The next day, Eve went to the park to meet the guy who had helped her earlier. She felt nervous as she walked towards him, unsure of what to expect.

"Hi," she said, trying to sound casual.

"Hey," he replied, smiling. "I'm glad you could make it."

He handed her a bag of clothes. "Here are your clothes. I washed them for you."

Eve felt a sense of relief as she took the bag from him. "Thank you so much. I really appreciate it."

They stood there in silence for a moment, unsure of what to say. Finally, the guy spoke up.

"I'm sorry if I scared you last night. I didn't mean to. I just wanted to make sure you got home safely."

Eve looked at him, surprised at his words. "Thank you for helping me. I was really scared, but you made me feel safe."

As they were about to part ways, Eve's stomach growled loudly, reminding her that she had skipped breakfast that morning. The guy noticed and asked, "Are you hungry? Would you like to grab something to eat?"

Eve hesitated for a moment, unsure of what to do. She didn't want to impose on him, but she was also very hungry. She decided to accept his offer.

"Uhh...yeah..," she said, smiling.

The guy led her to a nearby food stall and they ordered some local street food. They sat down at a small table and began to eat.

As they ate, they chatted about their lives and interests. Eve found herself enjoying his company and feeling grateful for the unexpected meal.

After they finished eating, the guy walked Eve back to her apartment.

"By the way,my name is Dexter Wellington, you can call me Dex."

"It's nice to meet you, Dex," Eve said, smiling.

"It's nice to meet you too, Eve," Dex replied." Then Dexter said "Do you live alone in an apartment?" he asked.

Eve nodded. "Yeah, I do."

"Woah..You are very brave to live alone even though you are a girl." Dex said. "But how do you manage to afford it? The rent must be pretty high."

Eve sighed. "Hehe..Uhmm..It's tough. I'm still trying to find part-time work to help with the costs."

Dex thought for a moment before speaking up. "Actually, I have an idea. I run a small library nearby, and I'm looking for someone to help me out a few days a week. Would you be interested?"

Eve's eyes widened. "Really? That sounds amazing! Thank you so much, Dex."

Dex smiled. "Of course. It's not a lot, but it should help with the rent and give you some extra income."

As Eve expressed her gratitude, she suddenly felt overwhelmed with emotion and hugged Dex tightly. She wanted to thank him for his kindness and generosity.

Dex was taken aback for a moment, but he quickly regained his composure. He wanted to hug her back, but he held back his hands.

"You're welcome, Eve," he said softly. "I'm just glad I could help."

Eve pulled away and looked up at Dex. "Thank you again. You have no idea how much this means to me."

Dex smiled. "I think I have some idea. We all need a little help sometimes."

They said their goodbyes, and Eve walked away feeling grateful for the unexpected encounter and the new friend she had made. Dex watched her go, feeling a warmth in his heart that he hadn't felt in a long time.

That evening, Eve spoke with Caden's father and shared the news about her new part-time job at the library. She explained that she was excited to be able to contribute to her living expenses and not have to rely on their financial support all the time.

"I feel bad that you and your wife have been helping me out so much," Eve said. "I want to be more self-sufficient and not have to rely on you all the time."

Caden's father smiled. "Eve, you don't have to feel bad. We're happy to help you out. We see you as part of our family now."

Eve felt touched by his words. "Thank you so much. You and your wife have been so kind to me, and I don't know where I'd be without your support."

Caden's father patted her on the back. "You're welcome, Eve. We're here for you whenever you need us."

Eve felt grateful for the kind and supportive people in her life. She knew that with their help and her own hard work, she could build a better future for herself. Then Eve hung up the phone with Caden's father feeling relieved and grateful. She knew that having a part-time job would make a huge difference in her life and help her become more self-sufficient.

Excitedly, she picked up her phone and called her friend Clair to share the good news.

"Hey, Clair, guess what?" she said as soon as her friend picked up. "I got a part-time job at the library!"

Clair squealed with excitement. "That's amazing, Eve! I'm so happy for you. When do you start?"

"Next week," Eve replied. "I can't wait to get started and earn some extra income."

Clair laughed. "Well, don't forget about us little people when you're a famous librarian."

Eve chuckled. "I won't forget about you. You're my biggest supporter."

After chatting for a while, Clair jokingly asked Eve if there was a special someone in her life. Eve blushed at the question and hesitated for a moment before answering.

"Well, there's this guy I met recently," she said, her voice softening. "He's really kind and thoughtful, and he helped me out when I was in a tough spot."

Clair's eyes widened with interest. "Ooh, tell me more! What's his name? How did you meet?"

Eve laughed nervously. "His name is Dex, and I met him at the park. We had a really nice conversation, and he offered to help me out with some things."

Clair grinned. "WOAH WOAH,wait..Is he the one you met at school yesterday?"

"HAHA EXACTLY!"

"WOAH !! Sounds like a potential love connection to me! You should definitely ask him out."

Eve blushed even more. "I don't know if I'm ready for that yet. Plus, I don't even know if he's interested in me like that."

Clair waved her hand dismissively. "Nonsense! You're a catch, Eve. I'm sure he's interested. You should at least give it a shot."

After hanging up with Clair, Eve turned off her phone and sat down on her bed, lost in thought. She couldn't help but wonder why Dexter had been so kind to her.

She replayed their conversation in her mind, trying to pick up on any clues that might explain his behavior. He had seemed genuinely interested in her life and had gone out of his way to offer his help.

But why? Was he just a kind person, or did he have ulterior motives? Eve couldn't shake the feeling that there was something more to his actions.

She sighed and shook her head, knowing that she was probably overthinking things. Dexter had been nothing but kind and helpful to her, and she should be grateful for that.

Still, she couldn't help but feel a little uneasy about the situation. She decided that she would keep her guard up and be cautious around him until she knew him better.

On Monday morning, Eve woke up to the sound of her alarm ringing. She quickly got out of bed and took a shower, getting ready for another day of school. As she walked out of her apartment and into the lobby, she was surprised to see a car parked in front of the building with someone standing next to it. It was Brixton.

"Hey, Eve," Brixton said, smiling at her. "I thought I'd give you a ride to school today."

Eve was surprised but also grateful for the gesture. "Eh..uh..Thanks, Brixton," she said, feeling a little more at ease around him after their previous conflicts.

As they got into the car and drove towards the school, Brixton explained that he had passed by her apartment on his way to school and decided to stop and offer her a ride.

Eve smiled, feeling touched by the gesture. "That's really kind of you," she said. "I appreciate it."

As they arrived at the school, Brixton parked the car and they both walked towards Eve's first class. As they made their way through the hallways, they attracted a few curious glances from their classmates. Asher, who was standing nearby, couldn't resist making a joke when he saw Brixton.

"Hey, Brixton, I didn't know you were into chauffeuring now," Asher said, grinning at him.

Brixton rolled his eyes but couldn't help but smile a little. "I'm just giving Eve a ride to school," he replied.

"Well, you're a regular knight in shining armor," Asher teased.

Eve noticed Dexter standing beside Asher.

"Hey, Eve," Dexter said,"Can we talk for a minute?"

Eve nodded, a little surprised by the sudden request. "Sure, what's up?"

Dexter held Eve's hand and walked towards the park nearby school

"Sorry If I hold you, uh... I couldn't help but notice you walking with Brixton earlier," he said, his tone slightly accusatory. "Are you two...you know, a thing now?"

Eve was taken aback by the question and shook her head. "No, we're not a thing," she said, feeling a little defensive. "He just gave me a ride to school, that's all."

Dexter seemed to relax a little at her response. "Okay, good," he said. "I just didn't want to see you get hurt again."

Eve frowned, feeling a little confused. "What do you mean, get hurt again?"

Dexter hesitated for a moment before speaking. "I just don't trust Brixton, that's all," he said. "I don't want to see you get hurt like you did before."

Eve wasn't sure what Dexter was referring to, but she appreciated his concern. "Thanks, Dexter," she said. "I'll keep that in mind."

As the bell rang, Eve walked back to her classroom.

As Eve sat in class, she couldn't help but think about Dexter's comment. "Hurt? What does he know about Brixton?" she thought to herself. She had never discussed her past with Dexter, and she wondered what he meant by his warning.

Despite her confusion, Eve couldn't shake the feeling that Dexter's words had some truth to them. She had been hurt in the past, and she didn't want to repeat the same mistakes. She decided to keep her guard up around Brixton and not let her guard down too quickly.

As the class continued, Eve tried to focus on the lesson, but her mind kept drifting back to her conversation with Dexter. She wondered if she should talk to Brixton about it or if she should just keep her distance. She knew she needed to make a decision soon before things got more complicated.
