Sorry for being inactive- will a long chapter make it up?
I hope so.
Skye
I walked into the offices, my stomach growling.
I forgot to eat breakfast.
By that, I mean I went to sleep too late, which caused me to ignore my alarm.
So, I only had 15 minutes to get ready.
Anyway, I walked into my office and sat down.
"Hey, Skye."
I turned to see Ashley in my door way.
"Hey, Ashley. What's up?"
"Not much. Brianna is coming in today. I decided to bring her in early so that you two can meet."
I smiled.
Another girl, yes!
"Where is she?" I asked.
"I'm right here." I heard a high pitched voice say.
Ashley moved to the side to show a girl.
Brianna has short brown hair that goes just past her ears. Her hair was curled.
"Hi, Brianna."
"Please, call me Bri." She smiled.
I smiled back.
"I'm Skye." I replied.
"I like your hair." She said. "How did you do it?"
"This hairstyle?" I questioned. "It's just a messy bun. I guess I could show you later." I smiled.
"That would be awesome!"
"I'll leave you two to it." Ashley said then left.
"So, do you live with Ashley?" I asked.
"Yeah! How did you know?" She asked me.
"Lucky guess." I admitted.
"Alright. Who do you live with?" She asked, walking into my room a little bit more.
"I live with Adam. For now, at least. Hopefully, I'll find an apartment soon." I said.
"Well, I don't know any apartments for rent at the moment. But I'll let you know if I see any."
"Thanks!" I said.
"No problem, Skye." She left the room.
Something was off about her.
After being in a few orphanages, I knew quite a lot about people.
Like, I knew when someone was lying.
Or, I knew when someone was guilty.
And, I knew when someone was off.
I shook the thought away.
No, I can't think like this anymore.
After all, I was wrong about Jason.
And that's a first.
I turned back to my phone and realized that I had gotten a few text messages from some 'friends'.
Wait.
My phone was right side up.
Which means that you could see the messages as they came through.
Oh no.
What did they say?
Thanks for cheating on him. Now he's alone and depressed.
I saw you at that restaurant yesterday. Nice you see that you made some friends without me.
You stupid little whore.
I didn't even tear up at this one.
I was just scared that Bri saw them.
My thoughts were interrupted by a knock on the door.
I like to keep my door open, so that more people can come in.
But I guess people knock anyway.
I turned around to see Red at the door.
"Hey, Skye." He said.
"Hello to you, Red."
"So, I don't have any video recordings until after lunch and I'm bored. And, your office looks boring."
I chuckled.
"Hey! Don't insult my office! And it's not plain, look outside the window." I said standing up to look at the view as well.
Red followed me.
"See?" I pointed. "The city is right there." I paused. "And there is a perfectly straight road down to the left." I pointed.
Our faces looking out of the window.
They were so close.
"And if you look this way," Red took my hand and pointed to the right. "There is a Taco Truck."
I took my hand back and smacked him in the shoulder with the sleeve of my sweater.
"Ow!" He said, then smacked me in the shoulder.
I gasped while laughing.
Which hurts, but it was too funny to complain.
"How dare you!" I said through laughs.
I lightly punched him in the side.
"Really, Skye? That's all you got?" He stood up straighter.
I stood up and stretch by back so that I was as tall as I could be.
But, Red was like, 5'9 and I was only 5'7.
Well, 5'7 is the average for a 20 year old girl.
"Not at all, Red. Not. At. All." I threatened playfully.
Red chuckled. Then lightly punched my in my side.
I squirmed, then laughed.
"Oh! So you're ticklish there." Red threatened.
"No! No no no no!" I backed up as much as I could.
Until I was against a wall.
"You're cornered." Red smiled. "Nowhere to go."
"I'm warning you." I paused. "If you lay one finger on me I swea-" Red picked me up then set me on the floor in the middle of my office.
Then, he started tickling my sides.
I tried telling him to stop, but my threats weren't taken as seriously as I wanted because I was laughing.
"I wouldn't mess with her, Red."
I looked towards the doorway to see Zoe, smiling.
"She's tough."
"And how do you know this?" Red questioned, still pinning me to the floor.
Zoe took a quick breath. "She beat up three guys that were messing with me."
Red looked at Zoe in shock.
Then, he looked down at me.
I tilted my head, as if to say, 'She's right'.
Red looked back at Zoe, and Zoe left.
He slowly backed away, then stood up.
Red reached a hand out to pull me up.
Planning my revenge for later, I grabbed his hand, then pulled myself up.
My stomach growled.
"You hungry?" Red asked.
I nodded. "I forgot to eat breakfast."
"Same." Red smiled. "Maybe we could go to Target and buy stuff for your horrid office."
I glared at him.
"Okay, so maybe your office isn't horrible. Just plain."
I smiled.
"Okay. Let's go." I grabbed my phone and we both left.
