Marika's POV

I bursted through the hotel doors while Jeff's arm is around my shoulder. This fucking idiot is too stubborn!

He doesn't want to go to the hospital or at least take a cab home, he insisted that he was fine! But clearly, he isn't! Jeff can't even stand up straight. Now I had to find the closest hotel so he could rest because we certainly can't stay out in the cold and we're too far from my house to walk!

I wrapped my handkerchief around his side so nobody will see his bleeding cut, Jeff even wore his hood, covering his face for some unknown reason. I don't understand why he couldn't just listen to me and why he needs to hide so much.

"I need a room, please." I panted as I reached the front desk. Jeff is getting heavier by the minute and I, a typical woman, picked my things back and brought them with me. Yes, every single bag.

The guy in charge gave us a suspicious look, "I'll be needing IDs." He asked.

Shit. I didn't bring any, "Um . . . I'm sorry, I don't have one with me." It's not like I know where I placed any of those.

"Then, ma'am, I can't let you-"

"I'll pay twice as much." I cut him off, "Just give us a room."

"What?" He gawked.

"Twice.as.much." I said through gritted teeth, Jeff is losing so much blood already, I need to hurry up.

The man studied us back and forth with doubtful eyes before it turned into a bored one, "6th floor, room 214. Please, sign here." He handed me a form and a pen which I hastily took from him.

I quickly signed it. Cheap hotels . . . So it's all about money, huh? Well, whatever. At least I managed to get a room.

I gave the form to him and grabbed the keys to the room. I huffed and gathered my strength and headed towards the elevator with Jeff and my stuff, he's breathing heavily and he's getting cold. I'm scared . . .

The elevator stops and the doors opened, I walked out while supporting Jeff and looked for our room. Once I found it, I wasted no time in going inside with the use of the keys. I laid Jeff down on the bed and my shopping bags on the floor.

I flicked the lights open and shut the door, I rummaged through one of the bags. I took a bandage, disinfectant and cotton balls out. I'm glad I bought them today, it is surely useful right now.

I removed my coat considering it got warmer because of the room temperature and the physical labor I just went through.

"Okay, Jeff, I'm gonna clean your wound." I said as I sat on the bed next to him.

"I already told you . . . I'm fine." He slowly replied and sat up, "I'm leaving." Jeff said as he stood up, I watched him intently, wondering what he's up to. Jeff walked towards the wardrobe and opened it. What the fuck.

"Jeff, that's the wardrobe." I deadpanned.

It took seconds before Jeff could respond, "Oh."

"Are you going to Narnia?" I sarcastically asked. Wow, I still remember little things like that though I wish I could remember the important things instead.

"Yes, yes, I am." Jeff said, matching my sarcasm.

"Look, will you just please get your ass back here so I can help you!?" I fumed. I can't believe he even has time for jokes while he's nearly bleeding to death.

Noticing the blood seeping through the handkerchief wrapped around his waist, I immediately took Jeff by the arms and sat him down on the bed, "Take your damn hoodie off." I ordered.

"No." He blankly replied.

"Fine." I said through clenched teeth. I towered over him and gripped his hoodie with both of my hands and pulled it off of him. Jeff squirmed from my death grip but is too weak to even do a thing.

When the blood-stained hoodie was off, Jeff gave me the nastiest glare I've ever received from him which made me cower. But, then I realized, he isn't going to hurt me. Hell, he even saved me which is the reason why he got hurt.

"Just this once, do me a favor and be cooperative." I sighed as I grabbed the disinfectant and cotton.

I held his black shirt up to reveal a deep cut along his side. For a pocket knife, this cut is really long. I cleaned and disinfected Jeff's wound thoroughly, Jeff didn't say nor react the whole time, he was just silent. God, he's really thin, does he even eat?

"Okay . . ." I mumbled as I wrapped a bandage around his waist, "Done."

Jeff answered with a grunt and roughly wore his hoodie back on. I can't blame him for being mad though, it was my fault why he was involved in the first place. I'm really, really, really grateful that he saved me. That just proves it, Jeff is definitely someone I can trust, he even risked his life for me . . . I think that's enough proof.

"Jeff," I mumbled, he just glared up at me in response, "I'm sorry and thanks for saving me." I sincerely said as I looked at him straight in the eye.

His glare faltered and he gave out a sigh, "Whatever." He replied as he laid back down on the bed.

I stared at him, "How do you even sleep?" I asked in curiosity.

"What?" He replied with an irritated voice.

"Well . . . Your eyes." I fidget.

Jeff demonstrated by laying down on his back and placing an arm over his eyes, the sleeves covering them, "Now shut up or I'll sew your mouth shut." He hissed.

I shrugged and started checking the room out, there was another door near the little television on the corner of the room. I walked over, careful not to make any noises, Jeff needs to get some sleep. I peeked in and saw that it was the bathroom, figures.

Maybe I should take a bath, I've been out for the whole day, also the fact that I just got groped by a disgusting bum.

I shuddered as I remember what happened, I really owe Jeff, I don't even want to think about what might happen if Jeff hadn't come.

Deciding to take a shower, I scavenged through the bags and took some comfortable clothing out, I didn't think I'd use it so soon. I grabbed the clothes and went in the bathroom and took a good, hour-long bath.

A lot has happened today, I even talked to a detective which I apparently known before. Right, I'm in danger, a merciless killer is after me, I need to lay low . . . Billy never told me about it, but maybe there are a lot of things he doesn't know about me, I really wish he's still alive. I miss him. I wonder if I might die soon, I mean, a murderer is gonna come back for me. I'm not safe anymore.

I got out of the bath. Luckily, the hotel provides towels in the bathroom cabinets. I wore a pair of pants, shirt and a gray, short-sleeved hoodie.

I stared at myself in the mirror, something about this getup seems awfully familiar. I hope this 'familiarity' means that I'm starting to remember bits and pieces of my life.

I flicked the lights off and got out. As soon as I saw Jeff laying on the bed, I covered my mouth to prevent myself from laughing out loud.

This is priceless.

Jeff was laying on his side and his eyes were wide open. I nearly thought he was awake then I remembered his eyes, completely lidless.

Oh God, I can't stop laughing. He looks so funny! This is unquestionably the funniest thing I've seen in a while, he looks like he's staring at nothing with wide eyes! Dammit.

Not able to mute my laughter any longer, I bursted out laughing, causing Jeff to jerk awake. I bent over and clutched my stomach as I laughed at him, "Y-You . . . Stupid." I said between laughs.

"What the hell?" Jeff sat up while giving me a confused look.

I shook my head, "No, go back to . . . sleep. I'll stop." I laughed harder.

"What the fuck is it?" He impatiently said.

I controlled my laughter, a few giggles escaping, "You were sleeping with your eyes open and I saw it."

Jeff laid back down with a roll of his eyes, obviously fed up with my childishness. But I couldn't help it, it was really funny! He went back to sleep, this time, covering his eyes while I looked through my stuff with a grin that I can't seem to stop from showing.

I took the phone I bought out and decided to turn it on, I don't know anyone who I could possibly add in my contacts except James, Ace and maybe the lady who said they were my 'family'. I still kinda doubt them, I have no idea who they are, they weren't even with me in the hospital so how am I supposed to believe them? Jeff has a point, they might just be tricking me.

I shook the thoughts away. I shouldn't keep overthinking things, everything will be clear once I get my memories back. I just need some sleep right now, a lot of things happened today and I'm tired.

I looked over at Jeff to see if he's asleep, "Jeff?" I softly called out.

No response.

He must be asleep. I really don't wanna wake him up but where am I suppose to sleep? I don't wanna sleep on floor, it's cold. But I can't make a wounded person sleep on the floor. The hell do I do?

I sluggishly walked over the bed, debating where to sleep. Maybe we could divide our sides of the bed, yeah that'll work.

I turned the lights off and crawled on the bed, I laid down beside Jeff while putting as much space between us as possible. This is kinda awkward but it's not like we have a choice. I can't get another room, I need to stay here with him, you never know when he might need me because of his stab wound.

Suddenly, my tiredness seems like it was gone, typical. I rolled over to my side and faced a sleeping Jeff, when I first saw him, I was really scared of him. I guess the main reason is because of his looks, who wouldn't be alarmed if they saw a man with paper white skin, carved-in smile and lidless eyes?

But I guess there's more to it than just looks, Jeff is really nice, he helped me a bunch of times, like when he stayed with me for a whole day just because I was being irrationally depressed and especially those two times I started a fire in the house. Come to think of it, Jeff really helped me a lot. Also, something has been bugging me lately, Jeff seems familiar, maybe because he said we knew each other when we were young but I just couldn't ignore the feeling that there is probably much more than that.

I rolled to my side and faced the wall, I can't sleep at all. I stared at the wall with a lot of things running on my mind like 'who am I?', 'what's my purpose?', 'is this permanent?'. I hope my memory loss is just temporary, I need my memories back and I'm starting to get scared because I know there's a possibility that they may never come back again and I'll just be . . . Well, confused until I die, and I clearly don't want that.

I heard shuffling beside me, before I could even roll over to see what's up, I felt Jeff's arms snake around my waist and pulling me towards him. Jeff buried his face on the crook of my neck, I can feel his even breathing on my neck.

Before I could react, an image flashed on my mind. It's my brother, the younger-looking one, it looked like he was asleep. Suddenly, this 'hug' feels indescribably familiar, maybe I experienced it before-wait, it's not 'maybe', I am a hundred percent sure I experienced this before, I just can't pinpoint when.

But that doesn't change the fact that Jeff is hugging me in my sleep! What the fuck do I do!? He's still asleep!

I blushed a thousand shades of red as my heart beat races. Well, you can't exactly say I'm used to people, I don't even remember anything! I tried to scoot away only to be pulled back to him, urgh! This is awkward, very awkward.

But strangely, I didn't hate it. Like I've said, it feels really familiar. It's kind of reminding me of an old memory and I feel really safe.

Soon enough, I found myself dozing off at the steady sound of Jeff's heartbeat.

。。。。。。。。。。。。。。。

I fluttered my eyes open at the bright sun rays streaming through the window, I slowly moved around to gain more consciousness. I glanced around, this is not my room . . . Oh wait, I forgot, we are in a hotel.

We.

My eyes went wide as I remembered Jeff, I was now awake and aware that Jeff is still hugging me. Nervous, I slowly sat up and removed his arms from me and succeeded in not waking him up. I stood up and stretched, my foot still hurts for a bit because of all the running and walking I did while assisting Jeff.

I yawned and looked at Jeff, he must be tired, he lost a lot of blood too. Then, I noticed something glimmering and peaking from his hoodie pocket.

Curious, I tiptoed to Jeff's side and took it out. It's the knife he used yesterday, good thing he didn't kill the man even though how horrible things were. That just proves that Jeff is a goo-

I didn't get to finish my thoughts. As I was studying the knife, my head started to ache and a few of images which are my memories came back. This time, it was a lot longer than my other memory flashes.

It's Jeff, he was in my home's living room, he was holding the knife, his hoodie was stained with blood and he said 'I am Jeff, your brother.' while wearing a scary smile on his face.

I dropped the knife, making a clattering sound. I gripped my head in pain, "What the hell . . ." I said through gritted teeth. Fortunately, the headache disappeared but the confusion didn't.

Jeff seems to have woken up and sat up with a confused look on his face, "What is it?" He asked, looking at me before his gaze fell to his knife on the floor.

"Jeff . . ." I muttered as I stared at him with serious eyes, "Are you my brother?"
