"Bre, come on bruh. Get up and get dressed," Romeo said as he pulled the comforter off of Breaunna.
"Noooo, I'm too tired Romeo. Please." Breaunna pulled the covers back up, over her head this time.
"I'm not playing with you. We got important shit to do today so get up."
Bre and Romeo had an appointment with the courts today. They were trying to get full custody of Cali.
Breaunna didn't understand why they had to go through the courts to get Cali when they already had her.
But Romeo wanted to do this because they didn't have any records for her. He was thinking into the future, like what if they wanted to register her for school... They had no birth certificate, social security card, nothing.
After twenty minutes, Breaunna finally decided to get out of the bed. Romeo was heated because he knew how long she took to get ready and he didn't want to be late.
If they wanted to make an impression and be on the courts good side, being late was not one of them.

They pulled up to the court house with less than five minutes to spare for their appointment.
"Breaunna, come on," Romeo said as he helped her out of the car, "you taking all damn day."
He was still salty because they would have made it there sooner if Breaunna didn't have to do her makeup and her hair, then fix a big ass breakfast.
"Can't you see I'm pregnant," she said in a harsh tone.
It's the pregnancy hormones, Romeo thought to himself. He had to remind himself to not go off on her because she was pregnant and he didn't want to hurt her feelings.
Instead of starting an argument, he helped her up the stairs, then walked off to sign them in.
As soon as Romeo was about to sit down, the lady behind the front desk spoke up.
"Ahh, sir, you're just in time for your appointment. If you could follow me, that'll be great," she said.
Romeo motioned for Breaunna to come so they could follow the lady. She led them down a long hallway, and stopped in front of a door, then she opened.
"Your twelve o'clock is here Ms. Johnson," she said and walked off leaving us.
Romeo and Breaunna took a seat in front of the dark cherry colored desk.
Ms. Johnson's back was turned to them. She was focused on whatever she was doing on her laptop, not paying them any attention.
"Excuse me," Breaunna said and Ms. Johnson quickly turned around.
"Hi, I'm sorry about that," she said turning around. "My name is Ms. Johnson. I'm a social worker that'll be working on your case regarding a child that you want to adopt. Am I correct?"
"Correct," Breaunna said with slight attitude. Romeo noticed but he tried to ignore it. He had no idea why she was acting like that.
"Name, please?"
"Her name is Cali," Romeo started before Breaunna could speak. "I assume her last name is Jones because of her mother's last name."
She turned around and searched for Cali's name in the database.
"Ah, yes. There's only one Cali Jones in here. She was born not too long ago, February 4th to be exact. Does this information sound like it matches the kid you were looking for?"
"Yes-" Breaunna started to say but Ms. Johnson cut her off before she could continue saying what she was about to say.
"I'm sorry, but it looks like the parents never put her up for adoption. You cannot adopt her yet. The process for adoption is not easy, it takes months."
"But here's the thing," Breaunna started to say. She was trying to be as calm as possible but this Ms. Johnson was pissing her off. "Romeo and I watched Cali's mother leave her sitting on a picnic table. Her mother never came back for her, and being the kindhearted people we are, we took her in. All we are trying to do is adopt her. So will it happen?"
"It's not that easy, sweetheart. As I stated before, the process for adoption is not easy. It's very long and hard."
"Can you please explain the process for us so we can understand?" Romeo asked nicely.
Ms. Johnson smiled and diverted her attention to Romeo. Before she spoke she sat up in her chair and pushed her boobs up. Breaunna noticed three of her buttons was undone. She could almost see down her whole shirt, being that it was so small and barely buttoned up.
Trashy bitch, Breaunna thought to herself.
"Okay, so there are two stages in the adoption process: pre-placement and post-placement. Placement is when the child enters your home. Pre-placement describes the time before and post-placement the time after. There is a pre-placement waiting period for all adoptions. The time frame, like the cost, varies with the type of child being adopted. With a completed homestudy in hand, the process to adopt a child can often proceed quickly and be completed within a few months."
"A homestudy? Can you explain that?" Romeo asked.
"It's basically a series of meetings with a social worker, me, to provide you guys with more information about adoption and to help you prepare for parenting an adopted child."
"And what if we don't want to do this homestudy thing with you?" Breaunna said. Romeo grabbed her thigh and squeezed it, trying to get her to stop being petty asking dumb questions.
"You don't have a choice, sweetheart. Being that this is a newborn, it's mandatory for you to complete." Ms. Johnson said smiling at Breaunna. Breaunna fake smiled right back at her.
"You can stop calling me sweetheart, thanks."
"Anyway, where is the child?"
"With my mother," Romeo said.
"Okay so unless you two wanna be charged for kidnapping, I'm gonna ask that you bring the child here within a day. You cannot just keep her. You must wait until this whole process is done and you might just able to adopt her if another family doesn't get to her first. This concludes our meeting for today."

"What the fuck were you being so petty and smart by the mouth for?" Romeo asked Breaunna as they walked down the steps of the court house.
She didn't say anything she just walked off to the car. Well she attempted to walk off, but Romeo grabbed her arm and yanked her back.
"Don't walk away when I'm talking to you. I don't know what your problem is but you better fix it before I do. How the hell you expect for this lady to like us if you wanna be childish and shit with this nasty ass attitude you got?" He yelled at her.
"So it's my fault? When the bitch was being just as petty. She cut me off when I was trying to speak and never paid me any attention being that she was so focused on you. If anything, the bitch was being disrespectful to me and unprofessional dressed the way she was, smiling in your damn face. So don't you dare come for me."
