A tense moment lingered in the bar after Iris left but the mercenaries soon followed jade into the hotel bar.
The offer was tempting enough to provide Iris with a variety of skill sets. One offer the other she assessed each and weighed his fortes and price demanded.
Withing a few hours, Iris had already selected her team of five. Two vampires, Dray and Alfred; a dragon shifter, Ronaldo or Ron for short; a witch, Rebecca; and a demon, Dante; were settled into the narrow booth in the dining hall waiting for Jade to make her appearance.
The Raven haired woman sauntered rather sexily into the hall, the attention of most patrons focused on the subtle sway of her hips. The team sat in anticipation, some more eager than others to embark on their time restricted missions.
The heavily tattooed Iris pulled a chair and set it across from all five members of her team.
"Now, let's get straight to business. There's a few items I need you to acquire. Some will put you in danger as I've already explained. Some will require a bit of persuasion on your end but whatever your task is, we're on a tight schedule." She looked at each of them in turn, locking her eyes to each of theirs. Some showed enthusiasm while others a total indifference. You could see the effect of their chosen careers through the scars that marred soul and skin.
" I'll be assigning tasks depending on individual skill requirements and the nature of the object you're supposed to obtain. Is everything clear?" Iris explained the need to know details individually to each of them, now she'd pair them up and set them off
Nods and furrowed eyebrows spread around the table but none of the five spoke up.
"Very well. Rebecca, the black market in Tokyo is renowned to sell some of the rarest plants and poisons known to civilization, given your particular skill set, I need you to acquire some Burgmansia Poison. It's essential to me and I entrust that you'll be very discreet"
She reached into the bag draped over the back of her chair and pulled out a roll of bills, an easy fifteen thousand in cash and handed it to the blonde woman
"This should cover the travel expenses and the price of two pure vials of the plant extract" Becca nodded lifting up her cloak to cover her honey blonde hair before excusing herself from the meeting.
Iris flashed a charming yet cold smile at the retreating form of the witch, she'd already stressed the importance of swift and effective action as well as the need to be very discrete.
The Demon she'd recruited was the son of the Demon King of the Sixth Realm, the royal blooded demon was powerful enough to get a sample of Bashaa or Sekhemet's blood. Just a vial or two. She asked one of the vampires to tag along without interfering if it wasn't necessary. Their task was simple subdue and withdraw.
Alfred had the simplest task of the five. Procure blood from several blood banks. This didn't require so much a specific set of skills rather than a specific set of connections, which apparently Alfred had. With that he was off leaving Jade sitting across from the Dragon shifter who wore a permanent scowl.
"Your journey to Piz Badile shouldn't be much of a problem but phoenixes are known to put up quite the fight. I trust you'll get the results I expect. Do it in a timely fashion and I'll pay you twice over of what we agreed on" Ronaldo arched an eyebrow at the proposal but nodded nonetheless. It's good money so he wouldn't mind putting a rush on that order.
As the last mercenary left the booth, the Raven haired vampire took a seat on the padded red leather bench of the booth just as a waitress came up to her with a dazzling smile
The rather short girl was only about 5'3" with shoulder length black hair falling in waves around her face, strands of blue and purple intermixed with her Raven locks. Shapely eyebrows framed stunning olive eyes and a thin nose. Plump Pink kissable lips revealing pearly whites. Iris shook the tempting thoughts away, she couldn't be thinking about kissable lips when Gabriel's life was on the line; the council had appointed the execution a week from the night of the super moon . He was her mate, she shouldn't be thinking about anyone else period.
The dazzling waitress came to a stop avfew feet away from the vampire "can I get you anything to drink gorgeous? Now that he scary looking posse of yours wandered out I mean" she ginned broadly, locking eyes with the tattooed vampire
Iris considered the offer, she could only wait now as her "posse", as the waitress called them, brought back the stuff she needed. Her dark orbs kept flashing down to the waitress's lips but very time Jade would internally scold herself. The waitress who had been standing there for a minute now had taken notice and half-smirked at the vampire seductively
" I'm Anna Lee, and I'll be tending to your needs tonight, whatever they may be" the black and blue haired woman purred, a suggestive glint in her eyes.
Jade sighed, the night was going to be a long one but there was nothing she could do.
"Jack Daniels on the rocks" the vampire replied and hesitated "and maybe some company when you're off?"
Iris bit her lip cursing internally, why had she asked that? She shook her head lightly while closing her eyes. This was trouble, she could feel it. Anna had walked away to get the vampire her drink.
Iris leaned her head back and isolated herself from the world, she mentally reached out to Gabriel. She could feel the familiar tingle of their bond at the back of her eyes and at the tip of her fingers. Bonds were unique between lovers, sometimes as strong as allowing them to feel each others emotions and sync their thoughts. Very few couples couldn't reach that epitome. Unfortunately Iris and Gabriel hadn't achieved that just yet, so they relied on their basic bond.
She knew Gabriel was still unscathed and healthy but his need for blood was growing to the point of an almost frenzy. They were starving him, weakening his resolve and by the end of their cruel treatment he would be too weak to fight them off when they came for him.
She sighed, choking back tears of frustration just as a glass was set on the table in front of her
"Wanna talk about what's bothering you? I'm a great listener" Lee offered as she squeezed in next to the Raven haired vampire, close enough for their arms to brush, close enough to make Iris gulp with difficulty

Breakfast at four in the morning with a gorgeous redhead, whom she'd been making out with not even an hour earlier, proved to be quite the difficult task. Asha's wandering lips and lithe tongue left the blonde breathless and uncomfortable in her own skin.
Asha kept glancing at Alex every few minutes, the heavy scent of arousal that was suspended in the air was driving her nearly insane. Her finely tuned predetorial senses were overwhelmed by the smell. Asha almost would have felt smug if it weren't for her raging hormones, the constant reminder that she was just as turned on as Alex.
Clattering of forks and knives filled the silence as both of them are quietly, as if waiting for the other to take initiative and start a conversation. Alexandra, as if feeling Asha watching her, gazed up only to be !et with sparkling green gems
"So...uhm, tell me about yourself?" The blonde said then smiled almost too awkwardly
Asha smiled and set her fork down "there isn't much to tell really" she answered but both of them knew it was a blatant lie.
With a polite smile Asha excused herself from the table and into the hall leaving Alex to finish off her food.
The phone rang once, then twice and thrice; by the third ring Amira answered
"Everything okay Ash?"
"Yeah everything's fine, is the team in place?" She spoke, her voice barely above a whisper as to not alert the mortal in the next room
"For the twentieth time since you asked ten minutes ago. Yes the team is in place, yes we are being careful, yes we are giving you the privacy you need and no nothing seems suspicious" Amira answered with slight annoyance showing in her tone of voice
"Jeez princess, when did you get so pissy?" Asha tried to lighten the mood, she could literally feel Amira rolling her eyes on the other end of the line
"Right about the time you started to get obsessive and asking the same damned question repeatedly" the dark haired Arabian beauty chuckled
( I momentarily got distracted by step up all in XD and by momentarily I mean the whole film XD DAYUUUM that fire finale! And Andy? Can I take a moment to fangirl over her? Aaaahhahhh dmdiemcndospdnw!apxmc she's gorgeous! )
Asha shook her head and smiled "keep me in the loop guys" with that, the redhead hung up and turned to head back into the kitchen just as Alex came out. The blonde stood against the doorframe and smiled
"Your friend again?" She spoke with an amused smile on her face
"Yeah she's just a massive cockblock and a perv" Asha chuckled as Alexandra arched a brow " no really though she's an amazing friend and colleague"
"You two seem really close" Alex noted as she made her way towards the living room!, picking up her current novel on the way
As they both Sat down on opposite ends of the couch Asha eyednthe book whilst trying to contain her smirk
"Nice bookmark" she noted the red velvet design of the card sticking out from between the pages. She'd recognize that pattern anywhere. It was her business card afterall, and the design she'd hand drawn
Alex's brows furrowed as she looked at the card wedged in her book. The black and red velvety fabric seems familiar somehow, she pulled it out and turned it in her hand, the Club V logo on one side of the card made a light go off in her head, the card with the fifty dollar tip from a few weeks back. She turned the card over and squinted at the words, Alex looked up from the card and around the room but she couldn't find her glasse. She didn't bother looking any further instead redirecting her attention to the cardnas she read out loud
"Asha DeLacroix. Club V Owner/Manager. Delacroix Enterprises Inc." Alexandra didn't bother reading the rest of the info on the card. She looked up at the redhead who was smiling mischievously
"Now we know how you found out where the club was, you know what they say, Curiosity killed the cat" Asha chuckled humorously then resumed "now what I wanna know is how you got my business card?" She arched her brow seductively at the blonde who all of a sudden was feeling rather uncomfortable at the proximity between the two of them.
Alex's eyes were darting between Asha's kryptonite jewels and her kissable lips frantically
"Someone left it on the table with a 50$ tip for me the night I went to the club" Alexandra stuttered, getting more frustrated as the redhead's tongue came to sweep across a plump lower lip.
The vampire elder leaned back into the couch looking at Alexa while she toyed with the button of her shirt tauntingly "hm, you're a very curious cat indeed Miss Stone, I wonder what else you're curious about" Asha arched a finely sculpted eyebrow, matched with the devious smirk of hers, it was a deadly combination that pushed Alex off the edge of her inhibitions.
In one swift move that was almost in slow motion for the vampire, Alexandra had straddled her lap as they both sat on the sofa and leaned ever so audaciously forward capturing Asha's lips with her own.
With a knee on either side of the redhead's hips, Alexa had her pinned in place. The intertwined their fingers together and brought Asha's arms up and behind her head; the kiss evolving from a slow passionate dance to a scorching inferno.
The blonde barista pressed her torso flush against her counterpart, the fabric of their clothes the only barrier between their heated flesh. Her kisses trailing down an angular jaw made the redhead breath out a moan.
The clear sign of approval emboldened the blonde, trailing her hands down a slim torso towards the hem of the vampire's shirt, lifting it slightly. Asha tried desperately to move away or create just enough distance between them to form a coherent thought but her body was resisting her mind to the fullest extent of its will.
As Alex's alabaster hands began to slide against tanned skin, Asha pulled her head away from tantalizing kisses and exhaled "Alexandra, are you sure you wanna do this?"
The blonde looked hesitant, if she'd stop to think about it, she'd pull away completely and scold herself. She couldn't keep her hands off the redhead and at this pace, they're bound to do something stupid and irrational and immensely satisfying and so amazing it would leave her body humming in ecstacy.
The more Alex thought about it the more the pros outweighed the cons. The more she thought about it, the more she craved the vanilla and honey taste of Asha's lips and her exotic fruit scent to envelop her. But she couldn't...wouldn't...won't do this. No matter how tempting it was.
