"WHAT THE FREAKING HELL?" CAROLINE EXCLAIMED AS SHE SAT on Charlie's bed with the girl. The Lockwood had just explained what had happened with Klaus. After turning her into his second successful hybrid, he had ever so graciously let her go back home.

The girl groaned, falling back on her bed. "I know."

"So, you're a hybrid now?" the blonde girl questioned in disbelief. Charlie was having a hard time believing it as well, but she felt so weird because she felt somehow indebted to Klaus for doing what she wanted least in the world. When the brunette nodded, she continued, "And you're sired to Klaus too?"

"I'm pretty sure," the hybrid answered. She was almost completely sure because before, she had felt this undying hate for Klaus, but now, she could stand him and maybe even like him.

Caroline shot her a pitying look because it must be awful being sired to someone you hate. She quizzed, "How do you feel?"

"I don't know. I hate him for what he did to JJ," the younger girl answered, sitting up in her bed once again so that she could look her best friend in the eyes as she spoke. "I know that I should be really sad and everything, and I think that if this had happened on any normal occasion, I would be..."

"But?"

Charlie felt like screaming because of all of the conflict going on inside her head. She knew taht she should hate Klaus and feel awful about everything that was happening, but she just could not for some reason. "But I can't help but feel grateful toward Klaus. It's all so confusing."

"I hate this so much," the Forbes girl moaned since she did not like the fact that both her best friend and her boyfriend were basically slaves to the person that they were trying to kill, making life all the more difficult for everyone involved.

"I know I would too if I could feel anything but admiration toward him," the Lockwood spat out as she thought about what the man did to her and tried to force herself to hate him. "Can you spread the word, though? I don't really feel like telling and explaining everything to everyone."

"Yeah, of course."

The brunette thought of something last minute before Caroline headed to go help set up lanterns in the town square for yet another event. "And you have to make sure to tell everyone not to tell me about any plan against Klaus or anything. I'm scared that I'm going to end up telling him or something."

The girl had respected her wished until about three hours later, when she called her.

"Hey, wanna come to the old witch house with me and Bonnie and get rid of some ghosts?" she questioned randomly with no rgeeting or no explanation whatsoever. The hybrid was too tired to even try and comprehend what her friend was trying to say.

She furrowed her eyebrows as she sat up in her bed. "What?"

"I don't know," the blonde girl shrugged, and it was clear that she actually had no real clue what was happening. "Apparently all of the people that died in the town are coming back to haunt everyone."

"Caroline..." Charlie warned, reminding her of what she asked that morning. She did not want to be involved with anything that had anything to do with Klaus or something that could benefit or inconvenience Klaus.

She could practically see the blonde girl shake her head. "It has nothing to do with Klaus, and if anything comes up, just bring headphones so that you can blare music."

"Okay, fine."

☾❄☽

CHARLIE TREADED CAREFULLY AS SHE, BONNIE, AND CAROLINE entered the abandoned witch house, the same one that they had gone too when Bonnie brought Jeremy back to life. Ever since that incident, the plan had given the Lockwood girl the creeps. She did not like the idea of thousands of dead witches eavesdropping on whatever they were trying to do there. Luckily, Bonnie assured her that the ghosts were gone.

"So this is where you brought Jeremy back to life?" the Forbes girl questioned as they stepped inside. The blonde was being very hesitant and careful. Charlie remembered that when Damon had set foot in the house, the witches had rendered his daylight ring useless until he got out. They did not take kindly to vampires.

"Yeah," the Bennett girl confirmed. "Sorry, I know it's creepy, but we needed a private place around here to do the spell."

The vampire nodded in understanding as she looked around as if she was expecting someone to pop out at them at any moment. "There's no chance it's haunted by the hundred dead witches who were horrifically burned to death in this very spot, is there?"

"They're not here anymore, and they made it clear they were never coming back," the witch assured her with a small chuckle as she began to get herself settled in the middle of a room.

"Right." Caroline nodded slowly as she took a deep breath. She was still really tense, and Charlie could not blame her because she was as well. She doubted that old and salty witches would like a part-vampire part-werewolf that was sired to Klaus of all people. "You pinkie swear?"

Like most people, the brunette girl was having a hard time getting used to being a vampire. The lights seemed brighter, everything was louder, and everything was just...a lot. It was like a hangover on crack. She was even wearing sunglasses because she could not deal with the sun. She had her headphones in her back pocket just in case the other girls needed to mention something about Klaus or Stefan or Rebekah, but she was not sure how well her tactic would work since she had superhearing. Would it magnify the music or their voices. She had yet to learn.

Bonnie was casting the spell, and all of a sudden, the wind began to pick up in the room. Everything was moving and blowing around and Charlie and Caroline backed up a little bit toward the corners of the room. "Bonnie, I don't like this," the blonde girl exclaimed, but then, someone appeared in front of the Bennett girl, holding her hands.

Charlie's eyes widened in shock when she saw who it was, having not seen the person in almost a year. "Oh, my God. Is that your—"

"Grams," the girl finished, cutting her off. Tears started to well up in Bonnie's eyes as she stared at her grandmother that had been dead ever since the night in the tomb. "I can't believe you're here!"

"Now stop your crying, we don't have time for tears," the woman ordered before turning to the girls standing on the other side of them room. "Nice to see you again, Caroline. You too, Charlie." They looked really scared by the fact that she was there, wondering if there were any other witches still hanging around.

They calmed down at her welcoming smile. "Hi, Miss Sheila."

"A fine mess you've made, honey. The witches told you there'd be consequences to bringing Jeremy back and you did it anyway," Grams reminded the Bennett girl.

Bonnie sighed, remembering what happened, and Charlie recalled the resistance that the witches had put up to bringing the Gilbert boy back to life. She would be eternally grateful for it, though. "I didn't have a choice. I love him and I...I couldn't just let him go."

"I understand, but you cracked open the door to the other side. There's an old witch over here. She took advantage of it. She took advantage of you, honey," the woman explained to her granddaughter, giving them an explanation to how all of these ghosts were passing over to their side and interacting with peple. "When you did that spell to send Vicki Donovan away, she wedged the door wide open, giving a free pass to anybody with unfinished business."

"How do you know this?" Bonnie questioned, wondering how her grandmother was so wise, even after she died.

Grams shrugged with a small smile. "Witches talk. Even on the other side. Who do you think makes all the rules?" Witches did strike Charlie as gossipy, no offense to the witches.

The younger Bennett questioned, "What does the witch want?"

"That's Original vampire business, not yours. I don't want you getting in the middle of that," Sheila informed her, and she shot a look toward the brunette girl who looked down in shame. She knew that she should not be involved with Klaus and all of that, but she could not help that she was sired. "I'm here because you upset the balance of nature, and it's your duty to set it right. You need to close that door."

Once Grams had gone, they went over to the Salvatore Boarding House to look for the necklace that would help them get rid of the ghosts. Caroline got on the phone with Elena about something, and she told Charlie to put her headphones in. Surprisingly enough, her plan worked, and she was vibing to some Bon Jovi while she cleaned and waited for them to talk it out. The blonde girl got off the phone and talked to the witch for a second before gesturing to the hybrid to let her know that she could take the headphones out.

"Elena caught Jeremy kissing Anna," the Forbes girl announced before Charlie even got the chance to ask what was up.

Bonnie and the Lockwood had the same reaction, only the younger girl's part was also because she had no clue hoe Jeremy could be kissing Anna since she was dead, unless they were talking about a different Anna. "What?"

"I'm sorry," Caroline breathed out, and the hybrid pieced together the fact that since a bunch of ghosts were wandering around town, it made a lot of sense for Anna to be one of them.

The Bennett girl's face dropped as her shoulder slumped, staring at the ground in disbelief. " He kissed her?"

"She's got a foothold now, so she probably thinks that she's here to stay," the vampire explained to her, and it was so obvious that she was ready to kill that bitch again, and to be honest, Charlie was too. "But we're going to find that necklace. Okay?"

A little later, Elena called them to inform them that she was pretty sure that Anna had stolen the necklace so that they could not send her back. So, they all hopped in the car. While they drove, Charlie got a text from the younger Gilbert. "Jeremy's got the necklace. He's going to meet us at the witch house."

"Okay. What's going on up there?" the witch questioned when she saw the silhouette of a car off the side of the road. She slowed down, and they gasped when they saw that she car was crashed into the tree. The Lockwood girl's mouth dropped when she saw her mother unconscious in the front seat.

"It's my mom's car," she muttered, and Bonnie slammed on the breaks when the ghost of a tomb vampire walked in front of the car. Other tomb vampires started making their car toward Mrs. Lockwood's car, probably seeking revenge for her burning them alive. "Bonnie? I'm going to get out of the car."

The Bennett girl's eyes widened. "What?"

"I'm going with her, and you're going to drive the hell away from here," Caroline informed the girl, shooting her younger friend a supportive glance that told her that she was going to help.

Bonnie scoffed, "No way! I am not leaving you!" But Charlie was already halfway out of the vehicle.

"Bonnie, you've got your ghost boyfriend drama," the blonde girl said to the driver as she opened the door to follow Charlie. "Elena has hers. And right now the mother of mine is about to be ghost bait. So go and send them all back to the other side, okay?"
