Three weeks later
"Lion"
"Lion, no" Lion tried to lick off a watermelon
"Lioooon"Steven pulled the plate away and the pink feline whined
"fine, but only one" he tossed a slice and Lion ate it in one bite, Steven chuckled. he put them all in a basket and smiled. As he was about to leave the warp lighted up to show Pearl
"oh hello Steven where are you going?" she walked off the platform and walked to him
"I'm going on a picnic with Connie!" he chirped "wanna come Pearl?"
"no I'm fine, me and Amethyst will go to the kindergarten later"
"oh, good luck then?" he tried to say, but the kindergarten always gave him bad memories
"yes yes, bye Steven!" she said as he walked out and ran to her small cottage and knocked. A muffled 'coming' said through the door and it flew open. There was the skilled human, she wore her light blue sunday dress with her old red boots and a large woven hat. she looked like the first day he met her. she carried a small teal bag
"I'm ready" she said- gasping for air
"you look great Connie!" he said and they began to walk to the cliff - suprisingly quiet
"so what have you been doing?" Connie asked akwardly
"well me and Peridot have been working on something, don't know what it is though. She usually tells me but she says it was a suprise, by the look of it Lapis knows but she won't tell me-" the words started to blur in Connie's mind.
"okay we're here" he said and started to set up in the soft grass
~time skip~
they ate in silence, Steven hoped that they could finally talk about this and move on but it still was difficult. Connie face looked constipated yet a bit red at the same time-
"Steven" Steven internally sighed- this was finally going somewhere
"yes?"
"remember what I wore when we first met?" he nodded "this is what I wore"
"-because I wanted this day to be special" she inched her face closer to him
"when I first met you I didn't much of you but..." she got even closer and started to put her arms on his shoulders, Steven gulped
"when we first fused, I knew that we belonged... together" she inched even closer
"Steven I love y-"
"Connie please" he was in tears and was trying to wipe it away
"Steven whats wrong?" she sat up and questioned
"Please don't do this"
"W-why?"
"I don't want to hurt you" he wiped them away "Just find someone better then me- I'm sure you will" he ran- he didn't want to see the hurt on Connie's face

2 weeks and 3 days earlier
Peridot fumbled with her papers and took out a pencil and started writing on a stick note and attaching it to the barn wall. She tried to organize all her papers but they all scattered down to the floor. She slowly took them- labled them and put them to the side. She started writing and scribbling on her paper once again. Steven looked at the mess Peridot was engulfed in and questioned.
"Peridot, are you okay?"
"Yes I'm fine" she said immediately with a monotone voice
"what are you working on?" he walked to her and hugged her waist- pulling her back
"something"
"mind telling me?"
"Its something you told me three days ago"
"hm?"
"you'll see soon"
"why don't you just tell me"
"I want it to be a suprise" she said and sighed as she continued writing
"you look like you want to sleep"
"gems don't need to sleep"
"but you want to" Peridot chuckled
"you know me too well"
"I'll clean up here and you sleep" he kissed her cheek and carried her bridal style to the couch
"nighty night" she whispered as she snuggled into the couch.

"Peridot hurry up!" Steven got impatient as he stood outside the barn.
"She's coming!" Lapis yelled as she stuffed in as many ribbons as she could as Peridot tried to tear them off. There was muffled yells as Peridot was trying to get her to stop
Lapis choked up at her hair and laughed out while the green gem was yelling at her.
"Screw Youuuuuuu!" she said as she ran to a mirror to pull the ribbons out of her hair and straightened it to her usual sharp triangle hair and wrapped a band around it to make a short ponytail
'Sorry Steven! I-" she said and her foot bumped into a lump of flesh "Um... Steven?" she kicked it again and saw steven laying on the floor. She bent down and poked his cheek
"Steven" he woke up and slowly looked at peri. After 45 seconds Steven's eyes widened and his face turned red.
"Oh um I'm sorry must've fell asleep" he stood up and scratched his head and said "Are you ready to go?" he extended a hand to her and she took it fast
"Yup!" she smiled and walked out with him to wherever Steven had in plan

"Steven what is this place?"
"its like hitting this dart at the circle in the middle and getting a prize" he said getting a dart to demonstrate. He first took a dollar and handed it to the booth person and threw his dart at the sign. it hit just at the edge and Steven chuckled
"Do you wanna try?" he handed a dart over to Peridot. She stared at the sign intensely and threw it. It only got a bit farther than Steven's. She suddenly got enraged and took the last dart- throwing it and almost hitting the booth guy, she covered her mouth in shock
"Ahhahahaaaaa- yeah we'll go now" he started tugging on Peridot to run and she followed as they ran to multiple games and trying them all. after hours of rides and games Steven and Peridot sat on the soft yet rigid sand and closed their eyes- enjoying the soft and comforting waves of the ocean
"Peridot"
"Yes Stevey?"
"how old are you?"
"I'm around- like- twelve years and three fourths in Earth time"
"so your around two years younger than me"
"Yes I guess so"
"Peri?"
"Yes Steven" she huffed, a bit tired with this conversation
"I'm scared of getting children" Peridot choked up and held her breath
"W-what do you mean..."
"I want little babies to take care of when I grow up, but since your a gem..."
"- that can't happen" Peridot finished
"exactly, but I want you to be the mom- so what do I do?" he said absentminded. He had been so tired that day that he said his thoughts unaware of what he said
"I-um I- I- maybe-uhm" her words had been tied in knots, she didn't know what to say. Pearl and Greg had taught her about babies, children and the human lifespan so knowing it was impossible to be the mother AND alive at the same time was hard to make an answer.
"you know what, let think of it another time" she said and looked at Steven already asleep
"I'll think of a way to do that" she took his hand and closed her eyes
"tomorrow"
