Wriothesley's POV
I fell asleep too at some point.
While the situation that led to this wasn't the best one, waking up with Neuvillette in my arms certainly isn't the worst feeling.
What time is it now anyway? The only thing I know is that it's still dark out but that can be anywhere from 6 pm and 6 am this time of the year so that doesn't help much.
After some looking around I discovered a small clock on the nightstand.
What the hell?
When was the last time I slept so much?
We came upstairs around 5:30 pm and it was now 6:26 am.
So...
A bit of a problem here.
I work from 8 am.
I need about half an hour to get to work from here.
So now I can only hope Neuvillette wakes up within the next half an hour or I might have to wake him up.
That or sneak out, which seemed both impossible because of our current position and a bad idea considering Neuvillette's last words yesterday before he fell asleep.
Now I can only hope Neuvillette wakes up by himself cause getting woken up by someone else is seriously annoying.
Hmm...
Should I just call in sick or take a personal day?
I never call in sick so they would understand if I missed a day, right?
After what happened yesterday I didn't feel like leaving Neuvillette alone.
Just as I was thinking this a piercing sound suddenly shot through the room.
My phone vibrating on the nightstand should not have been this loud damn it!
At least it was just a message and not a call. Maybe I can get away with it without waking up Neuvillette.
Slowly, so I wouldn't move more than necessary, I reached over and grabbed my phone to see just who it was that was messaging me at such a godforsaken hour.
Clorinde.
Damn it!
Did something happen?!
Was Sigewinne okay?!
Why was she messaging me this early?!
No.
If something were wrong she would have called.
If something had happened to Sigewinne she would have called and called again till I picked up.
With that in mind, I still opened my phone full of panic.
-I got a call from Furina saying you might want to take a personal day and I should tell Chief Louis cause you might be otherwise occupied and unable to. Should I tell the Chief or is she just talking nonsense again?
???
What?
Furina told her what?
??????
Sure, that was my intention, but how would she know?
Besides, why the hell are these two up at 6:30 in the morning talking about this?!
But this does give me a chance to take the day off without waking up Neuvillette.
So I wrote her back, albeit a bit salty for scaring me half to death just now.
Good morning to you too, Clorinde-
-It is not, I can assure you. I prefer not getting out of bed till Navia literally drags me out around 7:15. But now here I am, up and awake, thanks to you having had too much fun with a certain pretty lawyer last night and not wanting to go to work. Good for you!
Excuse me?-
-Don't play dumb. Furina already sold you out. Tsk. Tsk. Good job, Wriothesley. Quite the catch you got there.
Before I could think of a proper retort- no, any retort really, she followed up with another message.
-Should we keep this little angel of a daughter of yours for another day so you two can have some more fun or will you be picking her up from school yourself?
...
ARGH!
Clorinde thinks I slept with Neuvillette!
Furina also thinks I slept with Neuvillette!
Who the hell caused this goddamn mess for me?!
Why are these two so sure that we-
Ugh!
But Clorinde didn't spare me.
-You've gone awfully quiet. Did I perhaps awaken the sleeping beauty in your arms? That shouldn't be. Doesn't Sleeping Beauty need a kiss to wake up? Are you up to no good while we're texting, Wriothesley?
Oh, my god!
What the hell are you imagining?!?!-
-Nothing too wild. Just you sleeping with my boss. This is Navia BTW. Good morning!
Good go she's awake as well?!
And watching this unfold?!
I did not sleep with Neuvillette!-
-Then why don't you take a selfie for us to see? If there is no white-haired beauty in your arms we'll believe you.
I could pretty much hear the two of them snickering.
And...
Looking down at the peacefully sleeping Neuvillette...
I couldn't exactly send them a picture, now could I?
So the only thing I managed to type back was:
F*ck you-
-Oh no, no, Wriothesley. That's my job. This is Navia again BTW.
...
I give up.
If I continue chatting with these two I'll go insane.
Clorinde, please tell the Chief that I won't be in today. No, you don't have to pick Sigewinne up from school. I'll do it. Please tell her that I love her lots and I'll call her during her first break. And for the love of god, I did not sleep with Neuvillette!-
-Yeah, and you also don't like tea anymore, right? I'll make sure to give your message to Sigewinne and to Chief Louis. You can go back to cuddling with your newfound boyfriend now.
-Bye-bye!
I couldn't even be bothered to reply after that one. I just tossed my phone back on the nightstand and turned away from it.
Annoying couple.
Tease each other if you want to tease someone!
Knowing that I won't have to bother getting out of bed anytime soon I was ready to go back to my peaceful, lazy morning with-
I don't want to agree with Clorinde here, but sleeping beauty does fit Neuvillette quite well at the moment.
But it appears our texting created just a bit too much ruckus and Neuvillette stirred from his sleep.
He hummed softly, his eyes opening for just a quick moment before closing again. He wriggled slightly to find a better position till a content smile graced his lips and he seemingly went back to sleep.
Wow...
Really... Very pretty...
Should I just ask him out on a date?
Sigewinne would obviously not mind if we started dating, but if we didn't...
Well, that could make it incredibly awkward to the point that we are forced to find another place to live.
Not that I wasn't doing that already. We can't just move in with Neuvillette like this.
From what Clorinde let slip, this was supposed to be a one-night thing and it's been almost a week already.
That's not even all of it. Every time I try to bring up the matter of paying rent he manages to change the subject in a way that I don't even realize till much later when it's already too late.
Sometimes I can't help but think that, kind as he is, Neuvillette can't bear to tell us to leave.
At the same time, however, he genuinely enjoys spending time with Sigewinne, little as they manage these days, so I'm not sure what to think.
Oh, well. At least I know he likes how I look.
That's something I guess.
But my looks can't compare to-
Neuvillette's eyes staring right at me?
Huh?!
When did he wake up?
Before I could utter a single word Neuvillette broke the silence.
"I like you..." He whispered, looking incredibly proud of himself as he closed his eyes again.
He woke up for that?
Now he's going back to sleep again?
Well...
Apparently not.
Mere seconds after he closed his eyes his whole body went rigid and sat up at a speed that should have been impossible.
He looked at me in utter shock, his mouth opening a few times wanting to say something but not being able to.
As for me...
My eyes couldn't help but travel down slightly.
Because of his antics with his shit button yesterday, his shirt was now half hanging off of him, exposing one of his shoulders.
After everything that happened yesterday, he looked like a mess and positively disheveled.
Honestly, he would have looked less erotic if he had been naked.
I forced myself to look at his face again instead and by this time he had managed to get himself to say something.
"W-why... Why are you in my bed?" He stuttered.
"What do you mean why? Wasn't it you who-"
Oh, wait.
He said he never remembers what happens after he takes that medicine.
So does he not...
"Do you not remember demanding that I sleep here with you?" I blurted out.
...
Damn it.
I had meant to soften the blow somewhat but of course, I had to spit it out just like that.
And Neuvillette...
He looked shell-shocked as he struggled to say something once more only for him to end up nothing more than a blushing mess.
And I've done it now.
Perhaps I should keep the report on the things he did to a minimum lest he dies of embarrassment.
