into the chair with a sigh. I'm not looking forward to hearing a lecture from both my mom and the principal.

"Okay, thank you so much for your time." He smiled, slowly taking the phone away from his ear. "Bye." He hung up the phone and let out a sigh, running his hand down his face.

"Danielle, you're mother informed me that she wasn't picking you up."

        I didn't bother replying.

"You also missed three classes today, why?"

        I need to lie.

"I didn't. I was there, maybe the teachers didn't see me so they marked me absent. But I was there today."

"I'm pretty sure they'd figure out that you were there. You're in the classroom for an hour, they'd eventually see you. No excuses, Dani."

        "It's not a excuse! I was there."

"Do you have any proof that you were?"

He caught me. I didn't have an answer.

"You do know that I'm going to have to tell your parents about this, right?"

Of course I knew that, you shit.

"I'll email her and let her know."

He turned on his swirly chair and faced his computer screen, quickly typing on his keyboard. My eyes glanced up at the clock in the corner of the room.

        8 minutes.

        Eight more minutes.

Pull yourself together, Dani. You can survive eight minutes.

My cellphone vibrated against a piece of wood on the chair, which made Mr. Holly's fingers stop moving along the keyboard.

"No cellphones." He said harshly before continuing to race his fingers across the keys again.

I rolled my eyes again and pulled my phone out of my pocket.

        1 New Message: Dems

        You still doing okay? xx

I smiled at her message, but I never got a chance to reply because Mr. Holly quickly spung back around to face me.

"Email's sent. You'll be dismissed once the bell goes." He stood up from his chair and exited the room, leaving me alone by myself.

I reached for my phone again to see that I had another text message from Demi.

Just a quick reminder that you can always call me if you need something, babygirl.

I sighed. No I can't. She doesn't care. I'm just a burden. I'm just the annoying little sister. I'm an attention seeker. She's busy living her dream. I could be on the verge of death and it wouldn't be important.

I'm doing fine.... how are you doing though?

I responded, completely avoiding the other thing she told me.

        5 minutes.

This is going to be the longest five minutes of my life, I can feel it.

**

Mom and Dad gave me a lecture about me "skipping classes". And how if I miss school, then I can't learn, which then I can't get good grades and graduate, and I won't get anywhere in life. I'm usually never getting these talks. It was usually Demi skipping classes when she was younger, it was never me. My grades have been slipping serevely and I'm not sure why. I mean I do everything right, at least I think so.

"How was your day?" Demi's voice entered my ear through my phone speaker.

        Horrible, but it doesn't matter.

"It was fine. Just like a normal school day. How was yours?"

"I slept for most of it." She giggled and I could hear her smile.

"Well you're jetlagged, I don't blame you, I would too."

        She responded with another giggle.

"Wilmer texted me today..." She said. You could hear her mood drooping by the second.

"And? Did you text him back?"

        "...Yes."

        "Demi! Why? What happened?"

"I told him to never contact me again. I told him that I wish I never knew him."
