It had been a few days since the sports festival ended, and in those days were spent healing and recovery time. Today was the first day back to classes and you were riding the train along with Momo who was resting her head on your shoulder while it rained and as you were texting Midoriya when you heard a whisper.
"Excuse me...Excuse me!" The whisper said but you brushed it off thinking it was for someone else. "Y/N and Yaoyorozu from the hero class!" The whisper spoke loudly as other people looked at you with surprise.
"Uh ohh..." You thought.
"Good job at the festival! You were amazing!" Someone greeted you.
"Th-Thanks..." You replied nervously.
"You were first place, right?" Another asked.
"So cool!" Someone else said.
"He's cuter in person than on TV." A girl said as Momo's eyes shot open and steam blew out her nose as she clung to you so tight that you were being crushed.
"STAY AWAY FROM MY DARLING." She said in a scary manner to the girls as they shrieked and backed away as she went back to sleep on your lap.
"Do your best, hero!" Everyone on the train said happily.
"I-I will!" You said with a nervous smile.
Finally after reaching the train stop, you woke up Momo and carried her out of the train as she opened the umbrella she brought with her and you took off into the air while heading towards school. As you landed in front of the entrance and shook off the rain that got on you, you saw Iida walking to class and stopped him mid-way through getting your wet coat off.
"Iida-kun, I haven't seen you in a bit. You alright?" You asked as he smiled at you.
"I'm fine, Y/N-kun. We better hurry, class is about to begin." He said.
"Y-Yeah, and uhh, how's your-" You spoke but he cut you off.
"My family member is fine, you don't have to worry about it. I apologize for making you worry needlessly." He said.
"You don't have to apologize for nothing. That's what friends are for." You told him while patting his shoulder. "Alright, I'll see you in class." You said as you went back to Momo and began to fix yourself up for class.
As you and Momo entered class and sat at your seats, your room was filled with chatter about what it was like after the festival.
"It's different when they broadcast the matches on TV after all, huh? So many people talked to me on the way here!" Mina said excitedly.
"Yeah, me too!" Kirishima also said.
"People were also staring at me, too. It was kind of embarrassing!" Toru said while fidgeting where she stood.
"Isn't that normal for you, Hagakure?" Ojiro asked her.
"I had some elementary schoolers suddenly tell me "Don't worry about it." "Sero said embarrassingly.
"Don't worry about it!" Tsu teased him as he cried loudly.
"H-Hey! Tsu-chan! No need to b-be mean!" You laughed a little with Momo as she covered her mouth to stop laughing.
"After just one day we've suddenly been thrust into the spotlight, huh?" Kaminari said to other classmates.
"U.A. really is amazing, huh?" Mineta added.
As you all took your proper seats, the door opened and walked in Aizawa who no longer had bandages covering his body or cast around his arms.
"Morning." He greeted you all.
"Good morning!" You all replied as Ryu just sat silently.
"Ribbit? Mr. Aizawa, your bandages are gone. I'm glad." Tsu said to him.
"The old lady went overboard with her treatment. More importantly, we're having a special hero informatics class today." He informed everyone.
"Here it is!" Everyone thought.
"Special"? Is it a quiz? I hope not..." Kaminari thought in worry.
"I'm bad at laws relating to heroes and stuff like that..." Kirishima thought worryingly as well.
There was silence from Aizawa before he finally spoke up and everyone listened closely.
"Code names. You'll be coming up with hero names." He said plainly.
"We're gonna do something exciting!" Everyone cheered except for Ryu, Bakugo, and Todoroki, but Aizawa used his quirk briefly to scare everyone back into submission as you all sat quietly.
"This is related to the pro hero draft picks I mentioned the other day. The drafts begin in earnest in the second year and third years, after students have gained experience and become immediate assets to the pros. In other words, for them to extend offers to first years like you shows that they are interested in your future potential. These offers are often cancelled if that interest dies down by graduation." He said to everyone.
"Adults are so selfish!" Mineta said lowly as he banged his desk lightly in frustration.
"So we'll have to prove ourselves once we get picked, huh?" Toru asked Aizawa.
"That's right. And here are the totals for those with offers." He said as he pressed a button on a remote and a screen on the board showed how many offers each student got.
At the top of the offers were both you and Ryu, tying with the same amount, under you was Todoroki, then Bakugo, Tokoyami, Iida, Kaminari, Yaoyorozu, Kirishima, Uraraka, and Sero, a major drop off of offers after Todoroki.
"In other years, it's been more spread out but all eyes were on these two this year." Aizawa said referring to you and Ryu.
"Gah, there's such a big difference!" Kaminari complained.
"Those pros don't know a good thing when they see one!" Aoyama said.
"Y/N and Ryu are both first, and Todoroki is second...?" Jiro said in surprise.
"I'm surprised they weren't tied for first in the sports festival, it must be due to Y/N protecting everyone from his final attack when he went..." Kirishima trailed off as he grew a scared feeling knowing that Ryu was staring at him with a dark aura.
"Go on." He said menacingly as Kirishima zipped his mouth shut and looked away.
"You'd think people would too scared to ask someone who almost blew everyone up." Sero said, completely oblivious Ryu was here as he slammed his desk.
"SAY IT AGAIN TOILET PAPER HERO!" Ryu yelled as Sero begged for forgiveness.
"You're amazing, Y/N-kun." Momo said with a sad smile.
"Don't worry babe, you've got some great internships lined up I bet. I'm just lucky." You said as she kissed your cheek and held your hand.
"Wow, we got offers!" Uraraka said while shaking Iida back and forth in his chair.
"Yes, yes." He said while getting dizzy.
"Midoriya, you didn't get any! They're too scared of you 'cause of the crazy way you were fighting." Mineta said while shaking him as Midoriya sat in his chair slightly embarrassed.
"Yeah..." He muttered.
"Keeping these results in mind, whether or not anyone asked for you, you will all be participating in internships with pros." Aizawa mentioned as everyone was surprised.
"Internships?" Midoriya asked.
"Yeah. At the USJ, you already to got experience combat with real villains, but it will be the first meaningful training for you to see pros work at firsthand." He told them all.
"So that explains the hero names!" Sato said excitedly.
"Things are suddenly getting a lot more fun!" Uraraka said with a smile.
"Well, those hero names are still temporary, but if you're not serious about it..." He trailed off as the door opened.
"...you'll have hell to pay later!" A female voice yelled as a few of the guys suddenly got REALLY happy when they saw who walked in. "Because a lot of hero names used by students become recognized by society, and they end up becoming professional hero names!" Midnight said while looking seductive.
"Midnight!" The guys yelled in excitement as she walked up to the podium.
"Ohh, great. It's the gilf." Ryu thought while looking away from her.
"Well, that's how it is. So Midnight will be making sure your names are okay. I can't do stuff like that. When you give yourself a name, you get a more concrete image of what you want to be like in the future, and you can get closer to it. This is what it means when they say, "Names and natures do often agree." Like "All Might," for example." He said as he wrapped himself in a sleeping bag and went to sleep while whiteboards and markers were passed back and you handed one to Momo as everyone began to come up with names.
"So, what's yours going to be?" Momo asked as you stared at the ceiling.
"I don't know yet...What about you?" You asked her.
"Me either, I'm completely blank." She said embarrassed.
"Well, we got the whole period. We got time." You said as you and her began to think of names.
After some time passed, everyone had written a few things down on their board, and Midnight spoke up.
"Okay, let's start presenting names starting with those who are ready." Midnight announced as everyone was shocked.
"We're presenting these!?" Kirishima thought in shock.
"Man, that'll take some nerve..." Sero thought in worry while looking at everyone else as Aoyama took the podium.
"Here I go..." He said before showing his board and name. "Shining Hero: 'I can not stop twinkling'"! Which means, you can't stop my sparkles!" He announced loudly.
"It's a sentence!?" Everyone thought in shock.
"KILL HIM!" Ryu yelled loudly in anger as Aoyama was shocked by his comment and Midnight took his board.
"It'll be easier to use if you take out the "I" and shorten the "can not" to "can't." She said as she showed his reworked name saying 'can't stop twinkling.'
"You're right, mademmoiselle." He said with a confident smile.
"It's okay?" Everyone thought awkwardly.
"Anyway, choose one--English or French!" Sato advised him as he sat down and Mina ran up excitedly.
"Then, I'll go next!" She said before showing her board. "Hero name, "Alien Queen"!" She said confidently as Midnight cringed in thinking of another type of alien queen from a movie.
"--Two! Are you trying for the thing with acidic blood? I wouldn't if I were you!" She advised her anxiously.
"Dang it." She pouted on her way back to her seat.
"Idiot!" Your classmates all thought together. "Since the first ones were weird, it feels like we're supposed to make them funny now!" Midoriya and other students thought at the same time as Tsu rose her hand.
"Ribbit! Then, may I go next?" She asked.
"Go ahead, Tsu-chan." Midnight said happily as she went up. "I've had this in mind ever since I was in elementary school." She said as she showed her name. "Rainy Season Hero: Froppy." She announced.
"That's so cute! It seems friendly. I like it! It's a great example of a name that everyone will love!" Midnight said as everyone felt a huge weight lifted off their shoulders and chanted together.
"Froppy! Froppy! Froppy! Froppy!" They chanted. "Thanks. Froppy! You've brought things back to normal!" Everyone thought in relief.
Kirishima took the stand next with his board.
"Then, I'll go too! "Sturdy Hero: Red Riot"!" He said proudly.
"Red Riot"? You're paying homage to the Chivalrous Hero: Crimson Riot, right?" Midnight asked him.
"Yes. It's pretty old-fashioned, but the hero image I'm going for is Crimson himself." He told her as she smiled.
"If you're bearing a name you admire, it'll come with that much more pressure." She told him.
"I'm prepared for that!" He reassured her while clenching hist fist.
"Man, I haven't thought of a name yet..." Kaminari scolded himself as Jiro tapped him.
"Why don't I give you one? How about "Jamming-yay"? She told him.
"It's like Hemingway, who wrote A Farewell to Arms! Sounds smart! It's cool!" He approved as she snickered.
"No...It's because even though you're strong...you always end up like that." She said as she referred to him devolving into an idiot when he overuses his quirk.
"Hey, Jiro! Stop messing with me!" He yelled as she ran up with her board and showed everyone.
"Hering Hero: Earphone Jack." She announced.
"That's good! Next!" Midnight called.
"Tentacle Hero: Tentacole."Shoji said with a mouth speaking from his extra appendage.
"It's like tentacle with some octopus thrown in!" Midnight stated happily.
"Taping Hero: Cellophane." Sero said nervously.
"Nice and simple! That's important!" She said with a thumbs up.
"Martial Arts Hero: Tailman." Ojiro said calmly.
"Your name reflects your body!" Midnight cheered.
"Sweets Hero: Sugarman"! Sato said.
"So sweet!" Midnight hummed.
"Pinky!" Mina shouted loudly.
"Peachy pink complexion!" Midnight approved her.
"Stun Gun Hero: Chargebolt," combining "charge" with "lightning bolt"! Kaminari said next.
"Oh, I feel tingly!" Midnight squealed.
"Stealth Hero: Invisible Girl"! Toru said proudly.
"That's great!" Midnight cheered on. "Come on, let's keep going!
"I hope I will not bring shame to this name. "Everything Hero: Creati." Momo said.
"Creative!" Midnight said as Momo blushed seeing you give her a thumbs up and wink.
"Shoto." Todoroki said plainly.
"Your name? Is that okay?" Midnight asked.
"Yeah." He replied plainly.
"Jet Black Hero: Tsukuyomi." Tokoyami said.
"God of the night!" Midnight praised him.
"Fresh Pick Hero: Grape Juice"! Mineta said holding his board above the podium he was too short for as his orbs popped over it.
"Pop and kitschy!" Midnight said nicely.
Koda stayed silent and held up his board that said 'Petting Hero: Anima' on it.
"Okay, got it!"Midnight approved him.
"King Explosion Murder." Bakugo said as everyone stared at him.
"And this is why the lower class can't have nice things." Ryu insulted him.
"What'd you say!? Bastard!?" Bakugo yelled at him.
"You probably shouldn't use something like that." Midnight suggested.
"Why not?!" He yelled.
"You should be "Explosion Boy"! Kirishima suggested.
"Shut up, Weird hair!" He yelled at him next as he and Sero teased Bakugo.
"Okay, my turn..." Uraraka said as she walked up to the podium and showed her name. "This is what I thought of: "Uravity." She said slightly nervous.
"Sounds stylish!" Midnight complimented her as she sighed in relief. "Choosing a hero name is going more smoothly than I thought it would! All that's left is Bakugo, who needs to rethink his, and Iida. And Midoriya, right? No, and also Y/N and Ryu. Excuse me." She said as Iida walked up and showed his board that only read 'Tenya' on it. "Your using your first name, too?" She asked him as he nodded and returned to his seat. "Midoriya, are you ready?" She asked as she looked behind an angry Bakugo.
"Y-Yes!" He said as he got up and went to the podium.
When he showed his board, you and Ryu didn't think much of the name, but when everyone else looked at it, they were surprised.
"Midoriya?" Mineta asked.
"Are you really okay with that?" Kaminari asked in worry.
"You might be called that forever, you know." Kirishima said to him also in worry.
"What's got everyone so worried about his name choice?" You whispered to Momo.
"That name is what Bakugo used to tease and bully him back when they were little all the way up to now." She told you as you stared at Bakugo before Midoriya spoke up.
"Yeah. I didn't like this name until now. But someone changed the meaning of it, and that had a huge impact on me. It made me really happy." He smiled while reminiscing about the past. "This is my hero name!" He said as his board read 'Deku' on it.
You saw his eyes looking over in Uraraka's direction and when you saw the smile on her face, you knew she was connected to his choice.
"They'd look so cute together." You thought as Bakugo took the podium.
"Lord Explosion Muder"! He yelled while Midnight looked at him.
"No, that's still no good." She sighed.
"I wish you could explode right now!" Ryu yelled.
"Shut up! Bastard! I'll kill you!" He yelled in anger.
"Okay! Y/N! Ryu! Are you ready?" Midnight asked as Bakugo took his seat while gritting his teeth.
"Yes, ma'am." You said as you walked up to the podium with your board and showed it to everyone. "Warrior Hero: Super Saiyan." You said confidently.
"Oooo, I like~!!" Midnight said with a wink as Momo and a few other girls glared at her. "Ryu, you're next." She said as he took the stand and presented his board.
"I am Super Ryu." He said with a smirk.
"Approved~" She purred while getting closer to him.
"Stand aside, milf." He shot her down while returning to his seat.
After everyone was done choosing their hero names, Aizawa woke back up and stood back at the podium to address the class about what would happen next.
"Now that everyone's decided on their hero names, we'll go back to talking about the internships. They will last for a week. As for where you'll have them, those who had offers from pros will be given their own lists, so you can choose from those yourself. Those who didn't have offers will choose from among forty agencies around the country that will be accepting interns. They all have work in different places and have different specialties" Aizawa said while holding up a list for those who didn't get offers.
"For example. Thirteen would be focused on rescues from accidents and disasters more than fighting villains." Midnight said.
"Think carefully before you choose." Aizawa warned everyone.
"Yes, sir!" You all agreed as papers and list were all handed out to everyone.
"I want to fight crime in urban areas!" Kirishima said excitedly.
"I hope I can intern at a place with floods. I wonder if there are any?" Tsu said while looking at her list.
"Turn in your choices before the weekend." Aizawa said while walking out with Midnight as everyone was shocked.
"We've only got two days!?" Kirishima asked.
"Make your decision efficiently. Dismissed." He said while closing the door.
As he left, Ryu looked back at you from his seat while leaning back.
"Y/N, you already know right?" He asked as you nodded.
"Yeah, I got it too." You replied while writing down the agency you were going to on the paper.
"Huh? What are you guys talking about?" Kaminari asked.
"We both got offers from his father's agency. He was the top offer for our list." You said.
"You guys are gonna intern at the same agency? That's so cool!" Kaminari said.
"Well, if we didn't get the same agency then everything else would be a waste of time. My father thought this out thoroughly and made sure we both got his agency so we can stay at our best." Ryu said.
"Wait! You knew about the internships!? How!?" Sero asked in shock.
"When your father's a king, he gets what he wants, and what he wanted was all the information he could get." Ryu said while leaning back and going to sleep in his chair.
As lunch went by, you were all still in your class going over the list of agencies to choose which one to intern in.
"Hey guys, have you decided what pro agency you're going to yet?" Mina asked.
"I'm going to Mt. Lady!" Mineta said proudly.
"Mineta-chan, you're thinking about something perverted, aren't you?" Tsu asked while walking pass him and going towards you and Momo to hang out.
"Of course not!" He yelled in shock.
"Ashido, you made it pretty far in the tournament, too. It's weird that you didn't get any offers." Ojiro said to her.
"You said it." She replied in despair.
"Deku, have you decided already?" Uraraka asked.
You suddenly felt a wave or words hit your ear as you looked over to your right and saw Midoriya muttering insanity to himself which made you jaw-dropped.
"Wh-What the...?" You said in shock.
"It's practically an art!" Everyone else thought together.
"Ohh, sorry! I was lost in thought..." He said while shaking in his chair.
"You're really thinking carefully about this, huh?" Tsu asked.
"Actually, I've already decided!" Uraraka said excitedly.
"Really?" Mina asked.
"Where?" Ojiro wanted to know as well.
"Battle Hero: Gunhead's agency." She said with a smile.
"Ohh great, another beta male..." Ryu thought while rolling his eyes.
"Huh? Gunhead's a huge battle type! You're going there, Uraraka?" Midoriya asked in surprise.
"Yup! I got an offer from them!" She said while holding her fist out.
"Really? I thought you were trying to be a hero like Thirteen." Midoriya said.
"Yeah. you look way too innocent to be a fighter, although you were scary in the tournament..." You trailed off.
"Ultimately, yes. But fighting Bakugo at the sports festival made me think--The stronger I get, the more possibilities I'll have! If I only do what I want, I'll have a narrower perspective!" She said.
"I see." Midoriya said while looking at her.
"More importantly, this has been bothering me for a while, but...You're trembling, aren't you?" She brought up as you looked at him.
"Oh, this? It's the air chair exercise." He said calmly.
"HA!" You laughed while falling back in your chair.
"Y/N-KUN!" Momo yelled while checking on you.
"Air chair!? Don't tell me you do that through class?" Uraraka asked in shock.
"There's no way!" Mina said in disbelief.
"That's such an old-fashioned exercise." Mineta said.
"What are you saying? The isometric muscle contraction of the air chair means it's an easier way to train without moving!" Ojiro corrected him.
"Shut up!" Ryu said as he tried to go back to sleep.
As the day ended, everyone was packing up to leave. You were fixing Momo's things and waiting for her next to the restroom when you saw Iida leaving in a speed walk. Deciding to be a friend, you flew after him and stopped in front of him.
"Y/N-kun, what is it?" He asked in kind of a hurry.
"Hey, uhh, just saw you looked like you were in a rush. Wanted to know if everything was okay?" You asked.
"Yeah, I just really need to get home. Excuse me." He said while walking passed you.
"Wait a minute!" You said as you stopped him and gave him a slip of paper. "It's my number if you ever need to talk...Don't hesitate to call." You said as you let his shoulder go.
"Yeah, I won't." He said as you watched him run off.
"Y/N-kun." You heard behind you and saw Momo walk up to you. "What happened? You left me alone." She said.
"S-Sorry, I just had to ask Iida something. Come on, let's go home." You said as you held her hand and grabbed her umbrella before carrying her and flying into the sky.
"Is something bothering you?" She asked in worry.
"I'm just a little worried about Iida. He's been tense, I can feel it." You said.
"Well, he said that we shouldn't worry about it. Maybe butting into his family problem isn't a good thing?" She said to you.
"Maybe, but it's also what friends do. They worry about each other no matter what." You said as you landed in front of her house. "I'll text you later. Love you." You said as you gave her a kiss.
"Love you too." She said as she entered her house and you flew back home.
As the two days passed, you learned about what happened to Iida's family member when Midoriya told you that his brother was the victim of the incident that happened in Hosu City, where the hero 'Ingenium' was attacked by the escaped culprit, The Hero Killer, Villain Name: Stain, who was responsible for killing 17 heroes in the past, and wounding 23 others beyond recovery. You were worried when he also told you that Iida's internship would also be in Hosu City. As time wrapped up, you were all gathered at the train station as Aizawa was there to see you all off.
"You all have your costumes, right? Remember, you aren't allowed to wear them in public. Don't drop them or anything." He warned everyone.
"Yessir!" Mina said excitedly while holding her case.
"Speak clearly! It's "yes, sir," Ashido." Aizawa scolded her.
"Yes, sir..." She said with a sad pout.
"Make sure you mind your manners with the heroes at your internships! Off with you, now." Aizawa said.
"Yes, sir!" You all said as you, Ryu and Momo went to the same departure spot.
"My route passes by your stop, so I'll ride with you until then." You said.
"Such a gentleman." She smiled while hugging your arm and snuggling you.
As you looked around, you saw Iida talking with Uraraka and Midoriya before he left them to go to his departure spot. The face you saw on him was completely different, and as you boarded your train and sat with Momo to your side and Ryu in front of you who fell asleep, you stared at Iida through the window as your train took off.
"Iida-kun...Whatever you do...don't do it alone..."
