"I have some news," Mum said as she set her fork down.
"What is it?" Helen asked taking a sip from her water.
"Well, at the meeting today, they told me something. My boss saw the pictures I have taken and she wants me to go to London and take some photos for a magazine!" She beamed.
"That's great!" Helen said.
"The bad news is that I'll be gone for New Year's."
I gave Helen a look. If she's gone for New Year's that means we can go to the party.
"Mum, we'll miss you, but I think you should take this opportunity, this can be your big break you have been waiting for," I said enthusiastically.
"You're right, I'm going to do it. I'll be gone for five days. I'm leaving on Tuesday. You guys will be okay while I'm gone, right?" Mum asked.
"Oh, yea," Me and Helen said in unison.
This party is going to be epic.

Today was the last day of 2014 and I'm going to spend it with my brother, boyfriend, Michael and Ashton. I'm excited. The party started at 9:30 PM and it was at 10, still had time to get ready, I don't think we are suppose to get there on time
I decided to call Adin. I clicked on his contact name and it rang.
After the third rang he answered.
"Hello" He said.
"Ask my dad for the hundred dollar bill," I said.
"What?" He asked.
"The bet we made, remember? You won, I'm dating Calum and it was before the year ended," I replied.
"Ha! Bitch, I told you," He said and I heard him laugh.
I snorted, "Yea well, I'm getting ready for a New Year's party."
"Have fun, don't get too crazy. I know how you get when you're drunk."
I laughed, "You too."
"Alright, bye, Helen."
"Bye, Adin," I said and hung up.
I changed into a black loose tank top that had the MTV logo on it, slipped on some ripped black skinny jeans and black Converse.
I brushed my teeth and combed my hair before walking downstairs.
Luke was in the kitchen with his red flannel and freshly quiffed blonde hair.
"What's up, bro," I said.
"Hi?" He said slowly.
The door bell rang, I went to open it and the boys stood there.
"Hey!" Michael said and pulled me into a bear hug. I hugged back. He pulled away and then Ashton hugged me.
"What's up, Helen," He said as he broke away.
"Nothing much, just cleaning up after Luke," I replied.
Ashton giggled and moved past me and towards the kitchen.
Finally Calum wrapped his arms around my waist and picked me up into a tight hug. I hugged him back and rested my head in the crook of his neck, I could smell his cologne.
"Hello gorgeous," He whispered in my ear.
I lightly pressed my lips to his as my hair fell around both our faces.
"Relationship goals," Michael said.
We both pulled away and Calum put me down.
We all laughed.
"Okay," I said, "I'm going to give you a warning, I get a little crazy at parties. Especially when I get drunk, I get all confident and shit."
"And who says you're going to get drunk?" Luke asked.
"We all know that we are all going to get drunk," I replied.
"She's right," Michael said.
"Fine, but stay away from the bedrooms you two," Luke said and eyed me and Calum.
I felt my cheeks get hot.
"Lets go," Ashton said.
"Their house is like 5 blocks away, and we really are going to get drunk we shouldn't take a car." Luke said.
We all agreed and walked outside. I locked the door behind me and started walking onto the concrete sidewalk.
The night, quiet, the only sound came from our shoes slapping the pavement and Ashton's occasional giggle.
The night was fresh. The sky was illuminated by the silver moon that hung in the sky. Stars were scattered across the night sky.
I felt Calum intertwine his fingers with mine, he gave my hand a small squeeze. I smiled slyly at him.
A deep sudden bass filled my ears, we rounded a corner and the sound was coming from a two story house. A few people stood outside. I saw the thick smoke emerge from their mouths.
We walked towards the house and I caught a whiff of something I remember all too much.
Marijuana.
"What's that smell?" Calum asked.
"Weed," I replied.
"And how do you know?" Luke asked.
"Kids in California loved the relaxation Mary Jane brought to them," I replied.
The music was pounding in the ears as we stood outside the door.
Michael opened the door and bodies were crowded around the entrance. We got in and closed the door.
The air smelled of alcohol and sex.
"Be careful," I heard Luke scream over the music into my ear.
"Okay," I shouted back.
Calum tightened his grip on my hand.
We made our way towards the bar. We moved sweaty teenagers out of our way to get the the bar. I leaned against the bar.
"What can I get for you?" The brunette teenage boy asked.
"Get me a beer." I said.
"Make that five," Calum said.
"Coming right up," The boy said before going to a fridge and opening it.
Luke stood next to me and Calum on my other side.
The bartender came back and slid our drinks across the island. I grabbed the cold bottle and took a swig.
Over the next two hours we all danced and drank.
'Animals' by Martin Garrix blasted from the speakers, me and the guys piled onto the dance floor.
The wait for the beat to drop got us pumped up.
"WE ARE FUCKING ANIMALS!" We all shouted before jumping up and down.
The DJ was really good and played music that got us into the dancing mood. He played 'Summer', 'Under Control,' 'Blame' by Calvin Harris. A few songs by Zedd, Fancy by Iggy and other songs.
"Listen we got 10 seconds left in 2014," The DJ said into the microphone.
Everyone began counting down, "9,8,7,6,5,4..3..2!"
I felt Calum grab my waist and pull me close.
"1! Happy New Year!" We all shouted.
Everyone screamed and yelled and cheered. Calum pressed his lips against mine. I could taste the alcohol on his lips.
"Happy New Yea babe, this year is going to be the best," Calum said when he pulled away.
I smiled at him, "Happy New Year Cal."
We kissed one more time and joined the cheering for the new year.
One hour into the New Year and I was wasted. I had taken ten shots of tequila and vodka.
My dances with Calum began to get dirtier as I grinded against his body. I wasn't the only one. Other girls were dancing even dirtier against their boyfriends.
Luke, Ashton and Michael were in the sidelines, just watching and occasionally jumping around when a good song came up.
I almost fell but Calum caught me and we both began giggling.
Suddenly Uptown Funk blasted from the speakers and I began screaming.
"This is my song!" I slurred.
I climbed onto the bar and began singing along. everyone was cheering me on and singing with me.
"I"M TOO HOT! HOT DAMNN!" I said.
"DON'T BELIEVE ME JUST WATCH."
Everyone danced and I fell off the bar. I got up and took another shot a fruity drink.
I started to get hungry and Calum brought five brownies. I devoured mine. They tasted weird, but I ate one more because I was too hungry.
I couldn't keep my hands off Calum. All this alcohol flowing through my veins probably affected my hormones.
I started to feel relaxed and happy. Verry happy. I felt my mind drifting away from my body. I felt warm on the inside everything was just so beautiful.
"Calum you're so cute," I giggled and squeezed his bicep.
I felt so abnormal, strange.
A few of my friends back in California told me about his feeling too.
I realized....I was high.
The brownies probably had weed in them.
I began swaying back in forth and rested against Calum's chest.
"It's getting late," Luke said as he stumbled towards us. His eyes looked droppey.
He was smiling like an idiot and I laughed.
"Maybe we should go home," I said but it came out like a sing.
Everything felt so majestic and amazing. I felt good.
"Let's head home then, I wonder if the sky will change color just like the ceiling is," Michael said before laughing.
"That's amazing, do you see that unicorn?" Ashton giggled.
We made our way towards the door and my vision started to get blurry. But it was just so nice.
