It wasn't the fact that he was trapped in a room full of his loved one's silhouettes that made him panic.
Okay, maybe it was one of the reasons why, but it wasn't the main reason.
It was the fact that the silhouettes kept tormenting him a way that he could almost never imagine.
They tormented him using their deaths in every season.
They tormented him by telling him that he was never good enough.
Never brave enough.
Never strong enough.
Never a good enough friend.
Never better, always worse.
"You killed me! You killed Impulse! You're such a bad friend."

Even the 'death tormenting method' hurt him in so many ways.
Seeing the bodies of them surrounding him, blood on all of their silhouettes.
Like the slash on Impulse's chest.
Like the burns on Scott's legs.
Like the wounds and ripped wings on Jimmy.
Like the arrows still sticking out of Ren's chest.
Every time he came here, they all appeared.
They liked to torment him, they do.
They just love to see the panic and pain on his face.
"You're a pathetic friend, Martyn."
They plunged a dagger into Martyn's heart, and he died.
That was the only ending to this never-ending nightmare.
