“What’s with the long face?” his mom asked when he stepped inside their home. She took notice of the tabloids he was holding “Nagbasa ka na naman?” she continued.
He sighed heavily and slumped himself on their couch, throwing the papers on the table in front of him. “Nagpapaapekto ka pa kasi anak. Ilang buwan na ang nakalipas, dapat masanay ka na” she said and sat beside him. He looked at her painfully not saying anything.
“Sarah said you should stop reading them… and she’s right”
Gerald shrugged and closed his eyes “How can I not read them mom? My face is plastered on the front page… ang hirap hindi pansinin” he sadly said. Reports about him being a “user”, a “nobody” and all sorts of harsh words continued to haunt him especially when what Sarah did in front of his work place came out.
“How can they judge me like they know me very well?”
“Your girlfriend is THE Sarah Geronimo… Superstar siya Ge. What do you expect?” She asked and tapped his shoulder “Makinig ka na lang kay Sarah and stop reading this garbage.” She said and took the papers and crumpled it.
Gerald stood up and kissed his mom’s cheek “You’re right mom” he said and went to his own room.
“How was the meeting?” her mom asked when she saw Sarah approaching.
“Busy daw po si Richard, so pina-move nila yung meeting” she answered coolly and sat beside her dad, her parents watching the news.
“Alam na ba ni Ge na nacancel movies mo?” her dad asked looking at her intently.
Sarah’s forehead creased and turned to face the TV “Hindi ko naman po kailangan sabihin sa kanya…”
Her parents stared at each other knowingly “Sige anak. Decisyon mo yan” her mom said and continued to focus on the news. Though it was hard for them to take that two of her movies were shelved because of what she did, they didn’t reprimand her for her actions… Not even once. They knew their daughter has a mind of her own, and has her own heart to follow.
“Besides… trabaho ko naman po yun. Labas siya dun” Sarah added and rested her head on her father’s shoulder “I just hope this wouldn’t get out. Siya na naman mapapasama kung sakali” she said which made her parents nod simultaneously.
“Hi babe” she greeted unenergetically when she answered her phone.
“Hello” he greeted back.
Both knew there was something wrong with the other.
“Is there something wrong?” she asked.
“Nah. Just things about work. You? Mukhang may problema?” he answered avoiding her queries.
“Wala. Pagod lang.” says she, trying to evade him asking more.
*silence
“Ge… oo nga pala. I’ll be given another few days off before I start taping for a movie” she said which made Gerald all boost up again.
Suddenly he was excited “Really? So… Makakasama ulit kita ng matagal tagal?”
Sarah laughed “Oo naman… Ano ba gusto mong gawin?”
“Kahit ano… Basta kasama ka”
Sarah giggled and didn’t say anything. “When would that be?” he asked lively.
“You’ll know :)”
Sarah was seated listening to her Ipad, humming along with the tune playing. She took this time to study the song she was about to sing while everyone else were busy with their own stuff.
“Gwapo kaya siya sa personal?” Anna asked but Sarah couldn’t hear her.
“Hui!” she said when she pulled off one earphone from Sarah’s ears “Baka dumating na yun…” she told her.
Sarah checked her watch “Ang aga pa po. Excited ka ate” she countered and placed the earphone back “Hindi ko makuha yung last stanza… Wag kang makulit” she said and went back to listen.
“I'm at a payphone trying to call home… All of my change I spent on you~~~” she sang, her eyes closed.
“Mamaya pa yun dadating dahil malamang nagpapagwapo masya…” Sarah irritatingly said while opening her eyes, someone just plugged her earphones off. She stopped speaking when what met her gaze was a handsome man leaning inches away from her face.
“Were you about to say ‘masyado’ Miss Sarah Geronimo?” he asked teasingly, not moving one bit. “So nagwagwapuhan ka sa akin?” he continued.
Sarah swallowed hard and kicked the floor as to make her chair move backwards. He laughed and stood up straight “Kanina pa kasi kita tinatawag… but you were too busy with your song. Totoo nga, you really do have an awesome voice” he praised and took one step forward “And you really do look beautiful Miss Sarah Geronimo”
Sarah looked around and saw people staring at them, Anna busy taking his picture. She then turned to him, but then looked down afterwards. She couldn’t look at his dazzling eyes along with his killer smile.
“It’s nice to finally meet THE Sarah Geronimo” he said and offered his hand at her.
Sarah held his hand for a shake, keeping her eyes down “Sarah na lang. Nice to meet you too Sir Richard Gutierrez.”
He chuckled “Chard na lang… o kaya naman… Baby”
Sarah instantly pulled out her hand and looked at him astounded.
“Okay… At least we know ang lakas ng chemistry niyo! Sa susunod na lang kayo mag-asaran ha?” Their director butted in. “Take your seats na… so we could start.” Direk Mae instructed.
“Ang yabang! Ang hangin! Anong BABY?! Gwapo nga, ang taas naman ng tingin sa sarili!” Sarah angrily thought to herself.
“Pot, nakikita mo ba?” Anna whispered and saw Sarah roll her eyes at Richard for the nth time when she caught him looking at her.
“Ahh… So nakikita mo nga” Anna said and giggled.
*knock *knock *knock
Gerald checked his watch “Ang aga pa ma!” He yelled and covered his head with a pillow.
*knock *knock *knock
Gerald groaned annoyed with the banging on the door, he twisted to his right… and then to his left. Finally, he stood up lazily, his eyes still half closed.
“Ang aga-aga pa nama…” he stopped speaking when he saw a beaming Sarah standing at his door.
“Good morni…” Sarah’s eyes widened when she saw something poking underneath Gerald’s boxers. Apparently, he normally sleeps with just those on. She quickly turned her back at him, her cheeks flushed.
Gerald looked down and saw his pride and joy giving Sarah its greetings. He instantly slammed the door leaving Sarah speechless.
After awhile…
“Sorry for that” he said when he saw Sarah standing near their dining table. Gerald already wearing his casual clothes at home.
Sarah smiled shyly “I cooked you breakfast” she said as her eyes travelled from his face down to his shorts. Gerald looked at where her eyes were on, and covered it with his hands. “tulog na si Junjun. Wag gisingin” he teased.
Sarah coughed hard, her cheeks turning red. He caught her looking at it… AGAIN!
Out of nowhere, his mom appeared holding a glass of water and gave it to Sarah “Iha… anong nangyari sayo?” she asked and turned to her son “Who’s Junjun?”
Gerald grinned and shook his head while looking at Sarah chugging down the water given to her. “Aso yun ni Sarah ma…” he lied.
Sarah placed the glass on the table.
“Oo nga pala… Mahilig ka sa aso. Yung Junjun, maliit din ba yun? Kasi gusto na rin namin ng aso dito sa bahay… kaso yung malaki yung gusto ni Ken”
Sarah almost choked remembering what she just saw earlier. “Ay… ano bang nagyayari sayo iha? May ubo ka ba?” says Gerald’s mom while soothing her back.
“Si Junjun?” Sarah asked softly. She shook her head trying to remove Gerald’s image on her mind.
“Well Sarah? Malaki daw ba si Junjun?” says Gerald who was already near Sarah, mocking her. He didn’t call Junjun his pride for nothing, he thought.
Sarah hesitantly nodded at his mom and directed a pointed look at Gerald for forcing her to answer.
“Naku! Maganda yan… sana magkaanak siya. Bigyan mo kami ha?”
Gerald burst in laughter while Sarah stood still.
“Ahh… sa susunod na lang natin pag-usapan. Maiwan ko na kayo ha.” His mom started to walk away.
“Tita, thank you po. At sorry po sa abala. Napagising tuloy kayo ng sobrang aga” Sarah said shyly while preventing herself from punching the hell out of Gerald.
“Ok lang yun! Ang sweet nga eh…” his mom said and waved her hand at them.
*pak!
“Aray!” Gerald exclaimed, his eyes tearing up with so much laughter. “Ok. I’ll stop na” he said meeting her glares. She hit him on his shoulder when sure his mom was already gone.
*mwah
Gerald stole a kiss on her lip when he saw how red her cheeks were. “You’re too cute baby girl” he said with a huge smile on his face.
Sarah smiled and pulled him towards the table “Kumain na nga tayo…” she demanded.
Gerald smiled from ear to ear when he saw what she cooked.
“Egg?” he asked and turned to her.
“Plus bacon! And spam!” she defended “Ngayon lang ako may pinagluto. Kung ayaw mo, eh di wag…”
Gerald chuckled and stared at her.
Her cheeks were red and her sweet innocent eyes couldn’t meet his… She was looking down while biting her lower lip.
“Akala ko pa naman magugustuhan…”
Gerald interrupted her by stealing another kiss on her lips. “It’s perfect” he whispered sincerely and guided her to a seat.
Gerald was just watching her while she places food on his plate. “I could wake up to this everyday” he whispered to himself.
“Wala kang work ngayon Sa?”
Sarah shook her head “told you you’ll know… my rest days start today” she said and took a sip of her coffee.
“What? Why didn’t you tell me? I could have asked for permission to have the week off” he whined. “I want to stay here with you” he continued.
Sarah stood up and went behind Gerald to give him a warm hug “Go take your shower babe…” she whispered “You’ll be late for work sige ka…” and she kissed his cheek.
She started to fix the plates on the table when Gerald gripped her wrist “Don’t. Leave it there” he demanded.
She pinched his nose “Ano ka ba… ok lang. Get ready for work. I’ll just wash the dishes” and she freed her hand from his grasp. Gerald couldn’t do anything but to admire her as she started to move towards the sink carrying the plates they used.
“I love you!” he yelled.
“I love you too!” she yelled back.
“Ang ingay! Kailangan nagsisigawan?” Ken interrupted the two which made Sarah giggle and Gerald messing up Ken’s hair. “Ulk! Kuya in love is disgusting!” Ken acted like throwing up. “What the hell did you see in him ate Sarah?” he added.
Ken raised his arm up ready to defend his face, waiting for his brothers’ punch at him, but it never happened. Gerald was just smiling looking at Sarah, while Sarah kept giggling looking at him back.
“Geez…” he sighed and moved away unnoticed.
“Ang gwapo naman ng boyfriend ko…” she said while fixing his collar, Gerald already dressed up ready to go to work.
He was just staring at her “So this is what it would be like when we get married?” he asked and placed both his hands around her waist
“I can’t wait to see you walk down the aisle... tell you I DO. I can’t wait to call you my wife”
Sarah gazed up at him and wrapped her arms around his neck.
“I can’t wait to shower you my love everyday of our lives together…” he continued
“And call you MINE for as long as we both shall live”
