That day he told me about him and the love of his life. It made me sad, I could see the anger, pain and love at the same time in his eyes. His eyes that sparkled and tear up when he think about her.
It broke my heart, knowing how much he loved her.
As time past by, his smile faded but it would always come back every time I ask him about her. Tear would always swell up my eyes too, seeing how much he wanted to hold her again.
Sometimes, I caught him talking to himself, to her. He would describe her to me, telling me that she was one of the most beautiful girl he'd ever seen, telling me how her hair would always flow with the wind. Telling me about her bright smile, laughs and her beautiful eyes.
They wasted time, drinking and sharing experiences. Too young to be caring about anything but each other. They held hands in the hallway and shared kisses every chances they got. People admired them as a couple. People thought that they would always be together.
He told me about their dates and the time they graduated. And when he proposed to her. He gave her a box wrapped with strings and how she opened it with care. He described how her face lit up when she saw the ring. He went on his knee, asking her to married him.
"Then she said, 'Boy, can I tell you a terrible thing? It seems that I'm sick and I've only got weeks. Please, don't be sad now, I really believe, you were the greatest thing that ever happened to me,'. My heart broke when she showed me the sheet of paper." He cried, his eyes filled with pain and his voice was shaking.
"I held her close for the rest of the night, crying next to her. My love couldn't keep her alive." I looked at him sadly, rubbing my thumb over the back of his hand. When he said that, my chest tightened. Every time I stared at him I could feel his pain, looking into his dark brown eyes seeing his love and pain for the love of his life.
"I don't want you to feel the pain that I'm going through. It will pull you down into darkness. So please, stay away from love as much as you can. I can't stand to see you hurting." He said to me with hope in his eyes. I nodded my head, wiping the tears from my cheeks.
I leaned over to him, hugging his torso close as he laid on the bed, sick. I rested my head on his stomach, not wanting to let go of him as he caressed my head softly.
"Darling, I'll make sure you'll never be alone or scared." He said, I could barely hear his voice. His eyes were shut from the tiredness.
He said that by the time he turned into a teenager, he would do anything to fall in love. And he did, with her. He said that he would always stare at her in school and she would always blushed when she caught him. Telling me how their eyes met for the first time, their first touch and their first kiss together.
"The first sentence she said to me was, 'Boy, can I tell you a wonderful thing? I can't help but notice, you're staring at me.I know I shouldn't say this, but I really believe,
I can tell by your eyes that you're in love with me'." He told me. His eyes light up when he talked about her. Tears would always swell up over his beautiful brown eyes when he told me about her.
"That's when I met your mother, the girl of my dreams."
"Don't fall in love, it's too much to lose." He added.
He reached into the night stand next to him, grabbing a picture. It was a picture of him and the love of his life smiling together. His arm was around her waist as she leaned into him, resting her head on his chest.
He then flipped the picture over. There were three words written in the middle of he picture, with a small heart.
