Wriothesley's POV
So...
What should and shouldn't I say to Neuvillette?
I should probably leave out the part where he trying to strip to test my patience, right?
I should tell him about showing me where the gun was in case he wants to put it somewhere else.
The call with the Tsaritsa should be mentioned too since he will just notice it in his call logs anyway.
And the nightmare...
Yeah, let's leave that for last.
I looked up to the more and more impatient Neuvillette on the other side of the bed.
Well, at least he buttoned up his shirt.
"Will you tell me what I've done or not?" He grumbled.
Cute.
"For starters, you showed me where you keep your gun in the kitchen." I started this very difficult conversation.
"Oh."
Oh?
That's it?
"You might want to move it." I added.
"Why would I?" Neuvillette asked, looking incredibly confused.
"Because it could be dangerous for you if I suddenly wanted to shoot you or something-"
"Do you?"
"No, I don't. Why would I? I just-"
"Then it's fine, no?" He asked blankly.
...
Sigh...
I give up.
So unnecessarily stubborn.
"Anything else that happened?"
"The Tsaritsa called and asked to talk to me. On that note, please refrain from mentioning to her that I didn't manage to get you to eat or she might have me killed."
To this, Neuvillette frowned. He actually seemed to look incredibly offended.
"She is not that cruel. At most, she would have your house trashed, but since you are living with me you don't need to fear that."
He seemed really sure of himself as he said that but I was still somewhat doubtful.
Rightfully so too. She is the leader of the Fatui for god's sake. They aren't known to be the nicest bunch.
Well, as long as Neuvillette is happy. No need to push it.
So I went right back to the original topic.
"After the call, you asked for a hug and later demanded I bring you to bed because you were tired, but you wouldn't let me go throughout all of this. So I carried you upstairs and was just going to leave you here to sleep, but you said I should sleep as well, here, in your bed, and when I denied the offer you started crying. Eventually, I gave in and just lay down on the opposite edge of the bed. You even built a pillow wall before falling asleep."
That last part still has me amused.
It was incredibly cute,
But I couldn't laugh.
I couldn't even smile sightly.
Definitely not when Neuvillette looked like he would kill me before the Tsaritsa ever has a chance to should I show any other reaction aside from a serious blank face.
No matter how hard he tried to stop it, his face turned an even deeper shade of red and he turned away from me.
Hmm...
Maybe like this, I can avoid talking about the-
"That does not explain how I ended up lying on your chest with your arms around me." He asked bluntly.
He was still blushing, but Neuvillette looked determined to find out the reason for his sleeping position.
Damn it...
I was trying to avoid this.
"So... You had a nightmare... I woke you up and-"
My words were interrupted when Neuvillette suddenly grabbed my face and turned it left and right with a serious look.
"N-Neuvillette?"
What was he doing?
He was...
He was way too close!
Our lips were almost touching!
"What are you-"
"Are you injured anywhere? Have I hurt you?"
Oh.
Did he think...
"No, no, no. Nothing like that. You-"
As I spoke his attention traveled down my body till his eyes locked in on my hands.
Ah... Fu-
They were covered in blood.
His blood, but in the current situation it was certainly misleading.
"I'm-"
"It's your blood." I cut him off quickly.
And for the nth time, I couldn't help but curse internally at my inability to put things just a bit more gently.
Now Neuvillette looked even more bewildered.
So I reached down and gently took his hands, opening them to reveal the two sets of small wounds he apparently had yet to notice.
"Oh."
Again.
That reaction.
"That's okay then." He let out a breath of relief.
"That's not okay!" I snapped back.
It came out harsher than I had meant for it to and that became all the more clear from Neuvillette's shocked expression.
"I'm sorry. I didn't mean to snap at you. I just can't agree with you being relieved about hurting yourself instead of hurting me. And no, by that I don't mean you should hurt me instead. What I mean is that it's not okay for you to get hurt either."
"Sorry..." He muttered, looking incredibly dejected.
I pulled him into a hug without thinking, only realizing what I had done when he stiffened up.
"Oh, I-"
"It's fine." Neuvillette cut me off.
And then I felt his arms around me as he scooted closer.
"This is nice. I'm guessing it is because of a similar situation that I ended up sleeping in your arms."
"Yeah..."
I think I should leave out the part where he asked for it to spare the little sanity he has left this morning.
To my relief, Neuvillette didn't touch the subject of the nightmare further and instead just decided to stay like this, nuzzling his face into the crook of my neck.
This is nice and all but...
My stomach growled loudly, expressing its dissatisfaction with my lack of dinner.
Funnily enough, Neuvillette's stomach followed suit.
...
The situation suddenly became really awkward.
"I- I'll-"
"I'll go make breakfast." I cut him off.
"But-"
"No, but. You are in bigger need of a change of clothes and a shower than me. You go do that while I throw something together for us for breakfast, okay?" I grinned.
In that same instant, his whole face went blank for a second before a flush of shame flooded his cheeks.
Huh?
Why?
What now?
Did I say something-
Oh.
Oh...
"Neuvillette, I didn't mean that you-"
"Out."
"I just meant that neither of us showered yesterday and-"
"Get out." He repeated.
And I was out the door before I even realized it.
Damn, that tone was scary!
I should really watch what I say unless I want to be banished to the couch or something.
...
What the hell am I thinking?!
Wriothesley, what's wrong with you?!
You have your own room! Your own bed!
Why do you care if Neuvillette kicks you out of his?
You shouldn't have been there in the first place!
This was a one-time thing, yeah?
I'm going insane...
Breakfast.
Yeah, let's go make breakfast.
That should take my mind off nonsense.
And while Neuvillette is eating I'll go take a shower.
A very, very cold shower.
In the meantime, I'll try to figure out a way not to screw myself over any more than I already have during the rest of the day.
Surely that will work out.
...
.......
...........
Who am I kidding?
I'm screwed.
Staying alone with Neuvillette for a day?
I must have still been asleep when I decided that that was a good idea.
This is what you would call shooting yourself in the foot.
