We boarded a plane to Australia. It was exciting. I hadn't been there since I was in 5th grade. I moved back to America to be with my cousin then. But I didn't really have any memories of it. Only that I went to school throughout Pre-School to 5th grade. "It's exciting. I haven't been there for ages." I told Suni, as she boarded. She laughed, sitting in the seat next to me.
"Aww. Why do I have to sit with Nogla?" Craig complained.
"We've been best friends longer than I've known you Craig." Suni told him, sassily.
"I'm not THAT bad." Nogla said, setting his stuff in the cupboard above him. We all laughed.
"You're bad enough David." I told him. He shrugged, sitting down next to Craig. The plane took off after 5 minutes. But it wasn't at bad, we were in 1st class.
"Ooh. There's music on here now?" Suni asked, excitedly pointing at the selection.
"Let's see if our old covers are here." I joked, pressing on the pop music section. So, bad news, they wasn't on there. But good news our new song cover of God is a Woman by Ariana Grande...surprisingly. After a long hours, the plane finally landed and we unboarded.
"Ahhh nice to finally stand up!" Nogla said, stretching as he was off the plane.
"I can already smell the ocean." Craig said. Walking down the stairs. We all looked at him. "What?" He asked.
"The ocean is right there you dingus." I told him. Suni laughed and linked hands with him. David tried linking hands with me. "Nuh uh! I a not holding hands with you!" I told him.
He frowned."But Y/N. I'm lonely." He told me, giving me puppy dog eyes.
I shrugged. "That's fine. I am too." I told him, as we walked into the airport. We got our stuff and once outside, got into a cab. I looked out the window like an excited puppy. "It's so good to be back here." I whispered.
"Maybe Y/N will find the Australian of her life. For once." Suni said.
I laughed. "I don't think so, Suni. We're only here for visiting and some fun." I told her, looking back out the window. We pulled in front of a beach house. My aunts beach house. I grabbed my bags and gave the taxi driver some money. I ran out of he cab.
"Y/N L/N! Wait for us!" Craig yelled. His British voice echoed along side the beachy parts. I turned around, sticking my tongue out at him. I knocked on the doors.
"One second!" I heard my aunts voice ring. I right then, saw her through the glass doors. Her face turned into sudden surprise and she opened it and hugged me. "Oh my gosh it's so good to see you!" She said.
I laughed, hugging her back. "It's so good to see you too!" I said. She stopped hugging me and checked my face.
"Oh! I haven't seen you since you were 11 years old!" She said. She looked at my friends. "You must be Suni, Craig, and David! Kaya told me so much about you." My aunt said.
"Hopefully it's not bad..." I heard Craig say. I glared at him, hiding my laugh. He smiled to me. "I mean. Of COURSE it's not bad! Why would it ever be bad?" He said. My aunt laughed.
"I assure you. It's not bad. Now come inside. Before you die from the heat." She told us, pulling us inside. "Now. The rooms are upstairs, if you want to get unpacked up there.Y/N, check out your old room." My aunt suggested. We all nodded, going upstairs.
My old room was at the end of the hallway. I watched as the others went into their rooms and I looked at mine. I hadn't seen this place for years. I put my hand on the doorknob, twisting it lightly before pushing it open. I walked inside. The walls were a shade of Crystal blue and my large king sized bed was still inside. The sheets and blankets were still the same old aqua color as the used to be. The softened comfy pillows, light pink, dark pink, and white. Everything was still in place. My walk in closet, my bathroom. When I was on a call with my aunt she said she put brand new clothes in the walk in closet so I didn't have to pack. I smiled.
"Home sweet home." I told myself. I put my phone on the charger and walked around my room. I went over to my old desk. There were still books, pencils, pens. Makeup that looked newly bought. But my eyes drifted to a picture. A picture of me and 2 boys. One pale, the other a slight tanned. We were all hugging each other. I looked at it confused and picked it up. I turned it over to read,
Michael, Y/N, and Calum. 2005, Grade...
The grade had faded away. I did the math. If 2005 was 14 years ago...then we're were all about 9 years old and in 3rd grade. I nodded, proud of myself that I listened in Math. I looked at the picture longer. Where where those two boys? I still remembered them. Especially Calum. I thought about him everyday after that, we promised we'd always write and call each other...but one day he didn't send me another call, or a letter. Heck though, I even thought about him on the way here. Did he and Michael still live here anyways? A couple of questions but not through my head as I heard a doorbell ring from downstairs. Suni's head emerged from her room.
"Who the hell is that?" She asked.
I laughed. "I'm checking it out too. And guess who's going with me?" I asked.
She shook her head. "Not me. I'm too lazy." She told me. I grabbed her arm and dragged her downstairs. "You suck." She told me.
"And you swallow. I fired back.
"And you spit." She replied.
"You vomit in your throat which makes you choke on it and die." I told her. She looked completely scarred but we laughed after that. We made it down the stairs to see my Aunt hugging someone. Suni and I poked our heads down from the stairwell. "Who is it?" I asked her.
She looked at me. "I don't know. I can't fricken see." She told me. I leaned over her to see, but she lost grip on the railing and grabbed on to my arm so she didn't fall. That plan failed when it made me let go and we both fell to he floor next to each other, and in front of the door. My aunt looked down at us, dumbfounded.
"Hi." Suni said.
"How did you two both fall down the stairs?" (Aunt name) asked. We slowly looked at each other.
"I blame Craig." I told her.
"STOP BLAMING ME FOR EVERYTHING YOU DO WRONG WITH YOUR LIVES!!" Craig yelled from upstairs. Suni and I started laughing. I finally got a glimpse of who was at the door. I saw a woman about in her 50s as well as a man. But here was a dude in his early 20s there as well.
"We got an audience?" I asked Suni.
She nodded. "Hope they hot the good side of us." She said.
I smiled. "Hopefully." I told her. We laughed again.
"Get up you too. You'll catch ants. And are you two ok from the fall?" My Aunt asked us.
"No. We were just trying to give the floor a hug. It's lonely down here. And we wanted it to feel happy." I told her, getting up from the floor.
Suni got up as well. "I'm going to check on Craig." She told me.
I nodded. "Yeah. I guess I'll check up on Nogla. He's really weird." I said, staring to walk towards the staircase.
"Y/N . Get back over here and greet our guests." My aunt said.
I looked at her and shrugged. I walked back over and put my hand out. "Hi. I'm Y/N. But everyone pronounces it (name everyone Mis-pronounces instead of Y/N) so you can call me (Y/NN)." I told them. I shook their hands.
"I'm Karen, this is my husband Daryl." The woman said.
I smiled at her. "Nice to meet you Karen and Daryl." I looked at the early 20s boy. Book
"I'm Michael. Michael Clifford." He said, putting out a hand. I smiled, shaking it. Though he seemed awfully familiar. As if I had seen or heard his name before. I shrugged it off.
My Aunt let them inside and I closed the door. "What colors are Michael's eyes?" My aunt quizzed me.
"His eyes are Green wit a tad bit of blue. Pale skin, red lips, and blonde a bit long kind of emo hair. He's also wearing skinny jeans, a denim jacket, and a white shirt" I told her.
She smiled, nodding. "Good job." She said. She walked into the living room, to where the guests were. I followed.
I walked in to see the only spot open was the spot next to Michael. "May I sit here?" I asked in a polite manor. He nodded and I sat down. We had a lovely conversation until the front door burst open.
"Michael!" I heard a voice call out. We all looked the way to see 3 boys in their early 20s at the front door.
"So Ashton says that I act like I'm gay and Luke says that's a bad thing. I told Ashton about it and he said, it's a bad thing as well since Gay means I like guys. I obviously don't because you've seen my girlfriends! I'm not gay dude! Luke looks gay!" A dude with bleached blonde hair said.
"I am not gay! I have a girlfriend and I had another one before her! Just because my hair is slightly long, doesn't mean I like guys! Ashton's giggles could mean he's gay!" Another boy said.
"No I'm not! I've had WAY more girlfriends than both of you! My giggles are part of my personality. Mates don't make fun of my laughs. They are beautiful just the way the are!" A guy with red dyed hair said.
I looked at Michael to see his eyes widened. I also looked at Daryl and Karen to see them slightly confused. Michael looked speechless so I spoke for him. "Ok. Bleach blonde, you obviously aren't gay. I can see that and hear by your voice. Slightly long hair, you're not gay because if you do have a girlfriend and you had one before her as well, and see no interest in guys, that you aren't. And lastly Red Head, giggles ARE just giggles. Cute giggles, girly giggles, cracked giggles. It doesn't mean anything. Also I can tell you're not gay." I told him. "Happy now boys?" I asked. They all looked at each other.
"I mean. That was a good understanding!" The Red Head said, looking at me and smiling.
The other 2 shrugged and nodded. I smiled and looked back at the others. They looked as if they were tying to figure out what was going on.
"Hold on! Are you calling me gay again! I told you I'm not!" Nogla said, coming back in the room. We all looked at him. "Oh....Craig? Let's just....get a hotel! I'm kinda embarrassed!" Nogla yelled upstairs.
I laughed and looked back down to the others. "Have a good day to you all. I'll be up in my room if any of you need me." I told them, smiling as I left the living room. Halfway up the stairs was when I heard footsteps behind me. I look to see Bleach Blonde. "Mhm?" I asked.
"Would you go on a date with me?" He asked.
"I feel like I know you....." I told him. "You do. You know a lot about me, Y/N. It's me..Calum. Calum Hood. Your Kindergarten through 5th grade friend." Calum told me.
My eyes widened as I remembered the picture of the boy to the left of me, hugging me. I looked at Calum. He was really the only one of Michael and him I remember. I remember the last conversation we had.
(Flashback)
"Why do you have to go? Can't you stay here in Australia. With. Michael? With...me?" He asked.
I shook my head. "No...my aunt said I have to go back home to America. To where my mom lives." I told him as he leant in to hug me.
"Please don't stop sending letters to me. Don't stop having phone calls with me during day...ok?" He asked me, putting out his pinkie.
I nodded. "Okay Cal. I won't." I linked my pinkie with his and he smiled.
"Oh. And one more thing. If you ever return to Australia...when we get older... We go on a date." He said, his face red.
My face turned beet red. "Of-Of course Calum. I promise." I told him, unlinking our pinkies. " miss you." I told him, one more time before I ran off and into the car, leaving my best friend staring at the car slowly driving away from him.
(Flashback over)
My eyes darted right back to Calum. He looked me in the eyes. I started slowly going down the staircase I was on, he slowly came up. At the last second I quickly went down and hugged him, kissing his cheek. "I missed you so so much." I told him.
I heard a chuckle from him. "Come on. You probably didn't. I was probably lodged from your memory up until now." He said.
I pulled away from the hug. "No. No I didn't. I thought about you every day afterwards. And on on the way here I did. You're still lodged in there, Cal." I told him.
He smiled. "That's rather good to know." He told me.
"It was a promise." I told him, smiling.
He looked confused. "What promise?" He asked.
I laughed. "You'd take me out on a date. We're much older now. By 12 years. Do you think we could...?" I asked.
His eyes widened. "No! No of course we could. I was just confused on which promise. One was about writing and phone calls, another was about the date." He said.
I nodded, but became kind of confused. "Why...did you stop writing and calling?" I asked him. His eyes averted away. "Calum. You can tell me. I won't bite. Or yell." I told him.
He sighed. "I stopped because...by that point in time, you were talking about the people you met in America. This girl named Suni, a dude named Craig online, and a couple more people. A couple were boys and I got...jealous. You used to always hang out with me and Michael, then when you wrote and called talking about other boys...I thought you didn't like me as much as I thought you had. Heck. I obviously still do like you because when that one dude walked downstairs I got jealous. No scratch that. I obviously still to love you." He said, walking down the stairs a bit.
I followed after him. "Calum Thomas Hood. Explain to me one thing. If I didn't remind myself of you everyday, how would I still remember your middle name? Your eye color. Everyone calling you Asian, you HATING it because you weren't. I remember your old hair color before this one. One reason how I knew you weren't gay was because I had a feeling I had once known you inside and out. Calum, I still love you as well." I told him, putting a hand to his face.
"Why does this feel like a fanfiction. It's too good to be true." He told me, wrapping an arm around my waist and talking quietly.
"It's your date Calum. It's whatever you want it to be." I told him, laughing.
He smiled. "Great. Because I wanna make this a fanfiction in top searched Calum Hood." He told me, picking me up bridal style and walking towards the door.
"Where are you taking my niece?" I heard my aunt ask.
Calum laughed. "A date. She promised me 12 years ago." He called out.
"What?" Was all I heard my aunt say before she got cut off my the boys.
"YOU GO CALUM!!" I heard them yell from the house.
Calum and I laughed as he let me down. "And here is the part where I kiss the love of my life, finally ending the fanfiction." He told me.
I laughed before wrapping my arms around his neck."This'll be some fanfiction." I told him before leaning up to kiss him.
Little did they know...it secretly is...a fanfiction. bum...Bum...BUM!!!
