"Max!" I cried out of fright and quickly got up.
"Max!" Aubrey gasped and stumbled on her own feet again. This girl is so clumsy. She was staring blankly at Max, with her mouth and eyes wide opened like a goldfish. I turned back around to look at Max who was staring back at Aubrey like a deer caught in headlights.
How the hell did he get here? Haven't my parents seen him entering through the main door? They would have never let Max come up in my room so early in the morning. Even though we are sort of a couple now. Yeah, I know that they have been really cautious whenever Max would be alone in my bedroom and whenever they would catch Max sneaking through the window of my room, they would make both of us sit in front of them to talk about teenage pregnancy. Like duh, I don't think Max and I would do such a stupid thing. I mean, we aren't that stupid.
Well, Max has been a great boyfriend so far. Shocked? Yeah, I know. Max, being the womanizer and baddest boy of St-Xavier high school, has proven that he can be a sweet and loving boyfriend and yeah, he still gets over possessive sometimes but I kind of love it. I know that you might find me weird for loving his over possessive side but I do. Well, I think every woman needs a man with a little Christian Grey in him. What say, huh? We have been dating since three weeks now and I seem to have known Max all along. We are so much alike yet different but we do appreciate our uniqueness and try to compliment our contradictory views on something.
Aubrey, being Aubrey, returned back from her grandma's place a lot later than intended. Instead of returning back on the second week of school, she came back on the third week. Her flight landed like after midnight yesterday and instead of being asleep at her place, she landed at my place. Heck, I don't even know how can someone be so energetic when she has just traveled such a long journey. She had to be jet lagged but well, what can I do? I was still trying to gather up the tiniest effort to tell her about Max and I's relationship but she just had to pop up when I least expect it.
I was brought out of my trance when Aubrey screeched. Again! Oh lord!
"What the freaking hell are you doing in my bestie's bedroom and how the fuck did you get in here?" Aubrey yelled and got protectively in front of me. I bit back a chuckle. What is she doing? Does she think Max want to attack me?
"Woah! Cool it girl! I'm just here -
"Don't freaking tell me you've been going out with my girlfriend behind my back. How dare you? I mean how could you? You -
"What the hell, Aubrey?" I cried, my cheeks reddening with embarrassment.
"What? Why? I thought we had something going on -
"What's going on between you two?" Aubrey sort of demanded irritably, cutting Max off completely. Max looked at me with a is-your-friend-here-mad? look. I couldn't help it anymore. I laughed at them but grimaced when Aubrey glared at me. Shit! I knew that it would be a real case if Aubrey would be the last person to know about this. I should have told her right away when Max asked me to be his girlfriend but I haven't.
"Tell me everything now!" she deadpanned and crossed her arms over her chest while tapping her right shoe repeatedly on the floor. She always does that when she's being impatient. God, can you help me with this, please? I could almost hear God answering back with a 'she's your best friend, deal with it yourself!' I huffed out in annoyance. What am I supposed to do now?
"Um... Um.. I-I don't know?" I said but it came out sounding more like a question. Max shook his head at me, snickering to himself and then smirked. On no! I know this smirk. He walked towards me and stood just a few inches away from me.
I could feel Aubrey watching us like a hawk but her eyes widened with surprise when Max wounded his arms around my waist and pulled me in his arms. I gasped and my hands fell limply by my sides. He kissed me on my forehead and I almost swooned when his lips came into contact with my skin. Gosh! Even though we've been dating for three weeks now, I still get the tingles whenever Max would hold my hand or kiss me. As for my heart, well, my heart just goes out of control whenever he would be near me. I don't think that I would ever get over this. I looked up at him to find him already staring back at me. I smiled sheepishly and hid my face in his chest. He chuckled and my blush deepened when I felt his chest vibrate. Heck!
Someone cleared her throat and I pulled away to see Aubrey looking at us lovingly, like a mother watching her daughter finally getting married. I almost forgot that Aubrey was still here with us in the room.
"Well, don't fucking tell me it's all about what I'm thinking right now!" she squealed and clapped her hands, getting hyper and a little bit too overly excited. I shook my head at her. She's never gonna change, this girl. She's a crazy person who has been pushed out of the mental house for being too mad. Jokes apart but that's just the way she is.
"Like how the freaking fucking hell? You hit it girl!" Aubrey jumped like a monkey and then hugged me tightly, like her life depended on it. Ouch!
"C-can't b-b-breathe -
"Oops! Sorry but you did not tell me about this!" she deadpanned and gasped. She raised her right index finger pointedly at me with a shock look on her face. "You-you-you ugh -
She pouted and it looked like she was about to start crying.
"I'm sorry -
"No, don't you fucking talk to me. It's all over -" she hiccups and wiped at her faked tears - "we are over. I'm telling you, like hell I'll talk to you. Go see if your boyfriend will give you a ride to school. I'm never ever going to talk to you -
"Actually, Max picks me up in the mornings everyday and then drop m -
"What? You-you are ugh! I hate you! -
"Hey! Did you forget to brush your teeth in the morning? Your mouth stinks." Max suddenly asked Aubrey and the latter just gasped in shock.
What the hell? I know that Aubrey always uses crude language and I mean like really, she has never ever converse to someone without cussing, well, she doesn't really talk like that to me but no one has ever dared asked her something like that. No one! Oh no!
Suddenly not being able to hold it in anymore, I looked at Aubrey who also glanced at me with a sort of a little grin and then, we erupted into guffaws.
"Oh gosh! I haven't had such a good laugh since forever." she snickered again and then lightly punched Max on his right shoulder but with the way Max's face scrunch up with pain, I could tell that Aubrey wasn't so soft with her punch.
"Thanks, mate." she winked at him and then wiggled her eyebrows suggestively at me.
I rolled my eyes at my dramatic best friend and she chuckled. She's such a drama queen. Why did I become friends with her again? I mean why am I still friends with her? We are like polar opposite yet, we never let those differences crush our relationship. People do say that opposites attract so maybe, that's what drew us together and we have been stuck with each other since childhood.
Anyway, I think that it's a good thing Aubrey likes Max.
"But I need to have the talk with him." she whispered slowly while narrowing her eyes to inspect Max like a vampire who has just noticed her next prey.
Shit! The talk!
I guess I spoke too soon.
