This was to cure my boredom and motivation. Highschool AU
It was the perfect day to start exploring new topics for Logan. He was always the one who was willing to learn and the only one actually ecstatic about it.
Patton would just be happy because... why wouldn't he? He's naturally like that and was always, excuse me, usually happy. Roman would only complain about it more.
Virgil... God, Logan just wanted to stare at Virgil all day. How he just looked so perfect with his dark eyeshadow and how he tried to be so angsty just attracted Logan more. Even though the amount of times he said he didn't care what the others thought amused him when he finds Virgil in the boy's bathroom, applying more eyeshadow when he thought no one was around.
Virgil was just a star that Logan was attracted to. He felt things that he had never felt before when he only hung around Patton and Roman. No, those were feelings he was quite familiar with. Annoyance, irritation. Sometimes happiness when they were discussing about a certain topic he loved to talk about.
"Logan! We've been trying to get your attention this past minute," Roman whined, waving a hand over his face. Logan blinked as he looked around the empty classroom, it seems that he may have dozed off the entire time.
"Apologies, Roman. I must've dozed off and thought of some other important things to discuss with the student council later," Logan said, lying in plain sight. It seemed that Roman and Patton bought it as they skipped away happily, like the obvious couple they were.
Ever since they got together, Logan felt himself grow distant from his colleagues (colleagues? Acquaintances seem to be a good word for it). It all started when Roman asked Patton out, obviously. They've been going out together so often that sometimes they'd forget that Logan was around.
Until Virgil showed up to their group. It was so sudden when they heard a new kid was entering the school. Patton, being Patton, obviously befriended him and added Virgil into the friend group.
Logan didn't mind it at first as Roman practically threw a tantrum as why 'Emo Nightmare' was around. It took a lot of convincing before he settled down on an uneasy agreement.
When they began dating, Logan didn't mind being ignored. But now, while Virgil is around, he felt a sense of peace whenever the other two left him and practically abandoned him for their own shenanigans because he had Virgil as his own company.
Logan sighed and shook his head. This was the third time that it had happened and he could feel his grades slip from his hands. He couldn't do such thing because of how strict his parents were.
He remembered the last time he got a 'low' grade and shivered at the thought and memory of how angry his parents were.
"What are you still doing, nerd?" Virgil said, walking up to him with his eyebrow raised. Logan felt a slightly familiar tug on his lips but fought against it. This has been happening only around Virgil and he was getting annoyed of it.
Stupid human errors called emotions.
"Salutations, Virgil. I was merely packing away for the day. Is there anything I can do to be of assistance?"
Virgil shook his head and shrugged. "It's not that I need help, I just... need company, your company. God, sorry. This is so awkward."
"Oh, it's quite alright. I don't mind... t-talking with you, that is."
Both of the teens blushed at that statement.
"S-So, what have you been up to lately?" Virgil asked awkwardly trying to spark up a conversation. Logan chuckled softly at the futile attempt.
"If you must know, the student council has a meeting in... five minutes. I must take my leave at this moment," Logan stated, gathering his belongings and slinging his bag sophisticatedly on his back.
"Wait!"
"What is it, Virgil? I'm in quite of a tight schedule at the moment," Logan asked, tapping his foot impatiently. Virgil seemed to be at a loss for words as he stammered and eventually, gave up.
"Well, if it isn't that much of importance, I'll be going now," Logan said, sprinting off while muttering a few curse words to himself for being late.
Virgil sighed and kicked the chair in frustration. "Stupid, stupid, stupid! I can't even ask him out!"
Patton and Roman popped up at the door as Virgil groaned and covered his face. They reluctantly walked up next to him and sighed, "You'll get him next time, kiddo."
Roman nodded. "Yes, and until then, we're helping you."
Virgil kicked the table once more, making Roman and Patton jump back in surprise. "N-No, it's not that! He just can't see how much I like him. He's so smart to the point he can't even understand how people feel!"
Patton placed a hand comfortingly on Virgil's shoulder. "Virge, you have to understand that he never did understand feelings in the first place. He would always come to me or Ro about these things."
Roman chuckled. "I remember when he asked me what happiness was when we were kids."
"And sadness, don't forget that, Roman!"
"Then there's grief..."
"Love-"
Virgil shot up and pointed at Patton. "Y-You said love? He asked what love felt like?!"
Patton stood up shakily and answered, "I mean, yeah. He told me it was for research and the best source was from someone who is currently experiencing it..."
"When did he ask that question?!"
"A few... oh my..." Patton managed to say, eyes widening. Roman seemed to catch his drift and gasped. "You don't mean..."
"What is it?! Stop leaving me out of your lovey dovey talk. I don't want to be the third wheel," Virgil growled. Patton and Roman looked at each other and bursted into laughter.
"O-Oh my god, this is hilarious-gold!" Roman managed to say, Patton giggled as he nodded in agreement. Virgil blinked for a few moments before it clicked. He blushed brightly and asked, "So you mean-?"
"I was in love with you ever since we met."
All three of them turned and gasped as Logan came into view. He seemed to be out of breath, panting slightly. Roman and Patton looked between the two and was fanboying in their minds.
Was their OTP coming true? Yes, this was fanfiction, duh. I mean, what?
Virgil gave a very eloquent response and muttered, "Ah-uhh-bleehh-er-hi!" Logan raised his eyebrow at that statement made in five seconds.
"Yes, were you all talking about me and my particular emotion toward Virgil? If so, I feel quite offended for not being allowed to participate," Logan responded, calm and collected as usual. Unlike Virgil, who seemed like he could collapse.
Logan, one of his first ever friends, liked him back. It was so surreal that Virgil wanted to pinch himself just making sure that this was not just some dream and fantasy he was in.
And so he did.
"Ow! Yep, this is real. This is all real. I can't believe you actually like me-?"
"Of course I do. Who wouldn't love your personality?" Logan said, giving Virgil one of the very rare smiles everyone gets to see.
Roman and Patton felt left out as they left the room, giggling to themselves. It was finally happening. As the two of them left, awkward silence crept up for the remaining two. Logan stood awkwardly at the doorway and Virgil in the mess that he made with the tables and chairs.
"I assume you also have certain romantic affections for me?"
"U-Uhm, yeah. How'd you know?"
"Not only did I walk into one of your emotional talks with Patton and Roman, I also have been gathering certain... details about this particular emotion."
Virgil nodded and looked at the floor. "Is that why you asked Patton about it?"
"Yes but it seemed to be a mistake because I figured that he would've told you."
Virgil felt his heart break slightly at that statement. Logan sighed softly and added, "But it was not exactly a bad mistake."
Virgil smiled awkwardly and asked Logan, "So, do you... wanna go out sometime?"
"I'd be delighted."
