A/N: I have a bibliography essay due today that I've barely started as I'm posting this. Rip lol

ANYWAY NEW CHAPTER WOOT WOOT

I feel a bit bad for giving no new chapters last month so I hope y'all enjoy ☺️ Especially since I've rewritten this arc and changed small things so many fucking times lmao

----------

"That sounds like Yoshiho," Hitomi laughed, wiping her eyes once she'd finally coughed out the ice cream stuck in her throat.

Todoroki looked at her oddly, confused. "...I don't get what's so funny."

Hitomi shrugged, scooping some more of the halo-halo to eat. "It's... an inside joke between me, her, and Nari." Her phone suddenly chimed, making her pull the device out. "Oh, speaking of which..." She'd just gotten a notification, seeing Nari had texted their group chat.

Nari🌼🍮: hitomi, yoshiho's free tonight! You up for a video call?
Me: sure, maybe in an hour or so. I'm at a festival rn.
Yoshiho🪐🪐: ah, see you later then.

Hitomi smiled, Todoroki watching as she put her phone away.

"I haven't gotten to see her in person since the exam, and Yoshiho hasn't really told me much about your guys' supplementary classes. The most she'd tell me was that she got her butt kicked."

Todoroki shrugged, finishing the last of the halo-halo. "Can I ask you something?"

"Sure."

"Why were you sitting here all by yourself?"

Hitomi suddenly blushed, looking away.

"...no particular reason."

Todoroki blinked, noting the flush in her cheeks. "Is it because of Bak-"

"Shh!!"

Hitomi cut him off, slapping her hands over his mouth. Todoroki's eyes widened in surprise, the girl looking at him with embarrassment. "Don't say it out loud, okay?" She waited until Todoroki finally nodded, taking her hands off his face as she sighed.

"What happened between you two this time?"

Hitomi's blush deepened as she began fiddling with her hair. She couldn't help but stare at the pink band-aid wrapped around her finger. "I... I yelled at him. I was doing it in Tagalog so he wouldn't understand what I was saying, but now he probably thinks I just shouted at him for no good reason. It doesn't help that I acted like that right after he did something... nice for me." She brought her legs back up to her chest, hugging them as she rested her chin on her knees.

"I said some pretty stupid stuff..." she muttered. "I need to apologize to him later. The things I said were pretty awful." She sighed, closing her eyes. "I don't know what was wrong with me." Her eyes shifted to look at Todoroki and she gave him a sheepish smile. "Thanks for putting up with my complaining, by the way. I'm sure it's starting to get a little annoying, so I'm sorry if I've been bothering you about it."

Todoroki shrugged, leaning back on the bench. "It's not a bother, I guess. Just... surprising, that you like him."

Hitomi hummed in response.

"It is, isn't it?"

...

The class had finally arrived back at the beach house an hour later, tired but satisfied with the time they'd spent at the festival. Hitomi took the 10-minute drive back to psyche herself up, as she still needed to apologize to Bakugou for yelling at him earlier.

Some of the class still lingered in the family room, having their own conversations as it grew later into the night. Hitomi watched from the kitchen table as Bakugou eventually left, heading down the hallway to likely go back to their- excuse her, his room.

Now's the best time to apologize in private.

Hitomi got up from the table, telling Midoriya and his friends good night before running down the hall. She approached the door, her hand hovering over the doorknob before she decided to knock instead.

Hitomi heard a muffled "wait", fiddling with her hands as she stared at the floor. She could feel her heartbeat quicken, her nerves beginning to flare up. The worry was starting to build in her chest, and she quickly became paranoid about how she was going to apologize.

What if he doesn't accept it? What if he doesn't care about what happened? Did... did he even realize I was mad-

The door suddenly swung open and Hitomi looked up to see Bakugou looking back at her. She felt her throat close up, the two of them staring at each other silently. Hitomi opened her mouth to say something, anything before Bakugou suddenly scoffed and turned away.

Her mouth was left hanging open, the words on the tip of her tongue. Her lips clamped shut, the bluenette tentatively stepping into the room as Bakugou stopped by his suitcase. She watched as he rummaged through it, acting as if she wasn't even there.

Hitomi felt... awkward.

She held her apology back, walking to the dresser and grabbing her pajamas before making her way into the bathroom.

What am I doing...?

She was supposed to be apologizing for shouting at him earlier.

But now it looked like she was facing the consequences of her actions.

Hitomi stuffed her outdoor clothes into the bag that held her dirty laundry, cursing to herself.

"...Shit."

...

Hitomi stayed in the bathroom a little longer, deciding to do her nightly routine a bit earlier than usual. No bath to get embarrassed over tonight, thankfully.

As she ran a brush through her hair, she stared at her reflection in the mirror, guilt building up from how she'd acted towards him.

I shouldn't have yelled at him.

The longer she thought about it, the worse she felt. It didn't help that her eyes kept focusing on the pink band-aid, reminding her of how he went out of his way to take care of that cut for her. Bakugou didn't deserve to get yelled at. Her feeling fed up with him was no excuse. He'd done nothing wrong.

It was Hitomi's stupid, stupid feelings that were at fault.

This is why they need to go away.

She placed the hairbrush on the counter, hardening her resolve.

I have to apologize.

She finally approached the door, hesitating as her hand hovered over the doorknob. She could feel her heartbeat speeding up, anxiety building in her stomach as she stared at the door. Eventually, she gulped, grasping the handle and twisting it.

I have to tell him I'm sorry.

Hitomi opened the door to find Bakugou sitting on the bed, his back against the headboard as he read a manga he'd brought from home. He didn't acknowledge her at all.

Hitomi took a deep breath, steeling herself for the inevitable awkwardness. She made her way to the bed slowly, walking over to Bakugou's side and stopping by him.

"Bakugou."

His attention shifted away from his book, his red eyes piercing into her. Hitomi felt herself stiffen, looking away.

"I... uh..." She trailed off, the words dying in her throat.

"You got something to say?" Bakugou grumbled. "Spit it out."

Hitomi fiddled with her hands, fidgeting as she felt Bakugou scrutinize her under his gaze. The pink band-aid stood out against her skin, reminding her of the way he'd held her hand as he took care of the cut. She had say this to him. She had to.

"Well... first of all," Hitomi said slowly, "um... thank you. For helping me after I cut myself on the glass shard." She rubbed her thumb against the band-aid, biting her lip. "I appreciate what you did."

Bakugou suddenly snapped his book shut, making Hitomi jump slightly at the loud noise. "Do you now?" he scoffed. "The way you fucking screamed at me afterwards said otherwise. If I'd known that's how you were going to react..." Hitomi looked up at him briefly to see him glaring at the wall. "I wouldn't have bothered if that's the response I was going to get."

At that she looked back down at her hands in shame. She really... shouldn't have done that to him. "Yeah, about that..." She held back a sigh. "I just wanted to let you know that the way I acted... was not because of what you did for me. And I... I wanted to apologize for my behavior. Bakugou... I'm sorry for yelling at you."

Bakugou's eyes narrowed as Hitomi continued. "I got angry at you for no good reason... and you didn't deserve that." Her fingers laced together as she kept her eyes glued to the floor. "I just needed you to know... that it's not your fault I was upset in that moment. It was mine. And I wanted to say I'm sorry for taking it out on you. I said some pretty bad stuff- stuff I didn't mean, and... I just... I'm sorry for all that."

Hitomi wore a deep frown, one filled with remorse, not having the courage to look Bakugou in the eye. He didn't say anything at all and she bit her lip. She didn't blame him... if he didn't want to talk to her right now.

But she just wanted to hear something from him. Even a scoff would be better than the nothing she was getting in response. The room was so quiet she could hear the quiet ticking of the clock above the TV.

The two were just left in silence for a few more long moments... until finally, Hitomi's phone started ringing.

"Ah-!"

Hitomi was startled, reaching into her back pocket and holding back the sigh of relief when she saw Nari was calling her. That long stretch of silence had been agonizing, to the point she didn't know if she could handle any more.

She turned away from Bakugou, making her way towards the door. "I'm sorry, I have to take this." Right as she was about to leave, she paused, turning to him as she muted the ringer on her phone. "Bakugou."

"...What?"

"I really mean it when I say I'm sorry for yelling at you. Even if you couldn't understand me, I just needed you to know I didn't mean a word of what I said back there."

All she saw was his glare hardening. "...Whatever," Bakugou finally growled. "I don't give a flying fuck what you said."

Hitomi felt herself falter at Bakugou's coldness.

"...Right. Of course," she mumbled, shutting the door behind her.

A/N: Ngl if I'm being honest here I think Bakugou has a right to be at least a little mad. He has no obligation to forgive her right away 😂 She may be having some severe issues with processing her feelings rn (which is for a reason) but there was no need to blow up at him the way she did. It's a real serious case of dumb bitch disease I must say 💀

Also most of the art this chapter is from 2020 lol. All the panels with Hitomi are old but I redrew the Bakugou one since I didn't like how he looked in the version from 3 years ago
