TRIGGER WARNINGS

-

"Thank God." I breathed, Hershel breathing again.

They were going through the prison when he got bit and Rick had to amputate is leg from the knee down.

He stopped breathing, Lori gave him CPR, and now he's breathing again.

-

I walked into the small grocery store, a walker already lunging at me.

I quickly stabbed it in the head with my knife before walking to where the carts were.

I looked at the list that everyone made for me before grabbing a cart.

"Okay, I'll get the girls' stuff, you get the boys'." I told Glenn.

-

"Let's get back. It's about to get dark." Glenn declared, helping me put the rest of the supplies in the trunk.

"Samantha?"

I spun around, thinking it was my head playing games with me again when I heard Shane's voice.

I blinked a few times, Shane in front of me.

I looked to Glenn, his eyes just as wide as mine.

"I be damn." Shane stated.

"You're not real, you're not real." I whispered, closing my eyes shut.

I was really losing my mind.

"Sam, he's there." Glenn stated, grabbing my arm.

I opened my eyes for a split second, Shane still in front of me.

I fell on my butt, putting my head in my hands.

"I'm going crazy." I whispered.

"Baby, I'm real. I found a group off the highway, they helped me." Shane explained, his hands gently grabbing my wrists and pulling my hands from my face.

"But you died in my arms." I replied.

"No, I passed out from the blood loss." He replied.

"I can't believe it." I replied.

"You better believe it. I'm here ain't I?" He asked, a goofy smile playing on his lips.

Tears pooled around my eyes as I realized that he was actually in front of me.

It's him.

-

"Are you coming back with us?" Glenn asked.

"No. I got my own group, now." Shane replied.

"But you have to come back and see all of us." I replied.

He shook his head 'no', awkwardly looking to the ground.

"The baby's coming any day now." I mumbled.

"I'm staying out of Rick and Lori's life. I screwed it up enough." He replied.

"But what about us?" I asked.

"You're an amazing person and I'm glad you were in my life when you were, but that's in the past now. I started over with my group." He answered.

"Oh." I mumbled.

"You're just throwing away what you two had?" Glenn asked.

"Now that's harsh." Shane replied.

"It's the truth though. That's exactly what you're doing," I replied, looking into his eyes.

"I'm sorry, I really am, but I've hurt you enough. I've hurt everyone enough. I'm putting everything in the past." Shane replied.

I nodded, trying to understand.

"We gotta head back. It's getting dark." Glenn mumbled.

"Will I ever see you?" I inquired.

"Maybe." He answered.

I nodded, opening the car door.

"Where's your group?" I asked.

"A few miles from here. We're a community, people of all ages." He answered.

"Where are y'all? I went back to the farm but it was run over with walkers." He continued.

Glenn nudged me with his elbow, so I figured I shouldn't tell Shane where we were.

"About five miles from here." I replied.

His eyes met mine for the second time, and I desperately just wanted to hug him.

"Do you come here often?" Shane asked.

"Maybe twice a week." I replied.

"I come here every Tuesday around this time." He replied.

"So today is Tuesday?" I asked.

"Yeah. September twenty-eighth." He answered.

I hadn't kept up with the time since the farm.

"Well, I gotta get back. My, uh, girlfriend's waiting on me." He replied.

"Girlfriend?" I inquired.

"Yeah." He replied.

"Oh." I replied.

"It's alright if we come here to get supplies too?" Glenn asked, changing subjects.

"Yeah, I won't tell my group." Shane joked.

"Okay, cool." Glenn replied.

"Well, um, I'm glad you're alive." I told Shane before getting in the car.

"You too." He replied.

I closed the door after I got in, immediately trying to hold the tears in.

I shouldn't be crying over him. He made it clear that what's in the past is in the past.

"Idiot." Glenn muttered, getting in the drivers side.

"I know, I shouldn't be crying." I replied.

"Not you, him." He replied.

"Oh." I mumbled, trying the blink back the tears.

"I'm just as shocked as you are." He replied.

"Nobody's gonna believe us." I replied.

-

I sat on my bed, biting my thumb nail.

It had been an exact week since I seen Shane at the store, and everyone actually believed us.

"Are you sure you wanna come?" Glenn asked.

"We're a team, I'm gonna come with you." I answered.

We walked into the store, my heart beating faster than it should.

"Do you think we can switch the days we come here?" I asked.

"Yeah, and hopefully Maggie can come with us the next time." He replied.

"Yup, she's funner than you are." I teased.

"Gee, thanks." He replied.

I laughed, beginning to pick up the small amount of items I needed, before getting everyone else's.

A hand wrapped around my mouth, pulling me into a small room.

I screamed, a scary man in front of me.

"Shut up!" He grunted, slapping me across the face.

I pulled my pistol out of the holster and held it up at him as he locked the door.

I hissed, the guy kicking it out of my hand.

I screamed again, the guy putting his nasty hands on me.

I reached for my knife but the man took it from my hands and put it on my throat.

"You scream again and I'll kill ya." He muttered, dragging the blade across my skin.

Tears pooled around my eyes as he slid his hand into my pants.

"Move again and I'll make you wish you never moved." He mumbled.

I brought my knee up to his private, mentally patting myself on the back as he got off of me.

I reached for my knife that he dropped,
and cursed as he took it and dragged it down my arm.

I screamed out in pain, tears pooling in my eyes.

I looked over to the door, someone banging on it from the other side.

"No one's getting in here, sweetheart." The nasty man growled.

His fist connected with my eye, repeatedly.

"I'll let ya out when ya give me what I want." He replied.

I looked over to the big metal door which was locked with two deadbolts.

The hope drained out of me as I realized no one could get in, and I knew he was going to kill me anyway.

"Please don't." I pleaded, the knife pressing to my throat.

"Let's see what that ass can do." He mumbled, his hands fiddling with my jeans as he tried to unbutton them.

I gave up, watching the blood seep down my arm and he was pulling my jeans and underwear down my legs.

Tears streamed down my cheeks as he positioned himself into me.

I sobbed, wailing each time he thrusted into me.

Not only because of the disgusting piece of shit that was touching me, but also because it hurt.

I cried even harder after I didn't hear anyone trying to get in the door anymore.

After the nasty man was done with me, he stood up and pulled his jeans back on.

"Looks like they gave up." He laughed, unlocking the door.

I quickly pulled my underwear back up, my shirt laying across the room.

I couldn't move, and I couldn't do anything but sit with tears streaming down my cheeks.

I flinched, the door opening and someone tackling the man to the floor.

It was all so fast I couldn't tell who it was.

"My girlfriend didn't give you enough last night, huh?"

I then recognized the voice as Shane, watching as he punched the guy over and over.

I cringed, watching as Shane stabbed the man over and over.

I wiped my tears off of my cheeks, still sitting in the corner, not moving.

Glenn ran in the room, kneeling down beside me.

"My arm's losing too much blood." I mumbled.

"Gauze?" Glenn asked.

"That and some kind of antiseptic." I replied.

He nodded, running back out into the store.

Shane turned around, blood all over him.

"Go out in my truck and get a shirt out of the backseat." Shane ordered Glenn.

"Where's your truck?" Glenn asked.

"The back." Shane answered.

Glenn handed Shane the gauze and antiseptic before running back out.

Shane kneeled down in front of me, grabbing my arm and putting the cream on the wound before wrapping my arm up in gauze.

"I couldn't get in." Shane stated, still fuming mad.

"I know." I mumbled.

"I'm sorry I couldn't get in." He replied.

I shrugged my shoulders in response, wiping the last tear off my cheek.

"Did he rape your girlfriend too?" I asked.

"No. She did it on her own free will." Shane answered, his eyebrows furrowed.

Glenn ran back in, a black shirt in his hand.

Shane took it from his hand and pulled it over my head.

I poked my arms through the sleeves, and then tried to stand up before I stumbled into Glenn.

"Go get the car." Shane ordered Glenn.

Glenn ran out and Shane lifted me into his arms.

I rested my head on his chest as he took me outside.

"Are you coming back with us?" Glenn asked as Shane put me in the car.

"No, it's better if I don't." Shane replied.

I slouched down in my seat, getting comfortable while Glenn talked to Shane.

"She needs you, Shane." I heard Glenn say before getting in the car.

"Where are y'all? I'll try to stop by tomorrow." He replied.

"Prison, five miles from here." Glenn answered.

"Make sure she gets rest." Shane told Glenn before he started the car up.

--

"Do you need anything?" Beth asked, walking into my cell.

"No." I mumbled, my back facing her.

"Oh.. Well if you need anything just let me know." She replied.

I hated that I was pushing everyone away, but I didn't mean to.

I needed space.

-

"Someone's here to see you." Glenn stated, walking into my cell.

"Who?" I asked.

"Shane, but he doesn't want anyone else knowing that he's here." Glenn answered.

I nodded, standing up and following Glenn outside.

"Where is he?" I asked.

"Out here." Glenn replied, leading me out of the gates.

After Glenn lead me to Shane, he walked back to the gates.

"How are you doin'?" Shane asked.

I shrugged my shoulders, the wind blowing my hair around my face.

"Who are they?" Shane asked, pointing to the two men in prison jumpsuits.

"They were already in there, and they're nice guys but there's something weird about them." I answered.

"What's up with his mustache?" Shane inquired.

"I think he thinks he gets the ladies with that." I replied.

"I have all day free to myself and I was wonderin' if ya wanted to come with me somewhere." He stated.

"Where?" I asked.

"Can't tell you that." He answered.

"But what if you're some kind of kidnapper?" I joked.

"You asked that the first time I met you." Shane replied.

"I did?" I asked.

"Yup." He replied.

"I wanna get away from everybody asking me questions, so I really don't care if you kidnap me or not." I replied.

He laughed, opening the passenger side door for me.

"Don't you need to tell everyone where you're goin'?" He asked.

"Hey, Glenn!" I yelled.

I watched as he walked back over to us, crossing his arms.

"She's going with me for a few hours, I promise I'll bring her back." Shane told Glenn.

"How can I trust you?" Glenn asked.

"I'll bring you back some fish." Shane answered.

"Yeah, but will you bring her back?" Glenn inquired.

"I promise." Shane replied.

"Why do I feel like a dad?" Glenn asked, walking away.

I closed the truck door, watching as Shane ran around and got in the driver side.

--

"Where are we?" I asked.

"Cave Springs." He answered.

I walked behind Shane, admiring the clear pond, and the beautiful flowers that were draped across hillside.

I watched as he spread a blanket out on the ground, and held a picnic basket in his hand.

I sat down in front of him, remembering this is how we had our first two dates.

The first one didn't work out too well because I got sick, but we started over and went when I got better.

He brought me up on a mountain, we talked and laughed all day, and then we watched the sunset.

"So what's been going on the past months?" He asked, handing me a plate.

"Trying to survive." I answered.

"Besides that." He replied.

"Well, we were on the road most of the time, and then we found the prison. Hershel got bit and we had to amputate his leg from the knee down, Lori's about to pop, Carl's gotten so tall, Glenn and Maggie are together, and we're all just taking one day at a time." I explained.

"I hope you know I'm not the Shane that hit you, or any of that." He replied.

"What's in the past is in the past, right?" I asked.

He nodded.

"Wouldn't your girlfriend get mad if she knew you took another girl to a beautiful spot and spent the entire day together?" I inquired.

"We're over." He replied.

"Oh. I'm sorry." I apologized.

"I'm not." He replied.

-

"Thanks for getting my mind off of everything." I told Shane.

"Just because we're in different groups doesn't mean we can't hang out." He replied.

"Are you sure you don't wanna come in and see everyone?" I asked.

"I'm sure." He replied.

I nodded, getting out of the truck.

"Hey, Sam," Shane stated, stopping me from closing the door.

"Yeah?" I replied.

"Did you really love me?" He inquired.

"More than anything." I replied.

"I'm sorry I hurt you like I did. You didn't deserve that." He replied.

"Forget about it, Shane." I replied.

"Is it possible to fall out of love with someone?" He inquired.

"Yeah, I guess." I replied.

"Well, I wouldn't know." He replied.

"Night." I replied, shutting the door.
