I growled causing everyone to freeze, then charging away from the people examining me, I barreled into the people on my mate, knocking them over. People gave me shocked stares, eyes wide and mouths open as I stood in a protective stance over my mate, growling at anyone who dared to come closer.
He was injured, I cant believe my own pack hurt my mate. My wolf snarled at them as they tried to inch closer. Anger clouded my judgement, and I snapped at a small wolf trying to come up close to me to heal my wounds. No one would hurt my mate, I am Alpha here.
I was so blinded by my own rage I barely even noticed my father enter the bright green field, that was now stained with Xavier's blood. My father's eyes had glazed over meaning he was linking privately with other pack members, otherwise it would be heard by all over the common link, of course my walls were up so even if he did say it in the common link I wouldn't have heard him.
I as far too busy snarling and snapping at my pack members to really notice or care what he was talking about, and that was my biggest mistake.
I felt a set of claws digging into my back and a wolf jumped on top of me, coming from the rear and taking me by surprise. We tumbled a couple dozen feet away from my mate as we began snapping and snarling at one another as the wolf tried to take me on.
This was a behavior that would not be tolerated by my inner wolf or I, in one quick move I'd twisted around and grabbed his throat in my mouth and tearing him off my back. When he hit the ground, he immediately submitted to his Alpha. I looked up and three more wolves were charging me, but all I could see was what was going on behind them.
Two pack members held Xavier down as my father slowly stalked towards his red form.
In that moment, something deep within me was activated. Something primal. I moved with the grace of the wind that flowed through the trees and the speed of a lightning strike. I struck down every wolf in between my mate and I with a new strength I had never known before. Id knocked down every wolf in my way until I was once again standing over Xavier , crouched even lower so the hairs on my chest and belly grazed his side, as I stared into the eyes of my father. I could feel all the other wolves pounding on the walls of my mind, the strongest being my father as he continuously stared me down.
I decided to do something extremely risky; I shifted. As my claws and hair retracted, I was left crouched over Xavier's body, stark nude, and I could tell everyone was watching me, especially Xavier. I stood, keeping a firm stance over Xavier, not caring about appearances as my long red hair was draped down over my shoulders, covering my breasts and my fresh mark.
"YOU WILL NOT TOUCH HIM!" I shouted over the field as I felt the submission radiating from the wolfs forms that recognized me as Alpha, but few still stood firm against me. I felt the presence of Cam, Alex and Sam enter the field and run up behind me getting into a fighting stance. Cam took off his large shirt and handed it to me as I gratefully took it, pulling it over my small body as quickly as possible. They stood firm behind me, and although Sam still wasn't used to the idea of not hating pales, even protecting one, I knew he would be loyal to me, even if that meant standing up against our pack. I knew they all would be loyal to me.
"STAND DOWN SYDNEY!" father shouted back at me, getting closer til his face was in mine, where he whispered, "no daughter of mine will be a Pale Moon sympathizer, he must be killed, immediately!" Xavier flinched, I knew he felt the urge to get and fight but he was greatly wounded from my packs attack, he was outnumbered, he couldn't have done anything. I glanced down at his figure without turning away from my father. He was short of breath and bleeding still, father must have had some wolves put on silver claws. We locked eyes for a moment, and I knew what I had to do to protect him.
"He is my mate." I said low enough so only my father would hear.
His eyes grew wide and then pleading, "No, it- NO! It can't be!" he exclaimed quietly to himself.
I flicked the hair covering my fresh mark back so it would be visible to everyone, "You, nor anyone will touch him." I stated, Xavier's safety wasn't up for negotiation.
"TRAITOR!"
Everyone in the field froze as my head snapped to the voice who had cried out the word which would lead to his damnation.
Micheal.
He walked towards me with an accusing glare and came to stand in front of me. "You traitorous bitch, I knew there was something going on with you. No wonder you were bullied, those girls saw who you really were! A good-for-nothing she-wolf! You may have been born into the Alpha family but you don't deserve the title!"
"Bold words for someone who couldn't stand a chance against me in battle. You're all bark and no bite." I reputed with a sneer on my face.
"You aren't fit to rule this pack, or any other pack!" Micheal declared while pointing an accusing finger towards me. "Alpha!" He turned to my father who had remained silent, lost in his own thoughts, "your daughter can not rule our pack justly, and you are to shocked by this betrayal to fully fight her, give me control of the pack so I may protect it from her treachery!"
I stood there, aghast, and was even more shocked when I saw my fathers eyes flicker, contemplating the idea. I look at him pleadingly, begging him to see reason with my eyes, "father no! You can't consider this!? This is treason against your Alpha!" My eyes raked across the dozens of wolves in the fields, looking for someone, anyone to help my father see reason.
Micheal took a step towards my father an clamped his hand over his shoulder, bringing my fathers gaze up to his, "Alpha, you must give the position to me, for the good of the pack." My father took a deep breath, before clamping his hands on Micheal's shoulders.
"NO!" I boomed across the field. I wanted to lung at Micheal and rip out his throat for his treason, but i knew as soon as I moved, so would everyone else. The only thing keeping Xavier safe was my body standing protectively over him.
"I, Alpha Andrew Jim Harrison, hereby relinquish my title to Beta Micheal Jay Prescott," I felt a shift within the pack connection as the Alpha title transferred from my father to Micheal. When the transfer was complete, my father hands feel to his sides, and he began his slow, defeated walk off the field towards home.
"Ha! Now I'M the ALPHA, which mean you have to listen to me Stephanie!" A low guttural growl escaped me as he continued to speak blasphemy. "Listen Steph, if you submit to me now, I'll go easy on you, you could be an omega, and if you prove yourself worthy, maybe I'll even make you my Luna." My growls were so loud the now reverberated off the trees. Everyone in that field knew I wasn't about to submit to him. Micheal continued to ramble on as I mind-linked my friends to guarentee the safety of them and my mate.
"Sam, Alex," I hesitated a moment, since Xavier marked me I should be able to mind-link Cameron too, "Cam, as soon as I move away from Xavier, I want you all to grab him and take him as far away from here as possible. Get him back to his pack and make sure he gets medical attention and stays alive. Do whatever you have to to stay safe, all of you. I'll cover your escape the best I can."
"I wont leave without you Syd, we are in this together." Alex replied quickly.
"You have to and you will. Just get to safety as quickly as possible. Use the print I gave you if you have too, just get to somewhere safe."
"No I wo-"
"That's an order from your Alpha!"
Now, how to keep my pack members away from them as they escape and not kill them, they are still my pack members after all. Micheal however I would be delighted to kill. However, my thoughts were cut short when I caught on to the next thing Micheal said.
"and maybe I'll give that piece of filth under you a peaceful death if you submit to me, right now."
I immediately shifted into my wolf and growled at him. It echoed across the field as birds squawked and in a frenzy tried to fly away. I got into a fighting stance and moved off Xavier.
"Go. Now."
It happened at a moments notice but I was too enraged to be beaten. Sam and Alex grabbed Xavier who had passed out a while ago from the blood loss, while Cameron shifted into his wolf, the threw Xavier on Cam's back and dashed away using their werewolf speed. Micheal growled at the escaped attempt and motioned for the other wolves to pursue and attack. I rammed into them as they approached, knocking them down one by one, being sure to use enough force to break a few bones and send them back towards their new "alpha". This continued on, while my pack mates where just following orders, I had the determination to keep my mate safe and that drove me to the power I had in that moment. I kept at it for what felt like forever although it was probably no more than 10 minutes, before I was shot in the shoulder with a silver bullet. My wolf whined at the new injury we had sustained, but it also drove her anger to grow even more as her eyes snapped up to the treacherous new alpha welding a silver rifle, aimed directly at us. The shot disabled half of the power we had to knock down the other wolves, and because of this weakness, we were subdued withing a few more minutes and 10 wolves to top of me. I was forced to shift back into my human form, although only two of the ten wolves let go of me, even weakened by the shot I was still full of rage. There were three men holding each of my arms, and I felt two hands gripping my hair tight in their fists. I was dragged forward towards Micheal then my head was yanked back so I could look up at this so called leader.
"I take it you don't submit to me then?" He questioned, my reply was his definite answer for how I felt about him regarding all things. I spat in his face before being yanked backwards by all the men holding me in place. He wiped it off his face with disgust then looked at me, "You'll pay for that with your life." He then looked at some of the other men around, "Send two scouts to follow them, I wanna know where they are at all times." The men ran off to carry out his order, before he began to address the men holding me down. "Put her in the silver collar and bind her hands behind her with the ropes dipped in wolfsbane. Then put her in the cell in sector 6."
"Sir, is that really necessary?" one of the men asked, I recognized him as a pack warrior who always followed my fathers orders diligently, I'd never heard him question a "superior" like this before.
Micheal turned towards him menacingly, "I am the ALPHA! I will decide what is necessary!" he shouted at the man before storming off.
Another man approached me with what we only used on the most dangerous and hostile rogues. A pure silver collar, with many hooks and loops for chains and ropes to be attacked to keep you farther than arms length from any person at all time. With three people you could keep the person in the exact middle of the three and prevent them from attacking anyone or anything without changing cutting through there artery or cutting off their own head. Mine happened to have 6 chains attached to it, to keep me contained within the small group of men.
The smell of burning flesh filled the air as they latched the silver necklace around my neck snugly and bound my arms behind my back tightly as the ropes grazed my back and butt since I was still naked from my shift back.
I wasn't even worth clothes to cover my body with, but I didn't care, my mate was far away from here. Far away from seeing me in this degraded state, far away from the danger from my pack, but probably too far away to ever get to see me again, alive.
I know, I haven't updated with a new chapter in forever.
I'll try to update as much as I can this summer I promise! I'm busier than I've ever been and only getting busier as school approaches once again. Hope your enjoying the story!
