Unfortunately, Luca didn't manage to stop Vanya on his own in that universe. She ended up obliterating the entire world, just as Five predicted. He knew he could've gone with Five back in time, but he would've felt guilty if he didn't stay and at least try to help.
When Klaus returned with his family back in time, he realized what had happened. And he also realized they had left Luca behind. And it broke his heart. He wondered if maybe someday he'd see Luca again, but, for now, all he knew was that Luca's memory would haunt him and be with him for the rest of his life. It was so strange losing someone he couldn't talk to after they were gone. It made him truly hurt and mourn for Luca. He truly did love him.
