"Tomioka..?" You call his name, holding a tray of food. Giyuu looked over at you for a second, before looking ahead.
"Place it next to me." Giyuu exhaled. You place the tray down, sitting next to Giyuu as you scoot closer to him.
"C'mon you gotta eat at least something." You look at Giyuu with concern, placing the tray closer towards him.
Giyuu didn't answer. After a few minutes of silence, you pick up the rice ball from the tray, pushing it closer towards Giyuu's mouth. "Tomioka..! Just try-"
Giyuu snatched the rice ball out of your hands with quick movement. Your eyes slightly widen, looking at Giyuu. "-It." You finish your word.
"..Thank you." Giyuu muttered, taking small nibbles out of the rice ball. Eventually, a black crow that looked awfully weak stumbled onto Giyuu's shoulder.
You blink at the crow. You've heard about his crow before. Kanzaburou was the name. Giyuu looked at his shaky crow with slight concern, turning his gaze towards the ground.
Giyuu waved his hand in a 'shoo' manner, not making eye contact. You decide to stay. "Giyuu, what happened to you?" You question, tilting your head. Giyuu looked at you for a moment before looking away.
"I'm not hungry anymore." Giyuu changed the subject, eyeing the tray still left with food. He'd set Kanzaburou in his lap, rubbing his black feathers gently.
"C'mooon.. where's the Giyuu Tomioka I know and love?" You nudge him on the arm with a smile.
"Leave. I dislike speaking, so don't talk to me." Giyuu's change of tone changed a bit, narrowing his eyes at the ground. You deny his request, sitting there like you were permanently stuck.
"I know you didn't lose your smile. Show me!" You turn your head towards Giyuu. Giyuu exhaled, Kanzaburou letting out small coughs, small gasps for air. Giyuu rubbed his beak for comfort.
"Didn't I just say I dislike speaking." Giyuu looked at you with annoyance in his tone. You inhale sharply. "Tomioka." You pause.
"What happened to you? Seriously. Please, tell me so I can help." You look at Giyuu with desperation. No answer. You tap your hand against the ground.
"Tomioka, look at me." You grab his face, turning it towards your direction.
Giyuu's eyes started to fill up with water. You let go of his face. "Ah, no, I'm sorry. That was a bit rough..." You blame it on yourself as Giyuu shakes his head side to side.
"It's not that." Giyuu rubbed his eyes with his hands, tears falling in the process.
You put your hand on his shoulder. "You're not the only one who's hurting, Tomioka." You shake your head, clenching your free hand.
You were a bit of a empathetic and emotional person. So, hearing Giyuu's despair makes you feel worse. You hug Giyuu tightly on the arm, Kanzaburou slowly getting off of Giyuu's lap, so you could fully hug him.
"I'm sorry." Giyuu apologized. "I take back what I said." Giyuu exhaled, rubbing his eyes once again.
You repeat Giyuu's action. "No, don't apologize. I should be the one doing that. I didn't know.."
"Stop." Giyuu paused as you lift your head up from his haori. "Stop being hard on yourself." Giyuu muttered, rubbing Kanzaburou's back in the process.
You inhale, forcing yourself to not cry even more. "Okay, okay." You chuckle under your breath, hugging him again.
"Don't leave my side, okay?" You wrap your arms around Giyuu, clinging onto him.
Giyuu gave a small smile. "Okay."
